You have no idea how many people I've inundated with turkey trivia lately.

    I'm sorry Jackie  . . . were you saying something?   I must have nodded off there for a minute  . . . . . . .

LOL!  Just let me know if you can't sleep.  A new cure for insomnia!

    (((Lori)))

I too have had trouble with motivation this week. I've also had insomnia the last 2 nights and then trouble getting up on time. Sleep

Beth, the CEO from Grace, left me a VM msg yesterday wanting to talk to me about Jessie. I called back and got her VM and told her I appreciate her calling but I trust her to make the best decision. I was glad we didn't connect because I'd really hate to start bawling while talking to someone I hardly know.

My best friend's daughter had robotic assisted hysterectomy and some bladder repair done on Tuesday. Katie was very nonchalant about it and said her dr. assured her it'd be a walk in the park, she'd stay one night but could drive herself home the next day. I knew it'd be less traumatic than the surgery I had but found it hard to imagine it'd be a breeze. Sure enough, she's had a terrible time with pain and nausea. They kept her an extra night and hopefully she can come home today. It makes me mad when dr's paint a rosey picture like that instead of giving the best and worst case scenarios.

Cathy, I hope your friend's daughter feels well enough to go home today.  I think the doctors forget everyone reacts differently to procedures, not to mention it's a breeze if you are not the person being operated on.

It's also not necessarily the surgeon who takes care of/checks on the patients post-op so it's a different view of how the patient is doing, IMO. I'm sorry it wasn't as easy as they made it sound, and they really should do a reality check and tell patients what the recovery is like at both ends of the spectrum. For my nose surgery, they were pretty honest about everything other than the tubes up my nose... somehow what I pictured, and what they were in reality, were not the same. But that was just as much my fault for "assuming" and not asking I guess.

I was super fortunate that I faired so much better than most who'd had the same surgery. I did a ton of research though and knew exactly what could happen and how to ward off some of the problems (gas is a biggie). I recommended the site to Katie but she didn't want to check it out and I can understand that too. She's coming home this morning and I hope she'll be feeling better soon. She's lucky to have such a great mom watching over her and her 2 little ones.

Lori, what a thoughtful thing for your vet to do!  You're lucky to have such a special clinic to take your pets to.  It's nice to know the staff have that kind of compassion.  I would give anything to have Tonka's paw print.  We have a tiny bit of fur that I cleaned out of his kennel after he passed, but I was so out of my mind the night he died (and the weeks beforehand) that I didn't even think about making a print.  I wish the vet's office had thought of it.  You'll treasure that memento of Triplet forever.

Cathy, I hope your friend's daughter has a smooth recovery.  It's true that people heal differently.  Where I used to work, two women had hysterectomies the same winter.  Both were the same age and had the same procedure.  One was out of work for 8 weeks and was not 100% when she returned.  The other was begging her doctor to clear her to work by the 3rd week and was zooming around the office as usual soon after.

Glenda, I'm glad you figured out a workable solution to the kiosk situation.  As someone who has had to move my desk and office space twice in the past several weeks, I know how frustrating it is to not have your work area laid out in the most productive way possible.

Happy Anniversary Lisa!  Enjoy your dinner out tomorrow.  A nice meal that I don't have to prepare is always my preferred way to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries.  If you have insomnia tonight, channel surf until you find something a bit more cheerful to watch.  I know how the kinds of shows like you saw about the missing girl can stay with you for days.  You can't stop thinking about what the people involved must be going through.

Motivation at work has been more difficult since my wife retired. Also, I don't seem to enjoy working outside in freezing weather with plumbing problems much any more.

Poor Doug.  What sort of motivation will you have when you're BOTH retired?

Hmm, need to go post a couple things in Training.

Karen, check out a Biotin/Keratin supplement. Or just eat a bunch of Jello every day. Big Smile

((hugs)) Lori. What a nice gift.

Happy Anniversary, Lisa & Mr. Lisa!

Lisa, I can't watch those kinds of shows. They just freak me out too much. Especially they one about that little girl who was abducted and abused for years. Ugh.

I'll have to check out the Bigfoot special, Ginger! Yes

Good thoughts for your friend's daughter, Cathy.

BIL is in town with some of the riders from his snowboard company. They're putting on a rail jam at the local board shop tonight. DH & his buddies are playing music. There will be a bon fire and food too. I'm bringing Willa for a while - I think she'll have a lot of fun.

Egawd, Jello only in the form of shots.  It's still Jello that way, right?

Bugsy just was looking deeply into my eyes............from about 2 inches hoping for a bite of my cheese bread when I noticed something around his muzzle.......................thorns Surprise 9 of them - must have been from our walk this morning when he went off into the tall grass, lol

    Thanks Jano

    I need more FOCUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Gold Top Dog

Channel Bugsy wanting your cheese bread for more focus, Karen. lol  Poor thorn faced Bugsy.  I used to have terrible nails until I started taking a magnesium supplement.  It's the only thing I've changed, as far as supplements for years, so I'm attributing the nail improvement to that.  The magnesium didn't help my toe cramps which is why I started taking it (a friend kept insisting it would help) but my nails are tough as nails now. lol  I can't type toe cramps without thinking of Amy. lol

It's somewhat nice out today so I'm gonna tackle the backseats in my new VAN!! *dances* I've got the owner's manual, which surprised me since it's a used van. A friend is gonna lend me her wire crate for a bit until I can get my own. Maze has already proven that she's more then happy to bounce between seats. LOL

Cathy, I think doctors paint rosy pictures of anything dealing with women's issues because they've never had to deal with them.  I remember my mom telling me that when she was in labor with my sister, the doc told her she wouldn't need any pain meds because "labor pains are just like menstrual cramps."  My mom said "How the he!! would you know? Have you ever had a menstrual cramp?"  She got her meds.

My hands have been freezing all day.  I need to make a big mug of something hot to hold.  It's gorgeous outside and I keep watching the weather reports for some sign of rain, but nothing so far.

Anyone know when (or if) Grimm is coming back?  I keep looking for it, but I can't find it.
