OH... MY... GOD...

    OH... MY... GOD...

Please, if you are sensitive to the mistreatment of dogs, please don't read this.

I go to a church where these members have a dog. The members consist of 3 boys, a mother and father. The father ended up leaving to some business trip that was going to last for 2 months. Turns out, during those two months, they did not properly feed the dog, they kept him outside, and left him out in the rain. By three days, the dog was muddy, they didn't bath him. He started scratching, ended up getting fleas, got some skin infectsions. The husband comes back, and showers the dog, buys him food and stuff and the dog is up to date in being heatlhy again and such.

Recently, this is within the past month, the husband has filed divorce with the wife and has moved out, but left the dog with them. My mother just called me (she knew I would take some kind of action), and informed me that the dog wasn't fed for two weeks straight, again locked outside in the yard with no attention or even going through hygene, and it's been raining alot recently. Since the lady claims she doens't have enough money, she's been throwing rice at the dog and he has started to vomit almost every other day.

Tomorrow what I'm going to do is acquire her address from my Pastor and inform the ;proper people about this dog.

you know all of the churches that i have been to teach that you are supposed to love and show compassion for ALL of god's creatures. it seems that this lady has missed out on something at church. of course you shouldnt need religion to show a little common sense in caring for a pet.

for the dog's sake i hope everything works out for the best.

OMG, how cruel!!! How much does a feaking bag of Old Roy cost??? Like 10 bucks for a big bag I believe, why the heck dont they buy him some food???? Also if they dont have any money they should take a few pieces of board and build him a lean to and call Animal Control to seize him. Man please call Animal Control and I HOPE this lady gets a good fine!

    [:(] and [:@]...

This is terrible. Just to go into detail about this lady, she receives food stamps and such, and I remember a few times at the church members put their money together to get her food and to pay a bill so she wouldn't lose her home. She is in way better condition now. Last I heard, she was in a house and everything. My thing is, I ran across dog food that was 9.99 at Petsmart, a bag that could last maybe 2 weeks? I don't know, it's not really healthy, but it's something for the dog, and I think I'm going to buy the dog some food and call her to wash her dog, take him to Petsmart and get his nails clipped and all that good stuff. Still reporting it though.

Okay, it's late and I'm tired and kinda cranky so I'm going to play devil's advocate here.  Where the heck is the husband?  Why did he not take the dog?  Where are the children?  I hope that they are not living in such horrible conditions as the dog.  Maybe it's just me but he bears just as much responsibility in this as she does, especially if he has seen what she's capable of in the past.  Do not take that as an excuse for her behavior. Christi

The children are there and I do believe they are well taken care off. The husband I believe ran off living in some apartment and no one knows where he is, in other words, he abanoned them. I see the kids at church and they look well groomed and healthy, they have video games. Hell, the oldest has a Nintendo DS Lite. (129.99 new)

Nice. How does that saying go?  "The more I know people the more I like my dog."

even if they had the money to take care of the poor guy ,it seems to me they wouldnt take care of him anyway..

i would try talking to the woman, and if she is reasonable,i would ask her right out if i could take the dog and foster it if i could till a proper home could be found..if she is not reasonable.i would take other actions...2 weeks with out food, the poor thing is lucky to be alive in that environment..

i would wait till late at night and take him myself.....i know its not legal, and i wouldnt advise it to you,but somethings are a bit above the law.i know i am going to get slammed for this, but i hate seeing a poor pup dieing by the day for no reason than someone doesnt care and it seems like an emergencty situation...just hope one of the boys doesnt bring home another one..

i have seen some animal control people who dont seem to even like dogs, and are lax on thier job..i hope you get in contact with a good one immediately and they jump on it..

3 months ago a neighbor kid  a mile down the road got off the school bus and got to his yard and kicked his dog in the head...all the kids on the bus saw it...from what i heard later, this friendly dog has turned aggressive and doesnt like anyone...i ride by frequently and havnt seen the poor pup...ever think there are too many people in this world?

If they can afford the Nintendo DS, they can afford a bag of dog food!  GAH!  This makes me physically ill.

She could definitely manage to buy a cheap bag of Ol' Roy ... or ANYTHING ...

i cant see this...if i were in the same position,i would give up the dog...even in a shelter he might have a better life than dieing on the end of a chain in the rain.

Actually, I may just do that! The problem though is I don't know where he lives. Now, I just adopted (as my other topic implies a little bit down from this page) my second dog, he is a small puppy and was really cheap, only 89.99, the bad thing is, I blew off alot of my pay check in puppy things, crate, toys, food, bowels, I love going over board like that, anywho, I don't have money to take him to a shelter. The one I know of I believe says it's 109 to care for a dog. They are called CAP, pretty famous, but I honestly don't know their track record, infact, I wasn't to impressed from what I saw when I went to go pick up Buddy.

That was the first time I ever went to a shelter, maybe they are good, but I don't have anything else to compare them too. To cut is short, I could take him to a shelter but as I said, I don't have 109 to spend.

Wait... is it donations or do you have to pay? I'll find out.

If it's a pure-bred dog, can you contact the appropriate rescue group instead of a shelter?

I doubt he is a purebreed but incase he is I'll do that, like I said, I'll find out her address, report, and ask her persmission to get the dog some food and such. As another suggested, I might even take him in for temporary foster care. I'll keep you guys posted.
