Oh yes all of mine LOVE the car!  "time to go in the car!" and they are all excited!  (Well, Marlin doesn't get excited any longer, but that is age and dementia and such; he used to!)

Lacey is like Heidi - head out the window, and with her doggles on!  Oh that reminds me I must get a photo of Lacey in her doggles, lol.  Lacey will give little whines as we go, waiting to see the end place.  Mine all know "Slater" and "Farm Walkies" as well as a few others, so they do know where we are going, lol.  Sugar is content to sit on the back seat curled in a bed and will even sleep; she's been like this all 5 years I've had her.  The rest are looking out the window to make sure I don't miss a turn!

Oh god.. Car ride is a 4 letter word in my house.. Even old man Dipstick gets excited! I do have crates set up for long distance rides but I also allow my guys loose if I'm just doing running around town. Maze will whine and chatter if she thinks she knows where I'm going.. And she'll let me hear about it if she feels I missed a turn.. lol

Good topic to warm back up -- I didn't get a chance to post to this before.

Mine all love it - and I've honestly never had a dog who didn't love love love the car.  Because we GO places!! RAH!!

I have never understood people who say how much their dogs hate the car and the vets -- it's **training** -- you take treats, you make that place an awesome place to go.  If a dog is reluctant break it down to small increments.  Get in the car, treat and get out.  Get in the car, treat, back up 10 feet, treat and get out.  Drive to the mailbox another time, treat and that's it.  They'll ditch the old associations and most happily get excited.

IT IS WORTH IT to have a dog who happily goes to the vet thinkng it's the greatest place on the planet!! "BOY OH BOY Dr. Bailey!!!"  Just take the time some afternoon to go to the vet, hand out some treats to the staff and let them "make nice" and everbuddy sayd "HI ya" and we go home.  What's not to like?

Luna doesn't "love" riding.  She probably gets a bit carsick we think.  She's fine in town, but particularly on the interstate if you have to change lanes suddenly -- she'll whine a bit.  Opening the rear windows helps her a great deal -- just "sniff room" (I don't ride with the windows down and heads hanging out.  Those are *my* rules.)  In my own way I'm very rigid -- everyone has to stay where they started out -- no running around in the car (not even if it's stopped).  David, when he's driving, tolerates even less movement in the car.  But with both of us you sit your butt down and STAY **there**.

But pretty much it's always "Job #1" to train a newbie to the car and going to the vet as soon as they get here.

Tiffy made me laugh -- Prissy, my first dog, was happy living IN the car.  When we'd get home from somewhere she'd look at me like "ok -- I'll just stay HERE ... we'll be going out soon ... RIGHT???????"  One time, she was in the car as I drove around town making quick pick-ups (it was my job at the time) ... and when I got home I couldn't find her!!  She'd fallen asleep UNDER the seat and I had to find her to wake her up!

Sinbad loves the car--he'll sit in it in the garage hoping to go somewhere, if I'm working on something down there. Mosey is a good rider, too. She's not sure that it's fun after a 10 hour drive from Pittsburgh, but we're working on that.

Willow's favorite thing ever is riding in the car.  She will go anytime, anywhere, she loves it.

Yep she does. I think she likes it more than actually being in the car.

My guys are ok with the car.  It's not a huge deal for them because they get to go with me on an almost daily basis.  They load up, curl up & go to sleep until we reach our destination.  Once we arrive at our destination, they usually act insane until they see where we are, then they settle down.
