Today is trip planning, cleaning, laundry and lawn mowing day. Somewhere in there I'm going to get a nap in too.

I have to figure out how to get work clothes and spring/cold weather clothes along with a laptop and camera into carry on luggage. That will be a challenge.

Had an impromptu invite to a baseball game late yesterday afternoon, complete with V.I.P. parking and a suite, so I went. It was fun - and we were quite warm, so I'm glad I went.

Geez, I went outside my safe zone twice this week - the massage and a last minute date. I'd better scale it back before I get too out of control.

I'm wearing a favorite skirt today.  It fits me when I'm fit or fat and looks good.  I swear it's magical.  

I'm really considering going to see a midnight showing of the Avengers tonight lol.  Outside of that the plans include maybe catching dinner and a movie with my Dad at some point.

I wish I'd made a bet on whether we'd get a call for service at the downtown PD headquarters this morning.  Never fails that the day of the big parade downtown, we get a call from this building.  At least we can count on getting a police escort to get through traffic, if needed.  The chief doesn't like to be sweaty. On another note concerning Fiesta,  I've lost count of the number of DUI's they've written during Fiesta this year.  It was up to 173, three days ago. The City considers it a good event (I'm being sarcastic) if less than 3 people get killed due to drunk drivers during Fiesta. :(   Our City likes to party and they like to drink and they drive when they drink.  You couldn't pay me to get on the roads after 10 PM during Fiesta.

I hope we can leave early today.  I'd like to get some house chores done today since I'll be in Austin tomorrow.  I can't wait to see my cousin.  Haven't seen or talked to her in over 30 years.  She's doing much better but still in ICU.

It's very windy here today, so here's my Tiki Bar drink of choice for today:

Big Breezy

Ingredients:

• 2 parts Absolut New Orleans vodka
• 4 chunks fresh watermelon
• 1 part simple syrup
• squeeze of fresh lemon
• pinch of black pepper
• melon ball for garnish
• lemon slice for garnish

Preparation:

1. Place all ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
2. Shake well.
3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
4. Garnish with a melon ball and lemon slice.

 I got a speeding ticket on my way to the Pat Hastings seminar last month (I was one exit away and I would have contested it if I felt like wasting the time, but I'm so flat out busy on everything else that I'll just pay it.)  I go to pay online and the violation reads "Fail to display a current and valid certificate of"  Uhh, I AM NOT AGREEING TO THAT, whatever that is?!  I called the bureau and thank goodness they answered and acknowledged someone entered it wrong.  Uh, yeah, I don't want my insurance company to think I'm running around without a current and valid.. I dunno, insurance?  Inspection??  Registration?!?!?  No way, man.  Awaiting the fix.

I'm anxiously awaiting when the water is warm enough to take out our kayaks.  Still a ways to go....

There is sooooo much going on this weekend in NWA.  Special Bike (as in bicycle) rally will have several street closed in Fayetteville, Race for the Cure will have several streets closed in Bentonville,  WalMart sponsored FLA Bass Tourney at Beaver Lake just outside of Rogers.  I think the best thing to do is stay home and dont try to figure out all the detours :)

I really wanna go home and work in the garden.   Had a neighbor come and til my garden beds this week.  I usually do it by hand (and rake) so it will be a real treat to prepare a tilled bed for planting.  I just can wait!!! Most of the neighbors have already planted but I have been holding off.  I know the weather is warmer this year but I will try to stick to my normal planting plan.

Ginger, you are probably wise to wait.  We have a hard freeze warning for tonite.  And today, what sounds like gale force winds.....in Western MA.  Go figure.
