    Tuesday talking

Well, the good news is that it's warmer today.  We got a smidgen of snow overnight and were supposed to have sleet and freezing rain by now, which hasn't happened, so that's good news.  Hopefully we can skip over that part and go directly into plain old rain this afternoon.  This time yesterday the temp was -6, today its 31.  Freaky.  But, I will definately take the 31!

So, somehow today I have to figure out how to make the two computers not only see each other, which they are doing, but also communicate with each other, which they are not, figure out how to let BOTH of them have internet.....right now I've bypassed the router so the main one can do it's thing, and plugged directly into the modem......and put a password on a new user on the main computer.  This is going to be an interesting day!  Want to hurry the DH along so I can get there early and get started on that since I'll have to keep the privacy curtain closed while I'm on the phone so I don't have to keep answering questions while we are paying for tech support.  But, guys??  Hows that for a computer idiot??  I bypassed the router!!!  How cool is that??

I may be back to boast a little if I can figure all this stuff out!  And, I did manage to get the privacy screens installed!  Yeah, real big deal, but.......

Wishing everyone the very best day today!

Warmer today, but rainy.  Did my taxes this weekend and submitted them yesterday!  Whoo Hoo!  I love turbo tax!

Tina -- rotsa ruck!! it's a scarey thing waiting for a mechanic!! May he be GREAT, studley, single, and just decides he'll fix it cos he likes you so much!! (if you have any old brass lamps you might want to give them a rub - if he were a genie it might not be so bad either!!) -- sorry, waiting for a mechanic always wigs me out -- it's like waiting for the other shoe to drop - my usual luck is "Ma'am = there's good news and bad news .. the good new is I can fix it, the bad news it ... well ... it's $.25 for the part and ... about 5 hours a labor" -- know what I mean? (and when they start that sentence with "Ma'am" .... *sigh*

Fortunately, I think it is the belt like Karen mentioned.  The repairman said I'd probably be back in business for a total of $145.  If it is going to cost more than a new washer ($400-500) then I guess I'll be looking at washers this weekend.  I am not going to get worked up about it but will make a plan instead.  It hurts, for sure, right on the heels of my furnace expense.

No brass in my house - spent too many years in the service polishing the stuff and won't go there again.

Rainy with some freezing here, so it's treacherous.

If you know the make and model of your washer you might be able to look up how to replace the belt and do it yourself. On most pre-HE models it isn't too hard to do. Just a thought as the belt is likely only $30 or so

Struggling with mom's visit - I just can't get my head around her sudden helplessness and dependence. I mean I get that when she visited us in England she didn't drive but here???? 100, 99,98.......

Early walk with Beastie - I prefer getting out before dawn but the world is so full of fresh fox, deer and ? scent it makes it tough on my shoulders

Alright work to do before determining what I'll do with my motherTongue Tied

Today is my 25th anniversary.  I just turned 50 a couple of weeks ago  . . . so I've been married to Mr. W for half of the whole time I've been alive.  That kind of weirds me out a little.

    Happy Anniversary and congratulations!

I used to think it weird that my mom has had my Dad's name longer than she had her maiden name.

How incredibly stupid is it to post a pic on FACEBOOK of your 10 carat diamond engagement ring?  I do hope they get to plan a wedding and not a funeral....

I thought of that, but I have few tools and am not mechanically inclined. I'd probably end up doing more harm than good. Huh?

Totally understand, may have even demonstrated this theory a few times in my life Wink

Happy Anniversary, Deb and Mr. W.  :)

Hope the washer repair is minor, Tina.

WTG, Glenda on the computer work.  :)

Karen, I wish I was there to help with your mom.  It's so much easier when you aren't so close to the situation.

Marty, that's crazy about the ring.

Nice weather here today.  High in the upper 70's. Cool

Someone who hasn't seen my brother for a few years saw him yesterday and told me he didn't look well and they were worried about his health.  I wish he were the type to take care of himself but he's not.  He has no health insurance and for now, no job.  I don't know that there is anything wrong with him but I do worry about him even though he doesn't want anyone worrying about him.

    Happy anniversary!

Jackie, are you and your brother close? Can you give him a spontaneous phone call to touch base?

Tina, sorry you've had such bad appliance luck!!

Jackie, are you and your brother close? Can you give him a spontaneous phone call to touch base?

Yes, we're pretty close and talk every few weeks.  To me, he doesn't look unhealthy but he has lost some muscle.  He's always been extremely fit and strong.  He's not getting any younger so I've attributed his muscle loss to being a bit less active.  Hopefully, there is nothing serious going on because I doubt if he knew, he'd tell anyone to avoid us trying to get him to go to a doctor.    He's stubborn and proud to be stubborn. :(

    Morning!!!

It was 61 degrees when I got up this morning and dropped to 33 within an hour.  It is now 29.  Guess it is winter :)  Supposed to be back in the 60's again this weekend.

Happy Anniversary Deb and Mr.   Do you have big plans?

Jackie sorry you are worried about your brother.  I dont see mine much, but he lives next door to my parents so they keep me informed on his well being.

Tina...***whispers so appliance gremlins dont hear me***  I bought my last washer/dryer at Maytag store.  They had been trade in  and were in excellant condition.  Paid 150.00 for the set and it has been 5 years, still works like a charm.

Gotta get back to my inventory,

    Have a great day all!

Tina, I'm in the same boat. The ladies on this forum are giving me the courage to attempt the belt replacement myself, or atleast to look up how to do it. I think it is going to lead to a new washer and dryer though for me ;p I was looking the other day at the refurbed stuff and the prices are pretty decent. I'm not afraid of refurbed at all so I might just go that route. We'll see.

Karen sorry your mom is being so frustrating! And Jackie, hopefully it is just depression with your bro about the no job and no ins. thing and things will pick up. Give him a ring and see how he is doing.

Happy Anni to Deb and DH!

It's pretty soaking wet here with the 6-8" of snow we had that melted along with rain on top of that. This winter has been crazy!

Yesterday's trip to Midland was exhausting. I left around noon and didn't get home until nearly 11pm. It was foggy as heck, making driving pretty stressful. The temps were just above freezing so it was iffy if there would be any ice. The trip was good though. We worked with Abbie then Abbie and another dog and Abbie with Lily. Suprisingly Abbie and Lily were worse than Abbie with the other dog. I was pretty surprised by that! It reminded me how much I've been neglecting Lily's training. She is rude and obnoxious in general. So, it's back to basic training with her.

Now, to go live out west for 4 months or not? This is the question of the week.

    Happy Anniversary Deb!! Drinks

Tina - I hope the repair is less than expected. You sure have had a run of expensive bad luck lately :(.

Jackie - I hope your brother is doing okay and it was just a matter of a friend not having seen him for awhile.

They said our temps were really going to drop last night but I was pretty shocked to hear the freeze protection come on for the pool equipment at 9:30. We were in the high 20s this morning too - brrrrrrr. We are FINALLY supposed to get some rain later this week.

I worked out at Grace yesterday and had a great time and the weather was chilly but sunny. I helped muck a huge paddock area and today my arms are pretty achey. It felt good to burn some energy off though. I also took a woman and her 2 little girls on a tour of the ranch and enjoyed seeing the smiles on the girl's faces, especially when they met Wilbur, the pig Big Smile.

I have lots of work piled up agan and a conference call to sit thru for the next hour - blech!

Julie - I think you've got a very tough decision to make. I'm not sure what I'd do but I'd be tempted to jump on this opportunity. I wish there was something here in California for you.
