Not interested in toys?

    Not interested in toys?

Are there any dog owners on here, who have dogs that are not interested in toys? My dogs do not seem to be interested in toys. Even Kongs filled with their favorite treats. They prefer chew bones, going on walks, or just following whichever of my sons they choose at the moment.

My Rott/Shepherd mix doesn't like toys. But then, he is also 8 years old so that may have something to do with it. He just follows me around the house all day and watches everything I do. [:)]

Of our 4, only 1 has a good interest in toys.  1 other just carries a stuffy around under stress.  The other will de-stuffify a toy but that's abuot it.  The fourth will chase a toy for 5 minutes once a week.  So no, no real interest in toys in our house.  Makes it cheap though!  lol..

Yes it does make it cheap. I guess I shouldn't be worried that they are not toy playing dogs. They have my 4 sons to keep them amused or petted. They also have each other. They tend to have the zoomies and play chase 2x a day here. Not to mention the walks every day.  At times, I think I forget that dogs can be simpler than people.

Our old dog never had any interest in toys, she would chew bones, but that's all. Didn't want to play fetch, or chew on anything else that I remember. She was a Border Collie/Blue Heeler mix, but was scared of our cattle, wouldn't go near them! Never had her around sheep though....so I don't know what she would think of them. Cassidy will probably love toys all her life ( playing fetch and tug of war, she doesn't play by herself). And Mirelle, who's the puppy, plays all the time with toys. It depends on the dog's age,I think, and their breed and personality too, of course.

Our gsd pup LOVES toys - balls... frisbees... kongs... Whatever you toss, he'll fetch it back for you, and demand more tosses.

Our 4 yr old pom on the other hand, spends his life on the couch.  I take him on walks, and let him walk around the yard, but he never really gets excited over it like the pup does.  And if I wave a toy infront of his nose, he just looks at me funny.  I guess his favorite "toys" are his humans, 'cause he'll jump on them and make them pick him up. [:D].  Actually come to think of it, he used to play with plushy toys when he was younger.  Maybe age made him lazy.

My dog has no interest in toys and chewing whatsoever. Her life revolves around naps, food, walks and displays of affection. I thought this was weird at first, but I guess some dogs just don't care as much as others. It does make it cheaper though! [:D

there is only one way i can get whinny to play with a toy, and that is if i tie a fake squirrel tail to the end of a rope and run around dragging it behind me (making an a** of myself in the process, im sure!) for some reason this taps into her deeply buried "play" mode and she will try to catch it. everything else she just looks at with complete disinterest!
