Wednesday!

Glenda, based on the limited info you have told us about Mike, I can almost guarantee, he would want you to keep on enjoying and keep on living on his behalf!  He sounds like he was a spirited, happy, well liked guy with lots of personality.  Time will start to heal your heart.  Try not to carry guilt about continuing to live and instead do what you do for him and honor him by carrying on his spritied nature.  We all know where he got that from anyway.  ;)  Safe travels today.

Hubs is going in for the big snip tomorrow.  He is acting like the BIGGEST baby about it!  I keep replaying the more gory details about birth anytime he acts that way to remind him that it isn't that bad.  Assuming he is up to it, we are going to have some people over and make ribs for the Super Bowl!

Both kids have realy yucky coughs right now so they are both heading to the Dr this afternoon.  I hope I can get Coop his 2nd flu shot while we are there, and will be happy to have the Dr take a look in his ears as well.

Hope everyone has a good day!

Sarah, good vibes to your hubby for tomorrow's procedure and to the kiddos for their doctor visit.

Belle was a sweetie at the Vet's office.  She was giving the new Vet lots of kisses and getting kisses back. :)   The Vet told me I was crazy when I said Belle is our wild child dog.  hahahah  If she only knew...

Glenda, I'm positive that your son would want you to enjoy the sunshine...every day.  He's not in that box in a bag, he's all around you, in spirit.  It is hard, and confusing and unfair.

    Exactly what she said. (((Hugs)))

Raining and gloomy this morning but since we need the rain, I'll not complain and after today it's back to sunny and warmish.

My former boss stopped by yesterday with the dog they adopted from the border collie rescue. She's 2 yrs old, red & white and drop dead adorable!! I'm so happy for all of them.

Does this seem right? - I saw on the rescue's website that they have a dog who'd had an intestinal obstruction and couldn't afford the $1800-$2000 for the surgery and were going to have to euthanize the dog. The vet's office called the rescue and they agreed to pay for it if the owner surrendered the dog. They now have the dog up for adoption. I guess I kind of understand the rationale but it makes me sad to think that the owner's know their dog is alive still and yet they can't have her. Maybe I just overthink things Hmm

2nding what others have said Glenda.  From the wonderful things you have shared about Mike, I am certain he wants you to live and enjoy life, just as he was.

I kinda feel the same Cathy, that is sad.  Maybe there's more to it?

Cathy, if the owner still had the dog but the dog had been accepted by the rescue but not yet surrendered to the rescue, I can understand the Vet's position.  They wouldn't necessarily want the owner, who was placing a dog in rescue, to get the surgery for free and then decide they would keep the dog.  Sounds like the owner still had the dog and had not officially surrendered the dog to the rescue.  I think the owner should be grateful that the vet agreed to waive the fees so the dog could live and find a new home.  If this isn't the case, then I have no clue.

In my circle of coworkers and friends, it varies quite a bit.  The younger guys at work are very dependable and respectful of their elders.  At least to our faces. lol

Here's what how the story reads on their adoption page -

On January 5, 2012, we received word of an 8 month old Border Collie female who was in very bad shape. She had an intestinal blockage and needed emergency surgery. Her owner couldn't pay the $1800 to $2000 estimated bill, so they were going to choose euthanasia. The animal hospital employees contacted our rescue to see if we could help save this little girl. We agreed and the owner relinquished "Taffy" to our rescue. "Taffy" had the surgery and so far, she is doing very well.

    • Gold Top Dog

That is sad for the owner but I still can understand it from the Vet's viewpoint.  Another lesson for owners to have some sort of emergency fund or plan for their pets.  Maybe if this was the owner's vet, the vet knew something that wasn't shared about the owner and the level of or lack of responsibility.  Just not enough info to make a judgement from here.

Yes Jackie - I totally agree about there not being enough information and also about the importance of having a fund to cover these types of emergencies. I can't imagine being faced with the only option of having to euthanize my dog. In my younger/poorer days, I could've been that person though.

As for Super Bowl plans, we really don't have any.Since the 49ers aren't in it, I'm less excited about watching the game and no one I know is having a party. I do love all things Super Bowl related, especially the food and drink part Big Smile

    • Gold Top Dog

We're going to a Super Bowl party at a friends house after we pick up Hannah.  Probably won't stay for the whole thing since she'll need to be going to bed before its over.  Would have been much more interested in it if the Saints had made it, but its still a great excuse to get together and over eat! :D
