Friday fun chat

    Friday fun chat

Got my comforter back from the dry cleaners yesterday, put it back on my bed, woke up to find 2 fresh mystery spots left by a certain large grey cat.

Am about to get into a confrontation with a snow plowing contractor for charging us to plow at a couple of stores when we really haven't had snow.

Supposed to be near 50 degrees today.  I hope my neighbors take down their exterior Xmas decorations.

Deb, hand me a stiff drink please!

    Winter Solstice Cocktail

    Ingredients

    • 1 1/2 ounces orange vodka
    • 1/2 ounce orange-flavored liqueur, such as Cointreau
    • 1/2 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice, preferably from Meyer lemons
    • Ice cubes
    • Club soda, chilled
    • 1 mint leaf, for garnish
    • 1 raspberry, for garnish

    Directions

    1. In a cocktail shaker, combine vodka, orange liqueur, lemon juice, and ice; shake until well combined. Strain into a chilled martini glass; add a splash of soda. Carefully fold mint leaf in half lengthwise and place the stem end into the opening of the raspberry. Float on top of cocktail and serve immediately.

My kiosk is pretty well fixed, and I won the battle over the additional 4 feet with the floor plan dude.  Actually, I gave in, told DS that we'd just take down the two panals he was fussing about, and within minutes he changed his mind.  Wonder if he just felt the need to get me to give in and then felt he could back down gracefully?

Have to talk to my boss and find out where he wants me and when since I'm bouncing between offices, still checking the voice mail at the main one and people are wanting to set up appointments and I don't know when the gals will be there.    Things will calm down, but right now it feels like I'm a ping pong ball!  Have to get DS down there soon too to run some cable under the floor, and get the internet fixed on one of the computers.  I've made a list so hopefully he won't get too distracted and cause me to forget half of what I want to ask!

I think that I'll reserve judgement on being excited for the weekend until I know what I'm doing with it!

    Pass the vodka someone?

     freakin' YUMMM!

Some people are ridiculous.  I know we're all on our own journeys, but when your path intersects mine and I'm forced to be involved in your lunacy, I get annoyed.  Call me petty.

SOOOO ready for the weekend!  My sister and I are going to visit my father tomorrow for lunch and to retrieve items from his storage unit (and decide if there's stuff of his mothers that I'd like.  Which is nice, because he didn't get much when his father died and doesn't have much of his mother's furniture left, but wants us to have it if we want it.)

    Anyway, happy Friday all!

This made me LOL.  What happens if I don't do it exactly like the recipe says? Huh?

After one of these, I know I wouldn't be able to, nor would I care.

Tina, sorry that your comforter seems to have become the preferred urp spot. :(

Glenda, I hope you can stop bouncing around soon and get things sorted out.

We've got another gorgeous day here and a nice weekend predicted. Chamber of Commerce weather. :)  Monday is supposed to get cold and rainy.  Good hot chocolate weather. :)

We're going out to eat tonight at our new favorite restaraunt.  Can't wait to try another of their drinks made with double barrel tequila.  The food is good too. lol

well, then the raspberry will roll it's eyes and say "Oh nevermind..." and harumph and pout while the mint leaf rolls over and goes to sleep?

It is a festive day in NWA.....pig sooie Razorback...everywhere you turn!!!  Now, I am not  a big sports fan but being this close to the University everyone gets involved.   Many are already at the Cotton Bowl tailgating and others are ready to watch the big game tonight at the various Sports bars and parties.   LOL, I was a cheerleader in H.school but I really just dont get into the whole sports thing....***ducks*** I would rather watch HGTV :)

Well all the Cotton Bowl fans are HERE lol! We live about 15 minutes from the stadium, several years ago before we moved we were within walking distance of JerryWorld. Glad we are no longer! Probably a ZOO around there now and it's only going to get more intense as game time approaches and will be MUCH worse afterwards LOL!

Cloudy day, but I don't think I need to wear the raincoat today. Jan 6, and I have standing water in the yard and street. I am so ashamed. At least the sun isn't shining brightly.

Monday, my MIL, a really nice lady of 92 years, fell and broke a bone. Wife has been in Minneapolis all week. Her brothers came to help. on from N. Dak (drive north to end of world, turn left, drive for two more hours) the other from D.C. MIL had surgery to repair the break and will require weeks of therapy and care to maybe go back to assisted living. She has excellent insurance. Wife and her brothers got MIL into a really good facility . Thus PM, got her settled, and went to dinner. At dinner, wife gets a call from her mother, wanting to know why she and brothers had abandoned Mom. That has to be right up there as a call you never want to get.

It will work out. We, living closest, will probably see lots of MIL.

    That drink looks yummy!!!

It was gorgeous, sunglasses weather when I left home this morning and then halfway here, I hit a wall of fog that made driving scary. It'll burn off eventually and then more mid-60s temps - yay!!

I'm stressing a little about getting everything ready for our conference on Monday. I told DH that I was going to be taking my netbook and he reminded me to keep an eye on it so it doesn't get stolen. Well, last night I dreamt that I left my purse in a phone booth and then went back and it was gone. I was a panicky mess looking for it and woke up with a start. I was one happy lady when I realized it was just a bad dream.

TGIF!!!  Taking Riley in for her glaucoma test this afternoon - that should be fun!  LOL  She will definitely earn a trip to the dollar store!  I hate the puff in the eye thing!  YUCK!

Going out to dinner tonight with the hubs.  I have been scouring the restaurant's menu to see what I am going to get - still not sure.  It'll have to be a game time decision.

I will now say something I haven't said since the year DH and got engaged (2000):  The Lion's are playing in the playoff's this weekend.  The will probably gets their butts handed to them, but they haven't played this late in the season in FOREVER.  Definitely happy to just be here.

I hate that air puff into the eye, and the drops that dialate your pupils are annoying.  Going to the eye doctor is not fun when you're an adult -- it's no wonder poor Riley doesn't like going.  Maybe it'll be a little better since she was just there the other day and hopefully saw some friendly staff.

Doug, the issues with the care of elderly and/or ailing parents can be so difficult.  I can imagine that phone call your wife got was very upsetting.  Hopefully your MIL will settle into the assisted living facility and feel safe and comfortable instead of the fear she was feeling when she called.

Gina -- your imagery of the exchange (or lack thereof) between the raspberry and mint leaf "couple" was hilarious!

Cathy, I hate those heart-stopping dreams where you forget or lose something or feel frozen in place when you need to run.  When I'm really stressed over things (usually work deadlines), it'll show up in a dream somehow.  It's gotta do a number on your heart to go from dream-panic to instant relief when you wake up.

I've got several tasks on my desk I should start, but I can't get motivated to do any of them.  I've had a nasty headache all week and feel quite sub-par, so I'm moving like molasses.  The return of grey skies aren't helping either!  I'm so glad it's Friday and I can sleep in tomorrow morning!
