    Dreary Tuesday talking

Gray, gloomy, raining....blech.  But, we are so far behind on rain (or snow) this year that it's badly needed.  The field is gonna be a bear to cut when the rain finally stops this weekend, but the lower half of the back yard won't be a walk in the park either.  It's good exercise so I won't fuss.  Well, at least not a whole lot!  The rain at least makes weeding a whole lot easier!  Gotta find the silver lining, right?

No, I've never passed a stone Jackie.  I've given birth a couple times with nothing but a stupid focus point and breathing for the pain tho.  And I realize it's gotta be worse for a guy given the difference in plumbing, but still, the thing already passed.  The pain is totally gone now, but the "uncomfortable" feeling remains.  And he did do the front yard for me yesterday, so he's off the "infant" list.  In my experience tho, we gals keep going  and the guys crumble and take to their beds with the smallest thing....and they call US the weaker sex!  LOL

Callie, keeping your dad in our prayers today, and holding up you and your mom the best we can.  Thinking about cute little Charlie as well.

Hope everyone has a good day!

     Dreary is right!

I'm having one of those days where I simply just do not want to be at work.  No reason for it.  I like my job, things are going well - I just really don't want to be here.  I think I just need some time off.  Long weekend coming up at the end of the month will help.  Of course, I'm on call that weekend, but c'est la vie.   I haven't had a real vacation in a couple of years.  Our July vaca can't come soon enough.

I hope everyone has a good day!

Stormy weather most of the night.  Not a lot of rain to show for all the drama.  Sleep  I didn't fall asleep until after 2:30.

Ya' know, Glenda, the more one allows those around them to get away with not sharing the load, the less they will do. It's all about boundaries and not accepting the lame excuses. Jes sayin'...

My mower that was supposed to be done (repaired) yesterday was not. We've had so much rain that I really need to mow before the city tickets me.

Sunday I was vacuuming and the cord shorted out and caught fire. It wasn't huge, I powered the outlet off, all was okay. I have a Kirby that is about 19 years old, but I still think I can buy a new cord for it for less than replacing it (even with a different brand vacuum).

Good luck to your dad today Callie.

Luke and I have lots of things to do today. We have to go across the street to visit his friends at the nursing home. I think we're going to go over a little bit early. They're doing construction, and they moved things around a lot. So last week we couldn't really go to the one floor because they moved the exercise group to the room where we usually see the people. Then I get to pick up my new glasses, and go to the library.

I made a sig banner. How do I make it appear as my sig?

Tina, you are absolutely positively right.  I don't cut him much slack when he comes up with the random aches and pains to avoid chores, but this time, yeah, he was white as a ghost and would literally shake (like shivering really hard) with pain.  He is definately a slacker on some things.  And I am guilty as charged.

Last night was a rough nite -- I was jizzed enough worrying about Pa and organizing everything for Charlie (he was hurtin last night & pretty shut down) that 'bedtime' took hours and sleep wasn't happening til about 3:30, then awake at David's 65 alarms.

(*Head Desk* -- oops can't do that -- too much work sitting here)

Should not complain - David is being awesome = HE took Charlie for his check up and he's going to work from home to do the noon drops.

If this stack of work falls on me it will hurt me.  =-]

Good thoughts for your dad today Callie and also for Charlie. (((Hugs)))

I have decided that having a really sweet, calm dog sleeping with you is better than any sleeping pill. I've gone to sleep at 9:30 that last 2 nights and woke around 5:30 but continued to doze off and on until past 6. Sassy was hard to sleep with because she moved around so much and took up 1/2 the bed. Shane stays at the foot of the bed the whole night and is as quiet as a mouse. If he does get bouncy, I have to roll to the side or I'll get what I'd imagine chest compressions feel like. Not pleasant.

Warming up even more today to the low 90s. I was surprised when I got home yesterday that without the AC running all day, the temp inside was 76 and never went any higher. I ran the ceiling fan in the bedroom and that was plenty cool enough for sleeping.

Cathy, I think your solution is a good one for getting a good night's sleep.  The key is, like you said, a dog who stays still during the night and doesn't hog the bed.  I'm a light sleeper, so moving around, grooming, twitching, sleep-barking, and all that stuff can disrupt my sleep.  For the most part, Ruby is pretty quiet during the night.  In the winter, a dog is better than an electric blanket for warmth!

Speaking of warmth, we've got another nice day here.  Not that I can feel it in my office -- full blast A/C, so I have a jacket on -- but outside it's gorgeous!  We might have to take a walk around noon to enjoy it for a few minutes and so my feet can warm up!

Callie, I hope your Dad's procedure goes well today.  Boy, you've got a lot on your worry-plate this week.  Hang in there!

Sassy always ran in her sleep and usually it was when she had her legs planted in my back. Stick out tongue I love dogs but I cannot function without sleep.

Callie, good thoughts coming for your dad and for Charlie.

Glenda, I had a kidney stone about a year ago but the doc said they're not painful unless  they're starting to move. They zapped it apart with one of those high tech "Star Trekky" looking things ... I think it's called extra corporeal shockwave lithotripsy or something like that.  Very fast, in and out the same day.

Now I'm here waiting for the yard guy to come and fix the broken sprinklers in the back, which also adversely affect the drip system. I called him back in October Hmm but I think his attitude is that if it's going to start raining soon, he doesn't have to worry about it for awhile.  Thing is - CA is a desert state and we never know how much rain we're going to get, or if we're going to get any at all. I should go hose off the patio and get the cushions out.  Max would enjoy that.  He loves it when someone gets out the hose for any reason and we usually both wind up soaking wet.

don't have the whole story yet but b/c I hadn't heard from Mom I called ICU and nurse volunteered that Dad had just come back up but was asleep but that she knew they had "found a small bleeder and had fixed it" (she may have said "capped it";).  Mom actually didn't know that herself -- I called her cell and she actually picked it up and I was 'there' (smile).

She'll call me tonight -- hopefully she'll see a doctor in the meantime.

Phew - I feel like someone just moved that 50 pound weight off my chest!

    I was jizzed enough

Uhm... where I come from, that means a man peed all over something.  Just sayin'.  I've been thinking of Charlie and your dad but can't find the right words to say I hope all turns out ok in the end.

Tina - my jaw dropped open when I read about your Kirby!  GAH!!!  That's skeery to me - an actual short like that to shut off the power from the outlet?!?!  aaaak!!  I hate it when my vac starts to smell like the motor is burning (I have some generic brand I don't remember - I bought it at Sears.)

Gracie turns 9 years old this Saturday.  Debating how to celebrate that...  I LOVE MY DOG so much!! Cake

Ha!!  jizzed = nervous and jerky.  Can also mean you've had a tad too much to drink (almost like "buzz";).  *laughing* Paige if you only knew  ME and knew that there is just about NO restroom east of the Mississippi that I haven't been in you'd know how truly hysterical that is.

But thanks -- I'll watch my p's & q's ( Huh? ).  I've got Western NY-ese, been-too-long-in-Floor-da, and just enough Scots & British jargon to get myself in trouble apparently.

    Dang -- I NEEDED a laugh.
