Talking on Tuesday

    • Gold Top Dog

Thanks, Deb, for posting the recipe.  I have it at home. :)  I was glad you mentioned making some different salads which reminded me of this one.  I tend to forget new recipes and fall back on old favorites.

Cathy, glad the fireman was found.

Sending good thoughts and prayer's to your friend's family on the loss of her dad, Lisa. :(   I'm glad Riley's surgery isn't till school is out.  I wish I could come and give you a hand but I know you'll be ok.

I'm not sure what our holiday weekend plans are.  Just heard from a niece that her oldest son is graduating high school on Saturday.  He wasn't sure if it would be this semester or next.  He takes accelerated classes and apparently hasn't kept his mom informed. At least, that's her story. lol  I'm keeping Ruger for five days starting Thursday. Belle will be thrilled as he is her BFF. :)  It will be crazy.

Ok, y'all are making me hungry with this talk of yummy salads! I am in a crappy mood re: work (and I'm working at home, so it shouldn't be that bad). I might just vacuum a bit instead...or maybe make brownies. It's raining out so that's probably not helping.

OK--brighter side...I'm going out for dinner tonight. Yummm! I believe there will be beer involved, so that will make everything much better.

Happy Tuesday, all. And extra hugs for all who need them.

It's already 2pm here!  I've been BUSY, but it keeps me outta trouble :)  Mostly.... Stick out tongue

I'm so tired.  I tossed and turned until around midnight when I fell asleep.  Then I woke up at 3am and couldn't fall back asleep.  There's not enough coffee in the world to keep me going for much longer.  I just need to make it a couple more hours, then I can go home and crash.  Moki enjoys my insomnia at least, as she gets some extra one on one attention lol.  I had a restless night the night before as well.

I would love a big steak with salad for dinner tonight, but that would require going to the store for more lettuce and the steaks.  I don't think I have it in me.   Sleep

    • Gold Top Dog

Like Sharon, I'm dragging today, too.  I slept quite soundly, just not long enough.  I have a bad habit of reading right before I go to bed, and I fight sleep off longer than I should if I'm enjoying the book.  Not that I'm absorbing much of it since I'm nodding off . . . .  Stick out tongue

I'm sorry that Abbie's paw is still giving her trouble.  It sounds painful, poor thing!

I'm glad that Charlie had a good report from his appointment and that the drop routine and "cone time" can be reduced.  I bet he'll be thrilled with a new ball!

Cathy, I'm glad they finally found the fireman.  I can't imagine how the family would've felt if his body was never recovered.  And speaking of families losing a loved one in a drowning accident, I'm sorry to hear about your friend's Dad, Lisa.  Both such terrible tragedies.  It seems every spring/summer we hear of a few drownings in our area.  So many people enjoy boating, kayaking, or hiking near bodies of water out here.  I'm sure people take precautions, but water can be unpredictable.

I wish I had something cheerful to close my post, but between the pouring rain and my fatigue, I haven't rustled up much fun and games at my office yet today!

    • Gold Top Dog

Well today I am 56 and feel like 106 lol.   The temps in N.W.Ark this morning was 44 degrees.... no wonder my bones hurt, lol!  My hubby got a little spurt of energy the last couple of days and got a little project going, as usual his project required my help last night, ha!  Now today he is sooooooo tired,  I told him he could not be tired today he will have to wait til tomorrow to be tired.  I will let you all know if that threat works Wink

The girls at the office made me a yummy homemade chocolate cake and I have eaten 2 pieces so far just to make sure it was good, Stick out tongue, now I may have to have another before the day is over just to be certain.

Cathy I am so sorry about the fireman, of course it is so much better for his family to have some closure but still....RIP

Lisa ((hugs)) for both your friend and you....You may need a support group when Riley has surgery :) to keep you sane.

I gave both boys a bath this weekend...I took a few pics that I need to download for you guys.  As usual Rocky was an Angel and Hot was a pain in the behind and I like to never got him rinsed.  While trying to put up my hose and the shampoo looked to find him in a big pile of dirt turned to mud by his wet body, ugh I dont know why that boy hates water so much cause he loves to be brushed and towel dried.

Hope everyone has a good day, 2 more days for me then 4 days off.  I am so ready to spend some time playin in the dirt!

ETA: OOPS I almost forgot   Enjoy your new ball Charlie!  so excited to hear he is coming along.

