Is my dog Crazy???

    Is my dog Crazy???

Okay, I have to ask a sort of stupid question! We have had dogs ever since I was a little girl and none of them have behaved this way (it's not bad just odd)

We have an almost 6 month old puppy who is lovable and very cute but has some "odd" traits. Like, when she is playing she will run all crazy for like 10 minutes or so and then if you are on the couch, she will almost "fly" through the air and land on your lap and kiss ya to death! Which is kind of scary to see a dog all of sudden airborne and in your lap.  She will also jump up on the recliner like that using the back of it as a "springboard" almost. None of this is getting her in trouble, just fearful that she could hurt herself.

Is this "normal" doggie behavior? She is supposed to be a GSD/Siberian Husky mix if that helps at all.

    Thanks
    Kristie

    From Labrador FAQ--
    What is "butt-tucking"?
"Butt-tucking" (not limited to Labs) is when your pup suddenly starts running in circles at top speed with his rear tucked under him. Most Labradors do this. It does not indicate a problem with your Lab, either with its temperament or its joints. However, you will want to keep a sharp eye out that you are not injured during this free-for-all!

See---it is perfectly normal! My Lab does this all of the time. I tell him no butt-tucking in the house! Open the door and have him do it outside! Top speed around the backyard! [:D]

ZOOMIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!  My Lucy did them.  She was a GSD/x.  Dose your dog get this wild look in her eye while doing this? ~L~

I thought you were explaining Izzy there for a minute!  Total zoomies!  And mine gets the crazed look in her eyes too!  I have tried to capture it on video but I just can't move as fast as her!

Max used to get the zoomies several times a day. He still does sometimes, but not so much. Being in or near the water stil triggers them (Hey Annie, Max swam today at the park- this was after I pocket called you). He walks around for a while in the water, comes out, and races around like a madman. He usually tries to get someone muddy too. I think he knows we don't like it, because he gets this crazy look, and starts jumping on people. When this happens, just try to stay out of the way. Do not run though, or you will be chased by a mad dog.

Strauss gets the zoomies sometimes during agility class xD

As for butt tucking, I've noticed it's usually the smarter dogs that do this.  They run past a dog to engage the other dog in a game of tag, and when the other dog starts chasing, they tuck their butts in so they don't get touched xD Hilarious to watch, especially with puppies and small breeds!

We call that either scoot loops or blitzes around here.
    Perfectly normal

My 7 month puppy does that a lot....goes running around the house being crazy. She'll even launch on the furniture, and then off, before I can say a word to her! She's not supposed to do that [&:] Jump on the furniture, I mean [;)] I wish I could just let her out when she does that; when she runs around the house, Cassidy chases her, and having two big dogs running around at top speed inside isn't really a good thing.[8|] But I have to put her on her tie out when she is out, cause she can't run loose. Anyway, they have fun doing that. The water triggers it too, cause when we're out by the creek they'll go tearing around chasing each other. Normal 'puppy' behavior and I love to see them play, as long as they don't wreck things! lol[:)]

Zoomies are hilarious!! Dasher is a master-zoomer [:D].  God forbid you are laying on the couch...he knows exactly how to pounce on your stomach.  He has also been known to leap over fat kitties in a single bound!! [sm=rofl.gif]
