Plain old Thursday

Gosh, I had mono when I was in college, and it literally wiped me out for several weeks...

    • Gold Top Dog

I never knew getting mono was stupid.  I thought it was just one of those bad luck things that happen.

    DougB
Stepped out this morning and took a deep breath-my nose hair froze.

ROFL!  I haven't had that happen yet this winter - thanks for the heads up!

Local school district is closed due to the norovirus, a highly contagious viral infection. It does not discriminate against age groups and can take forever to get out of an environment.  Now I'm twice as glad I don't have contact with anyone from the school.

Hey Ginger?  Just a quick correction....that's the TOUGH old broads club.

Doug?  You are welcome to have our cruddy weather.  I certainly don't want it.

I got sick from norovirus a while back = not good but an excellent weight loss tool

Doug I remember those days and having my eyes freeze shut because they were tearing.  <= why I don't live on the Canadian border anymore LOL

Heads up! Big Lots is doing 75% off Holiday items - this includes dog toys Yes So I have two new bags of stuffies for the de-stuffer all for $11.  The trick now is to get them from my car to the storage closet without him knowing.

Mom's flight is finally in the air and I will need to go get her in a half hour or so.  She cracks me up she sent me a text "thank goodness for my phone I downloaded a free book and at least have something to do"  Good job mom!

Ginger I am very glad to hear Rocky is on the upswing!

No, I don't actually mean that getting mono is stupid, I mean the people I work with on this case have constant issues, and cancel a lot. It is annoying. Mono is probably the least dumb of some of the things these people have had go on.

Hiya's all, good thoughts and hugs to those that need them and virtual long underwear to those that need those! LOL.

Today was Eli's annual ARD meeting at school. I blogged the details HERE if any folks are interested in how that went.

It's cold here today too, but is supposedly going up to the 50/60's as we get into the weekend. Sheesh! A body cannot acclimate to either when they switch so fast!

Cleo is eating like a horse now she's spayed. I am actually going to have to cut her back some I think. She's not fat, but she is much more filled out than she was prior. Crazy what hold hormones have on the body...animal or human.

And someone pass me a BRICK to put on my daughter's head(?) she is GROWING too much! I bought her jeans in a 12 slim and they FIT a month ago and now they DON'T! Her hips are wider now...ACK! I ordered some regular 12's. I was tempted to get the 14's but I know those even with an adjustable waist would be baggy as could be. *sigh* She is getting so picky about her clothes too, everything has to fit just right, not too tight, or too loose...*grumbles*.

Gina - I love reading your blogs and I'm sooooo happy that the meeting went as well as it did and that you're feeling more comfortable with the whole process. I understood your thoughts on the retesting right away but agree, as did you, that waiting is probably for the best. I'm mainly just glad that Eli has such an awesome team, including his family, working on his behalf Yes

I think I've finally caught up on my sleep and feel much better today. It helps that the sun is shining brightly too, although the mornings are still pretty darn chilly.

I'm still catching up on work but I think I might have it all under control by the end of the day. I only have to work 1/2 day tomorrow and then we get a 3 day weekend - woohoo!!!

ETA - My brother had mono when he was in late teens and I remember him being very sick. I know of 2 little ones (5 ish) who were diagnosed with mono this year too, so it definitely can hit all age groups.

I am soooo close to paying off my credit card debt! I used to pay off all my charges when I got my statement, but I just got behind. Then it just kept compounding and I couldn't keep up. It's been just over a year and finally now I can breathe. I think with my next two paychecks I should be able to pay it off. Woo hoooooooooo!!

And now I feel like shopping. Devil

Darn, the cancellation is not for the day I thought it was. Still gonna go to the conference though as long as the weather is okay. Oh well, at least next Friday I won't have to do the race around and get the dogs thing. Can I be annoyed with my coworkers that when I marked certain things as needing to be done daily, as opposed to others which could be every other day, there were multiple days in a row in which they did not do those things, but did complete other, every other day items several days in a row. I don't just pull those decisions out of my rear end. I want them done daily because they are things that will help the kid do other things, or they are actual things a person needs to do everyday (like washing your hands).

Gina, good luck with the newfound pickiness.  My mom used to dread taking me shopping.  Now I couldn't care less. Smile

Callie, is there a Cost Plus World Market anywhere near you?  They always have a ton of Walker's shortbread cookies.  There's one about 5 min. from me, so anytime you get a craving, just give me a yell and I'll send you some.

Now I'm going to go toss my rice bag in the microwave because even though the sun is out and it's in the high 50s, my hands are absolutely freezing.

*nope* but we're good -- David put in a big Walker's order before Christmas (you wouldn't want to see a Scotsman without their mince pies for Christmas wouldja??  I'll take mine with a bit of whipped cream -- and the ones with Glenfiddich in them ...  YUM!!)

I actually send my folks Walker's ginger cookies for Christmas (I send my Dad a whole big box of the "individuals" so Mom can make sure he doesn't eat 6 at one sitting! LOL).

This weekend is the Highland Games and they'll have all of the above plus all the "goodies" they all remember from when they were kids!  (There are a lot of "transplanted Scots" here in Central Florida actually).

Walker's isn't expensive to order from their website if you order when they have free shipping, and they keep well.

But I'll tell you -- the best shortbread ever is what David makes -- his shortbread is melt-in-your mouth good  **if** you like buttery shortbread

ROTF....oh yeah, I forgot the "Tough" part Stick out tongue forgettfulness is part of my credentials for membership...

I think I have a craving for buttery shortbread, yummy

Lol @ nose hair freezing. Yeah, sounds like winter. There's nothing quite like your nose hair freezing or icicles on your eye lashes.n

It is snowing here now too. Roads were fine today until around 5ish. Then I came home and saw my neighbor totally smashed her car into a parked car on the street. Doh.

I'm a bit discouraged with my insurance. I used to pay nothing for my light treatments. Just an office visit once a month. Now I have to pay $25 per treatment. The light treatment literally lasts 60 seconds. I stand in what amounts to a tanning booth then I leave and I do this 3x per week. So, 3x per week at $25. Thats $300 per month! That is so not in my budget and I just can't afford it at all. As an alternative, the ins will pay for me to rent my own at $25/mo but it requires a script from the doc and the doc refuses to do it. She claims the liability risk is too big. Ugh. I can't outright buy one either without a script (since it is fda regulated medical equipment), which again she won't do. In the mean time, I can't do creams because my skin is too sensitive (just had an allergic reaction to the last one) and I have side effects to the extreme and this psoriasis is speading all over my face and my scalp is crazy out of control itching and on fire (and this will eventually cause my hair to fall out). I'm ready to research driving to canada to see if i can buy one there. In the mean time, I am hitting the tanning salon but only 10% of the light there is uvb, which is what stops psoriasis, the rest is uva. Better than nothing but not ideal or quick. I just hate ins companies and greedy doctors. I wish I could just sign some "i will not sue if i get skin cancer" form and have her write me a script.

Ok sorry if that was tmi for anyone. I got on a rambling roll!

Im back to my normal start time for work tomorrow. Whew, these 7 am mornings this week have been KILLING me. Lisa, I don't know how you do it.

I've been looking at these too -- any chance you might find another doctor to prescribe it?  These machines are NOT cheap, I know that.

Itch?  I live it too --
