    Mosquitos

The mosquitos are terrible this year!  Is anyone else having problems with them?  I went outside with Maggie for a little bit this evening, and when i came back i had several mosquito bites on my arms, legs and neck.  Poor maggie had a few too, including one on the side of her head.  I wish i had put on bug repellent before i went out.

There are so many you can see them anywhere you go.  Does anyone have a solution to keep my dog safe from the skeeters?  Can i put regular human bug repellent on her?

Do NOT put DEET on your dog! It's poison to us and to them, too. If they lick it, it's BAD.

There was a thread about mosquitoes just a while ago....anyone remember where it was? There's some stuff at Cold Spot Feeds here in Fairbanks (you have heard of the world-famous Alaskan mosquitoes, yes?) and other folks mentioned other stuff..

Sorry, I'm brain dead, just got back from a long trip. Hope someone else can post the link.

They have something along the lines of Frontline which covers mosquitos as well as ticks and fleas.  Advantage may include mosquitos.... I dunno, I know they have some.  Dont use anything not made for a dog.

Advantix works on mosquitoes but if you have cat do not use it.
I bought some stuff from my vet called Pet Guard...works pretty well. Heck I've used it on some of our walks even though it says not for use on skin. I may glow in the dark but I don't have skeeter bites.
My vet also mentioned any insect repellant that is formulated for small children is safe for dogs - most of them contain citronella rather than deet
