Sorry I was so close to the edge yesterday.  Today will definitely be a better day.

We have traded places.  It's not the day to piss me off.  I'm about to go venom tiger today.

Going to get through today and then suck it up for the wake.  Looking at tomorrow, I don't know why I think I can do a community service project in one town, leave mid-way to attend the funeral, then head back to the community service project (involving clearing trails/painting/spreading sand for a playground, etc).  I'm nuts.

Lily's concert was last night, 5th grade String classes from about 4 elem. schools all playing together at the Jr High, then the Jr High Orchestra played for us. It was so much fun, and so amazing how much progress the 5th graders have made since December. I keep saying to myself "Lily had never played cello EVER, back in September!". She is so awesome...they all are. The Jr High group knocked my socks off. I cannot imagine that being Lily in a few years! Bathroom renovation is officially happening now that I got the first contractor guy to stop by yesterday. Waiting on his estimate this week then on to the next guy...hopefully by next week's end I will have made a choice and away we go! SO EXCITED! Hugs and/or Vodka to all that need it!

Yes - totally. I was disappointed that last week was just a recap but watched it anyway Stick out tongue

Gina - how much of a remodel are you doing on your bathroom?

I usually get up to spend a little time with DH before he leaves for his shift but woke up to him kissing me good-bye this morning. I just can't seem to kick my rear out of bed lately. Now that the house deal is off, my going 1/2 time is back in play, so that's one plus.

I am loving the change in weather and it's going to get even warmer this weekend. I'm finally going to go buy some plants and flowers and get the backyard spiffied up.

Cathy, ripping out the coffin shower/toilet area and redoing both. The vanities we're not sure about til the estimate comes in. If they're in the budget those are going too.

Tina - Hope Buddy is feeling better later

Jan - I am hoping that file opened for you.  I know that sinking, sickening feeling.

Gina - that is sooo cool about Lily's concert.  I was always so jealous of people that couple play an instrument.  I never could get the hang of it.  My niece plays the piano and it is sooo cool.  Can't wait to see the before and afters of the bathroom renovation.

Gina, I am so jealous of your bathroom remodel.  I can't wait to do ours, but ours share a wall, and there is a closet that we are going to extend into so I plan to totally reconfigure them both, which means we have to remodel them both at the same time, which means a lot more money at once!  Hopefully in the next few years.  I have been dreaming up some other projects too, like reconfiguring my laundry room and pantry.  That shouldn't cost anywhere near as much if you ask me!  :)  And Lily's concert sounds awesome!  I love stuff like that that moves me.

Life has been hectic to say the least.  Just finished up taxes yesterday and so happy to have my weekends totally back....and my leaving early Fridays!!!!  I can't remember if I posted it here but my mom's cancer came back again and it is said to be incurable this time.  So we have been looking into clinical trials.  There are two she is a candidate for.  One shows a TON of promise but it doesn't open up to her for a few months.  So she is going to start on another one in the meantime.  When getting cancer treatment, I have found, nothing moves fast enough on it's own and you totally have to be your own advocate.  I don't know if they are just overloaded with patients or what, but it seems to be the consensus with other people I know on a cancer forum as well.

We got some new patio furniture last week and this weekend we are inviting some friends over to enjoy it and making ribs.  I have been looking up some new quinoa salad recipes to try and my mouth is watering just thinking about them.  lol  It is supposed to be pretty chilly this weekend though.  I hope that doesn't make it too cold to sit outside.

I have no motivation to work today but I better get back to reconciling the credit card before I meet a friend for lunch!  Hope everyone has a good day!

Most of you are probably onto lunch by now, but it's still morning here, so --- my breakfast was steel cut oatmeal with blueberries, a banana, and a glass of OJ.  Ruby shared some banana, and she licks the remnants of oatmeal from the bowl every morning.  I'll be having a tuna sandwich for lunch.

Tina, it seems the older I get, the more often I have nights like you described -- something wakes me around 2am or 3am, and then I cannot get back to sleep for a couple hours.  Of course, I fall into a near-coma about 20 minutes before our first alarm clock goes off, and then it takes forever to drag myself out of bed.

Gina, I bet the concert was fun.  I remember going to my friend's little sister's violin concert years ago -- it was impressive how talented many of the kids were.  I wish I could play something.  I always wanted to learn piano, but we couldn't afford the lessons (or the piano!).  My friend took piano lessons as an adult -- she said it wasn't easy, but she was glad she tried it.

Paige - thinking of you today with the memorial service.  Yesterday you posted about the ribbons and things you're seeing all around town.  That's something I miss about my hometown (small, New England town) -- that sense of community and "family" when something happens to a local resident.  I hope everyone is feeling comforted by all that mutual support.

One of our stores hired a woman whose first name is Twinkle (it's on her proof of i.d.). All I can say is thank you mom and dad for not doing that to me.  Indifferent

It did open! Thank God I backed it up yesterday. WHEW! I have got to get better at doing that.

Twinkle? lol I saw in the paper someone named their daughter Unique. Huh?

I went out today to help a friend post flyers and look for a dog. She got the dog to foster it on Sunday. She put the dog into the house to take another one out, and on her way, the dog bolted. She grabbed the collar, and the dog slipped the collar. She has been seen every day in the area near her house. Some other friends were walking near her house last night at a park, and they actually saw her. They got close, but the poor dog is so scared and skittish they couldn't catch her. We were out for a few hours today looking and distributing flyers, and we had no luck.

I had a bagel with butter for breakfast. I had ordered it with cream cheese, but the guy screwed it up, and there's no simple way to go back in there once you leave, and I had no time anyway.

I once worked at an office where my predecessor's name was Star.  I thought that was bad, but Twinkle is much, much worse.  Don't parents think about what a name will sound like on a full grown adult someday?  It's one thing to give a kid a nickname that they can ditch if they want to later in life.  I don't know -- to each his own, I guess!

Jen, I hope you guys can catch that dog.  It's so hard when an animal is skittish and on the run like that.  How scary for the dog, and how upsetting for your friend (and everyone helping the search).  Sending "safe capture" vibes your way!

Twinkle?!?!  Yeeesh.  I did get a chuckle out of a news headline the other day "Woman named Fellony Arrested"

My name was the only one my parents could agree on.  My Mom didn't want anything too popular or too silly.  My Dad didn't like anything lol.  I'm happy with it :)  My brother couldn't pronounce my name as a kid, so he called me Shashe for a number of years.  My name at work is Lulu or just Lu (honestly, they rarely call me by my actual name lol) - long story.  In fact, my Mom has even taken to calling me Lulu now and then Stick out tongue
