What is the Best Size Dog type?

What is the Best Size Dog type? toy, small, medium, large, etc?

I don't think there's one "best" type. I think it depends on the owner and the breed. For example, not only do I own 2 Boston Terriers, which are small dogs, I also own a Rottweiler. So for *me*, there really isn't a best size. While size is a consideration, I look at the "whole" breed not just one trait before I decide to add that particular breed to my family. [:)]

That's a matter of personal preference, there is no one "best" for everybody.

I pick med sized dog, anything else larger could not survive in my house. I like large dogs a lot but med sized seem to fit better into my lifestlye pluse I like taking my dog for a walk and anything smaller just wouldn't feel right to walk (or run) as much as I walk my dog.

Just what size I like, everyone is free to choose whatever size they think is the best for them.

For me, Sofia is the perfect size: 45 lbs. Not big, but most definitely not toy. Fits in the front seat quite nicely as my Early Moose Warning System. [:D]

Depends on the person. I like medium-large dogs. Anywhere between 25-50lbs usually, of course I do have my exceptions though but I'm definitely not a small or giant breed person.

I always had, and  ;preferred large dogs, but..... now I have  dogs that weigh 75, 63, 25 and 7 pounds. So I guess I love dogs of all sizes.

It depends on preference.  I had a Rott and at that time he was perfect size now i have a Shih Tzu and he is perfect size for me now.  I think alldogs are great regardless of size.[;)]

For me, it depends more on temperament-personality and activity level more than size. That falls between 15 - 65 lbs! (for me)  It can also depend upon your living space, and the time and attention you can truly give your dog.

I personally  am not very drawn to the toy breeds, they just look so fragile and I'm scared I'd step or sit on them or something and hurt them. My preference is  a mellow laid back affectionate dog sometimes playful but not always in your face with it.  And I've been lucky with 98% of the dogs I've been blessed with during my lifetime.

I love Newfies (landseers my fav!) and think "moutain dogs" like Swissies, Bernies and Appenzells are gorgeous, but in all fairness I know I can't fulfill their space excercise and feed needs,  so they're not really an option for me (now watch, someone will toss one out on my doorstep and sure enuff, I'll take it in! )

My Swissie is 150 pounds.  My Gordon Setter 65 pounds.  My Pug 25 pounds.  And they are all a pain in the butt at times!!!

There is no doubt that my Swissie's size creates the most havic and problems at times.  Like he can't fit in the car, he can only ride in the back of the SUV.[:)]  The groomer needs 3 people to lift him into the tub![:D] And then she has to ask them to help hold him still while she does his nails.  And how many times did my husband and I have to lift the entire deck table so he could get out from under it.  He gets wedge under it trying to get my pug who hides from him and then he can't get out.

My Gordon the old man.  His size brings him perfect coffee and end table hight, so one swoosh of his beautiful tail and away our glasses go!

My pug:  What can I say, she is spoiled and does what ever she wants just because she is small we baby her.  She still wets on the floor on occassion, chases my cats and jumps on everyone!![;)]

    They are all wonderful.

For me, I would have to say I like large dogs best. 50-80 lbs or so. I've never had a really big dog, like Bernese Mountain Dog, Dane, St. Bernard, etc, but I think my dogs are a good size [:)] I'm not really fond of little dogs, but it depends on the breed, medium is good too. My Lab puppy, 7 months, is still small enough to fit most places, like in her crate...and I've gotta say it's nice having a 'smaller' dog....I think she's 50 lbs now, but just barely. Cassidy's a good size, 72 lbs now.

I like mine under 20lbs. Any future dogs will be under 10 for maximum puppy spoilage. :)

we have two dogs and they are complete opposites...love them both

I just love them all. For the time being, my lifestyle is better suited to small dogs. I'd really love to have a Doberman Pinscher in the future, and a Standard Poodle.

I like all sizes! My second choice for getting a dog before I got Maisie was a pit-bull and a great dane[:-] it's the personality that counts