Funny how dog love water as long as no soap is involved. LOL

Ginger Happy Birthday!!! I am so sorry you feel so poorly  Sad I did post a couple more funny pics in the same post for you and Tracy Wink Bugsy would give you lots of kisses to distract you from feeling poorly

Cathy I am very glad they found the fireman, so very sad

Julie I will keep looking for someplace that sells Cut Heal near you - I was amazed at how well that worked for B's pad

Happy to hear that Charlie is on the mend

Lisa I feel so sad for Riley, I know that doesn't help but still, it totally sucks. Perhaps Marty has a few hints from dealing with her granddaughter that had the cast on her leg.

So sorry to hear of your friend's dad - was he on the coast kayaking? How awful!!  Sending plenty of vibes to her and her family.

Our return from the beach was to the harsh reality of the aftermath of the lightning strike. They did find a propane leak so those guys were here yesterday for hours trying to fix it - which they did. But after they left we realized our hot water was lukewarm at best.  I wound up turning up the temp on the unit but I have a feeling that isn't going to be a permanent solution. Not sure why them repairing the line would cause our water temp to go down..............shrugs. hoping its fixed

Then we realized that the AC unit we put in last summer (over $4000) wasn't working. Sad It too suffered from lightning damage but incredibly the company serviced it, parts and all under warranty! I am in happy shock right now.

My last bit of happy news is that for the first time since his knee surgery Bugsy didn't get lame at the beach. I didn't walk him as much but he played a ton, and did crazy zoomies (to the entertainment of all) several times a day. But he never struggled on the stairs as he had the last few years. And was wired and ready to go for a run this morning.  This makes me very happy

This is a good thing right??? Wink

Yay for Bugsy's strong knee, despite his busy beach activity!  Geez, my knees give me trouble on some stairs, and I haven't had surgery!

What a relief that the A/C repair fell under warranty.  That would've been awful to be hit with a major bill so soon after its installation!

I forgot to post earlier -- Happy Birthday, Ginger!  Your celebration today sounds right up my alley . . . multiple pieces of chocolate cake?  Who needs presents when you've got that?!  Yes

Thanks again for posting those pics, Karen.  Since I'm a Facebook hold-out, I miss a lot of the fun photos everyone posts, so I appreciate it when they get posted here, too!

    Happy Birthday Ginger!!!!

Marty - if you have any tips that would be great.  Even her doctor just shook her head while she was telling me I was going to have to keep her still and quiet for 48 hours.  She chuckled and said "yeah, good luck with that."  I think we might get her a Nintendo DS.  My nieces have the older version from a few years back so I think if we can get one of theirs, plus two  games (they are relatively cheap) that might work.

Or there is Vodka - for Todd and I at least.

    • Gold Top Dog

Lisa -- I missed this.  WHAT surgery does Riley need?

There's a new Tinkerbell movie out this spring.

    New play dough

    New crayons

Won't a Nintendo have her jumping up and down? (grin - it would me!)

Does she like to bake with you?  I have a couple of cookie receipes that are fun I'd send you. (one where you add soda to the sour cream and it makes the sour cream "grow" right up out of the cup -- it's a HOOT to do with kids)

Oh my, I had to read back to see why you were calling my name...  :)   The situation is so different...Allie's parents found that there is no keeping a 5 yr old down.  I would think if Riley is uncomfortable, she will keep herself down for a while.  Allie learned to butt scoot where ever she wanted to go, and that progressed to a crawl.  After 6 weeks of that, her cast was falling apart and had to be taped up.  I don't think she even used the wheelchair...too slow!  Allie has a Kindle Fire, which I'm sure she used a lot.  She has books, games, movies, music and whatnot loaded on that.  She also decided she wanted to go to preschool the day after she came home...Confused

Happy Birthday, Ginger!! Cake I knew I was forgetting something important today.  I hope you start feeling better soon.  The cake sounds delicious and you can send me a piece if you don't eat it all. :)

Karen, so so happy to hear that Bugsy isn't limping after the beach trip.  Your other news is great too. :)

    • Gold Top Dog

Thanks for all the nice BDay wishes :)  I think I am going to go straight home tonight and sit on the patio with a new "Deb" inspired drink (from last week at the Tiki Bar)

    1/2 cup Pineapple juice

    1/2 cup OJ

2 or more ounces of Coconut Rum

Poured over crushed ice.....mmm so good

I know there should be some vodka in this somewhere but since I am out of vodka this will do just fine.  Hubby had to take SD to the Dr. so they wont be done for a while.  Me N the dogs are just gonna chill on the patio :)
