    Baby Gate vs Dog Gate

Just real quick, has anyone priced baby or dog gates lately? I was just curious which was cheaper. I am going to go look tonight.

I didn't know that they made "dog gates", I have always used baby gates.

I purchased one from Superstore (Canada) about 1 week ago for $20.00 CAD.

You can usually find baby gates at consignment stores and second-hand stores, so if you buy them that way, they are cheaper. That's where we got ours.

Yeah, I think all baby gates are sold as dog gates.  The last one we got as a gift was $100 but it's black metal, extendable up to 8 feet, I think, and mounts to the wall.  The cheap spring loaded ones work pretty well, but will leave marks on some surfaces.

I found they were all very expensive.  However, Walmart, (I think... if not, Kmart) had one for only $10  in the baby section!!! The rest seemed $35 and much much higher.

Yep, we picked up our baby gate from Walmart for 10 bucks. It's the cheap wood and plastic kind, but it stops Grey from eating all the cat food and the cat poo, so who cares lol.

I really do wonder how many people actually buy baby gates for human babies.

They're the same things, except they are sold in the petstores for more money.

Marlania, I often wonder who buys them for babies as well. When my sisters and I were little, there were never baby gates in the house (though we didn't have stairs). Now, we have three baby gates. There were 2 more, but I put chain locks on the outsides of the doors instead.

We started with the 10$ wood and plastic one but it didnt last long. The little dog chewed her way through it in minutes! Not to mention the bigger ones learned that if you hit it hard enough it will go down! We had to upgrade to a wire one.It might make sense to start with the wire one even if it costs a bit more.

I have 2 of the cheap ones from Walmart and another one that I also got from Walmart for I think $20. I got them for my daughter, but they work for Missy (my pup) too. I have one in the doorway to the guest bathroom to keep my daughter out. There isn't a window in it and if I keep the door closed mold starts to grow. I don't want her to splash or God forbid drown in the toilet so thats why that one is there. The other is in the doorway to the office so I can work on the computer withoput closing the door and she can't mess with the computers (apple juice + keyboard  is not a good combination LOL) The bigger/wider one blocks the entry to the kitchen for obvious reasons (hot stove, cleaning supplies etc.) So yeah, there are people who use them for their kids [;)]

I bought one for the baby at Walmart for like 10 dollars also. Not for Lizzie shes too scared to go up the steps [;)] Had to put a nail in it since my on broke it when he tried to close the door!!
