Irish Boston Terriers...

    ~LOL~ Pogo.  That's GREAT!

I've had people ask me if Aspen is a miniature Border Collie.  Um, yeah.  People ask me what Grady is & I tell them he's a Dogo Americana.

    As Dogo owners, we get
told our Dogos are pit bulls and are very dangerous all the time. Mind you we get told this by people who wouldn't know a Chihuahua from a Great Dane. Well sometimes out of exasperation we will make up stuff to tell people. This is what a friend of mine from the Dogo club told a particularly annoying lady.

One day this lady was insisting our Dogo was dangerous and asked me 'If it wasn't a Pit Bull, then what was it?!' I told her the dog was a Jamaican Beer Dog and that their purpose was to guard beer casks at breweries in Jamaica. The lady totally bought it, and I can imagine her spreading around the story of the big white Jamaican Beer Dog.

    LOL, LOL, LOL.

Okay, my story's not that funny, but people are always asking me if Joey is a "shnoodle."  Now my father was the president of the National Animal Control Association and later the president of a handful of local Humane Societies, so I really can't stand designer breeding.  So I always answer with "I don't know, I just rescued him.  He's just a well loved mutt."

But I always talk about this with Silly Sally, who is one of my friends outside of this forum.  She says I need to tell people he's a hamsterdoodle.  Hopefully she posts her funny stupid people and misunderstandings about pit stories.

I had a very well informed cashier at PetSmart tell me outright that my Smooth Collie was actually a Pit Bull.  I gave him an odd look and said "No, she's a purebred Smooth Collie. No Pit Bull in her at all."  The cashier responds, "No, she's definitely Pit Bull.  You can tell by the long nose."  I waited for the punch line, but realized HE WAS SERIOUS! [8D]

Here's my long nosed Pit Bull ... (that's her in my avitar too - you can really see the length there ...)

lol--I have been told Sally is a "tiger pit bull"--not JUST a pit bull, mind you, but a "tiger" pit bull.  I have been told she looks NOT like a pit bull, but like "one of those terriers"--not quite sure what that would be...I've also been told she looks like a Cane Corso mix.

Although my favorite is when some lady told me she looked like a pit bull/pug mix...

I think I'm going to start telling people that she is an "Australian Reef Dog"--an extremely rare breed developed by Australian Aborigenes to protent their children from sharks.

I keep forgetting that Sheba is a white wolf....recently someone "upgraded" her....she's now an ALPINE wolf......shoot, and here I just thought she was a white german shepherd...silly me.

Doesn't everybody know what a Basset Hound looks like?  (as they are wearing Hush Puppies)  It floors me when people ask what breed my dogs are.

At my son's soccer game, the ref walked up to me during halftime.  He stared at Jasmine for a bit, and then said, "That's a Weimaraner."
I said, "No sir, she's a Chesapeake Bay Retriever."
He then proceeded to tell me, "I grew up with Weimaraners...lived with them all my life...that's a weimaraner."
Not wanting to argue with the man who called the plays in my son's soccer game, I let it go, "Okay, maybe she does look a little like a weimaraner."
    Hmmmm...I can see the resemblance...NOT!

A woman at the dog park asked me if Newton was a Shar-Pei.  This is Newton:

I definitely see the Sharpei in there!

When Xerxes was about 8 months old, a guy came running up to me and said "Hey, I've been rescuing Dobies for a long time and I've never seen one that color before."

I told him "You still haven't, he's not a Doberman."

    "huh?!"

So I guess I could tell everyone he is a teacup red doberman?

I was asked one day if Tootsie was a beagle.

I get asked all the time how big my "puppies" are going to get... all of my westies are full grown. Oh and one woman proceeded to argue that they really weren't westies they were mixes because she had a dog that looked just like that and he ended up 50lbs which my puppies would probably grow up to be. Also I get asked what other colors my dogs came in after I told them that they are west highland WHITE terriers .. one day I said merle they were like ooohhhh how pretty

My pointer has been called a pit bull and a lab.  The most popular breed of dog in the U.S. and people still think they can come in lemon and white?

My beagle has only been called a basset hound, but I guess that's a little more understandable since the breeds look a little similar but not much.

In a book I read (I think it was Tails From the Barkside- not sure) the guy was walking his deerhound and someone told him it was a llama, and insisted on it. [8|]

That's funny, I have a pitt bull too.  Odd, mine looks nothing like Colliewog's.
