For some reason everyone wants to get a Shiba Inu and name it Shiba, ugg.  But you see alot of them names Aka japanese for red, and Ryu and Yoshi japanese for Dragon.  There is apopular Shiba book out with popular japanese Shiba names and it seems everyone picks the same 10 out of the book for their shiba names, and yep kuma is in there.  It also shows how to properly combine them so you can name your dog red dragon, or red bear, or black bear, but still they are all named Aka or Ryu or Yoshi.

Barney is the most popular hound name I have ever seen, LOL.  And snoopy is a popular Beagle name, although snoopy looks nothing like a Beagle, and I always wondered about that.

And another popular name for Dobes is Zeus, at least here.

Like the basenjis and PHs, most ridgebacks that I've met have african names.  I have yet to meet another ridgeback named caesar.  Unfortunately too many people that I meet think we named him after Cesar Milan [&:]

Do all bassets have human names? Every basset I've ever met does. Barney, Lucy, Fred, Leroy, and Wyatt. [8D]

I've only ever met one other bluetick coonhound, but when we were searching petfinder for one, I noticed there were several Annabelles.  And then anything "southern" sounding.

I've noticed lots of pits have mechanical names--Decel, Turbo, Clutch, and the females tend to have unusual human female names.  Although I do know a girl with a pit named Cuddles-lol.

Growing up my Grandma had an schnauzer named Muffy. Poor Grandma, she never understood why that always gave us the giggles! [;)] I think that Pepper is a really common name for schnauzers. Maybe because of the salt and pepper color?

My first pyr was named Sampson. He was such an great dog, I really miss him.
