    Friday chat

I'm so saddened by the shooting of five police officers in NH last night.  Two officers in their early 30's are in ICU and the Chief of Police in that small town is dead at the age of 48, just one week shy of retirement.  May God bless all of them and their families.

So....finally a FREE Friday.  No forced fished today!  Seriously, I might just go nuts with dinner tonite.

And, we have some really warm weather on the way, including 84 on Monday?  Wow.  So sorry for the runners in the Boston Marathon...that's gonna be way hot for them.

Have a great day and weekend all.

My significant other's brother is running in the marathon and not too keen on the predicted temperature!

    The shootings are beyond terrible.

My good friend is the Sergant for the Greendland Police, and she's been planning his retirement party which was set for a week after his retirement on the 20th.  She was actually the first to tell me something had happened, but when I was driving away from the area (because it's about 5 miles from my work) it was obvious something bad was happening as 3 police cruisers went screaming past me toward that location.  I am so thankful she took the time to text me to tell me she was ok, but beyond shocked and horrified that her friend and Chief was taken like this.

I'm on my way to a memorial service for a member of my dog club who died on Tuesday.  He was in his 90s.  His daughter is co-chair with me for our Obed show.  I wish I could spend the rest of my day consoling my two friends, but I know D has work that must be done, and B will be surrounded by her family and neighbors who have been supporting them.  B has been in an active battle against breast cancer since December with a mastectomy and other surgeries, while her father fell ill - she's been the caretaker for herself and her father.  Tough times.

My life is easy and I have much to be thankful for.

I'm debating about using a vacation day today. So exhausted.

oh wow -- Paige, Sharon and Glenda -- that's awful news, and just so upsetting.  Paige -- sounds like a really sad day for you in particular.

I had a lovely sneezing jag this morning -- this happens.  I sneezed about 40-50 times (no joke) but I can't drive when I'm sneezing like that so I was late to work.  JOY!

Beyond that, it's at least Friday whoo hoo!!!

I hadn't heard about the shootings either. So sad :(

We had some very nasty weather when I got home from work yesterday. It's unusual for us to get the natl weather service warnings on TV, so it kind of made me nervous for awhile. I was really glad I wasn't driving in it. I had originally planned to take today off and then cancelled that plan because it was going to be rainy. Woke up to the sound of it pouring and decided I didn't want to drive in it and took the day off after all. Decisive, aren't I? ;)

The storms will pass thru today and then we're going to be sunny and in the 70s for the next several days. Finally!!

I saw the story about the shootings on the news this morning.  :(

That's some high temps for the Boston marathon. :(  I hope all the participants stay well hydrated.  In November of 2011 there was a runner in our Rock N Roll marathon who collapsed and died.  He was a seasoned runner, in good shape and only 32 years old.  He ran the 1/2 marathon that day. The cause of death was heatstroke.  The temperature was in the upper 70's F and the humidity was very high.

Just horrific! Lots of hugs Paige

I feel beat up today; cramps, barometer head, and tired.  The weather is just nuts - two mornings in a row of freezing temps and Monday 90* with lows in the mid-60's!

As for the boston marathon - I wouldn't want to be in the last wave going out at 10:40. FWIW every marathon that I've run has plenty of people in the medical tents due to heat stroke/exhaustion and dehydration. Typically it has more to do with the day/night before the race than the race itself, some people aren't hydrated enough or don't have enough salt (seriously). Many load up on potassium rich things and don't have enough salt to balance so when they lose a ton of fluids that balance gets even more askew.  When that happens it really impacts the heart. And as in the example Jackie posted its the humidity - which prevents sweat from evaporating and doing its cooling job

Its my mom's birthday today - I love my mom Big Smile

    Happy Birthday to Karen's Mom!

We really need to see a pic of that sassy hair Deb

Yipee it's Friday!  I allow myself to eat out on Friday's for lunch and I declare today is Thai food day!  I'll have to eat it at my desk, but that's OK.  Not too much else going on here.

I saw your FB post about those shootings Glenda and that's just horrific.  My heart goes out their family members.  So sad.

I'm with Lisa.  We need a pic, Deb.  Or should I call you Ms. Sassy? (I'd never call you short) LOL

I'm like Karen today - cramps, barometer head, tired.

I don't understand all the killing lately. Maybe we are hearing more because of easy access, but sure seems like a lot of angry people out there.

Discovery Channel is airing a new version of "Say Yes to the Dress" tonight; it is "Say Yes to the Dress - Bridesmaids". Ought to be hilarious and full off drama, not to mention bad colors and tulle - lots and lots of tulle.

Those shootings are tragic and sad.  Society will only get worse.  Can you imagine what it'll be like in another 20 years or so!  Actually, in 20 yrs the global population will be too large to sustain.  There's only so much resources to go around and at the rate we're raping the planet...well.

I've been staring at an application for the past couple weeks.  No idea what I should do.  I'd love to go back to school but at the same time I'd feel ancient being amongst a bunch of kids ...err...young adults.  Not to mention it feels like my learning ability is below par as of late.  Decisions decisions!

INSANITY....hehe...I'm still chugging along with it.  It really REALLY pushed one to the limits.  I'm in need of a heart rate monitor cause dude is always talking about checking your heartrate.  I'd swear mine is close to 200 at times!  Surprise  I can almost do a full session!

Anywho, Simon is sitting here crying to me to play laser light with him.  The little nut.  He gets so spun out when I play it with him but he just loves it.  He'd go till he colapsed from exhaution if I let him.

    Happy Birthday Karens Mom!

    Cheers to all!

The tragedy in NH is horrible.  I can't imagine what the officer's family feels like -- heartbreaking under any circumstance, but even worse to think they were probably all so happy that he was soon to be retiring from that career.  Like you said, Tina, I think it seems like there's more of this kind of thing going on these days, but then I wonder if it's just that we hear more about it now.  Regardless, it's terrible, and like Johnny, I worry about what the future will be like.

Paige, it sounds like there's a lot of sadness affecting people in your circle.  Sending good vibes for them, and for you, too.

On a lighter note -- Lisa, enjoy your Thai lunch.  That's my favorite take-out food.  Hmmmmm . . . might have to consider that for dinner tonight!

I'm so glad it's Friday.  I'm looking forward to sleeping in a bit tomorrow.  I've been exposed to several people with nasty cold viruses this week, so I want to stay rested to help ward off any germs that are swirling around me.  I've had some sinus and throat burning/itching all week, but I'm 99% sure it's allergies.

I vote for some before and after photos from Deb, too!

Do it Johnny! I've been staring at a contract for too long. I need to get it to a notary so I can send it back. I haven't had a chance to catch up on the situation in NH yet, need to go do that. My thoughts are with their families. My guy who gave me hell yesterday did such a great job today. Now an hour and a half left with a guy who is always good, and I'm off till 7 am Tuesday.
