Otherwise entitled, Best New Dog Toys Ever!

This morning I came across a box of onesided socks that I had at the house before last. You know one of those boxes that never got unpacked. Well now that I'm in the new place, I know for a fact that I do not have the other sides hanging around anywhere. I was gonna just toss em in the garbage but then I got a better idea. I made dog toys out of them!

For the first one I just tied about 8 socks together end to end with big knots, to make a tug rope. Right now my dogs are happily playing together with it. The second one I just stuffed one of the broken Tennis balls into and toss it around. Crusher demolishes tennis balls and I think it has something to do with the texture cause he hasn't even tried to chew this one since I put it in the sock. The last toy I made took about 15 socks. I just kept stuffing them inside one another until I ended up with a ball about the size of a large softball. The last sock I put on it was a long one and I knotted it on both ends so it kind of looks like a bonbon candy, you know the round ones with the wrappers? Like a Werthers or something. The toys are a hit! I havent seen my dogs play with anything so long in a long time. Of course I have to hang them up to dry afterwards but they're machine washable. Hehe. Anyone else ever do this with thier onesided socks?

Be careful of this...in a way you are giving your dog permission to chew your other socks that have matches.

Not likely, My dogs arent even allowed to have their normal toys unless they get them from me. Plus if it helps BF to learn to pick up his socks...

I have long used singleton socks, those that get little holes in them, etc, for sock toys. I just tie knots in them....if it has a knot it's theirs, and if it doesn't, they know it's MINE. Same with the faceclothes that I used for teething pups.....knot them, wet them, freeze them and then give them to the pups.....mine are taught from a very young age that if there is a knot is something, it's theirs.

I have this *sock rule* - socks belong on your feet, in the sock drawer or in the dirty clothes hamper. If they are in one of those places, the dog can't get them. If they're anyplace else, they're fair game.

My roommate gave Russell a pair of trouser socks knotted together. He loved that thing more than any other toy he's ever gotten... unfortunately he eventually loved it to death and I tossed it, it got too gross for me. Surprisingly, ever since he's grown out of the puppy chew crazy stage, he leaves stray socks alone completely. Underwear and shoes - specifically flipflops - are not so lucky however. [

We always made "fat babies". I have no idea where this came from, except that my Grandma's dog always had one. We have a few lying around. One single sock is stuffed with a few socks, a knot is tied, and it's the best dog toy ever.

luvarescue... i'm with you on undies being in danger! Along with socks, shorts, shirts, robes, towels, rugs and anything else that doesn't weigh more than my dogs!!

Hahahahaha! Consider yourself lucky. Before Emma hit ten pounds, she'd destroyed a hammock, a sofa, and two chairs, along with a bunch of small stuff. Suprivised. She was CRATED when I wasn't home. That was just with me being across the room. Oh, and she'd pulled up tiles in three places, and ripped a huge chunk of linoleum out of the bathroom floor. She was hell on wheels....

The "weigh more than the dogs" got me thinking[
