I found out last night that DH needs to bring a potluck for his office Christmas party tomorrow.  That wasn't on my agenda either.

Mr. W did the same thing.  What do they think - you can pull a pot luck dish for 50 out of your ___ overnight???  I really should tell him to call a caterer.

    Deb W.

I'm sure some deli could make something for 50 people... on the other hand, you could be like my mom, who has been trying to discuss food for my niece's birthday party since at least October (maybe September). It's on January 7th. Honestly, it's a party for a 1 year old, and it's mostly family coming. Most of them will probably bring a dish of some sort, because that's how it's done until they're  old enough to start asking for a kiddie party. But seriously, she was obsessing about the soda the other day. There is no reason to worry about stocking up on soda. You just buy whatever brand of soda is on sale that week. Anybody who cares that much about the type of soda being served typically brings their own anyway.

Regarding my fish from yesterday... there is no chemical reason for the problem as far as I can determine. There's one more thing I can try, which they hopefully have in PetSmart, because I don't have time to run to the fish store today. Hopefully they have it, and it fixes the problem.

Of course I CAN, Tina - it's a question of WANTING to.  Actually, I took the easy way out - I'm throwing together a casserole of kielbasa, saurkraut and potatoes.  I serving it with pumpernickel bread and butter.  I'm a firm believer in KISS !!!   Big Smile

Good point, make him squirm a little.

I don't care how simple it is, that sounds delish right now!

Good luck with getting the potlucks together girls! My office of 11 always does a get together outside of work on our training day here at the base (3rd Wed every month-the Hospital closes at 12 so we get together for lunch). Were gonna go to an awesome seafood place which has awesome Island Shrimp (shrimp rolled in crushed macadamias, almonds, and coconut, served with pineapple sweet and sour sauce) YUMMO! Cant wait for next Wed. We will also have our Secret Santa exchange at lunch that day.

I have so much shopping left to do, I cant think straight. I havent bought not one thing and I will end up being like every other last minute shopper battling each other this weekend. I hope to not get too many elbows to the face.

Marley's final class of training was last night. We dont pick back up until Jan 11th. I dont think I can be away from school for that long (its fun for both of us). Depending on my money situation after this weekend, I might fork up the $75 for a repeat class and do the CGC class again with some of the ladies in my regular class are doing. We shall see...

Well wishes for WHOEVER needs it this Thursday. Glad to hear Gabby is acting normal. Smile

I took the day off yesterday to nurse a cold...thinking I wouldnt leave anyone in a bind.  Found out one of the other girls took off also grrrr...they didnt call and tell me so they were short yesterday.  It was the longest day ever, I hate being sick at home.  I just dont sit still well.  Rocky loved it.  Yea Mommy is home and she is in her chair so she must need a 60 lb furr baby on her lap :)

Tonight is the office Christmas party.  It is always very nice.

Rained cats and dogs yesterday and thunder storms most of the night so we had 1 really scaredy dog and one sorta scaredy dog attached like velcro most of the night.  LOL, I didnt do the scaredy dog pills cause I thought it was going to just blow by quickly.  Prolly should have but Hot is getting much better as long as he can get close to his Daddy.

My granddaughter is on her way home from Iraq.  Yesterday she was in Germany.  I think she arrives in the states today sometime and should be back in Arkansas by the first of next week.  Safe travels for all our soldiers returning home for the holidays.

    Have a great day all!

Deb, I totally understand your frustration about having to double-back to be able to pay for your Rx's.  That kind of thing is happening more and more to me lately.  Twice in the past month I've left the house to pick up some take-out food, only to discover that I forgot my wallet.  I told DH that he may find himself caring for a spouse with Alzheimer's someday, although I'm really hoping my forgetfulness is related to middle-age hormones and not serious brain problems.

My office sounds exactly like yours, Tina.  My coworker and I are the only non-family members in the business, and only 2 of the 5 people in the family are in the office on a regular basis.  They used to take us out for a Christmas lunch, but when the economy tanked, they stopped doing that.  I miss the potlucks and goodies at my prior job, but I suppose this place is healthier (even if it is less fun).

Glad to hear Gabby is eating and eliminating okay today.  Hope she leaves you some "gifts" in her poop soon!

Stood in line again this morning to mail a package and buy a box for another one (so irritating to BUY a box, but I could not find one the right size at home or at work).  I may not get this last one mailed in time for Christmas -- I don't plan to pay some crazy fee for extra-fast shipping!

Deb, your forgetfullness is sounding much like mine!  So far mine hasn't caused me to drive tons extra though.

Ultrasound went great this morning, although Munchkin wasn't cooperating for some of the measurements so it took literally over 90 minutes.  We have a reasonable guess on gender but we're waiting until Christmas to tell the family so I best not spill the beans.

I had to do some crazy running around at work for a coworker which has left me sitting here tired, so I might just take a little break to recover LOL.

I have a potluck for tomorrow too and I can't decide what to make for it.  I hate buying things but I'm seriously out of ideas at the moment and don't have much at home to toss together.

Dang it - I got an oops msg.  I think we're all seeing more of those lately, right??  I think I've seen a couple of posts saying they lost their whole typed msg.  I'll report to Admin.

Ginger, I had something nice to say about your grand daughter, but, bottom line - glad she got to come home for the holidays and I appreciate all the sacrifices she makes (and her family) to serve our country and protect the rest of the world.

My grandmother has an infection in her leg that isn't responding to super antibiotics.  They told her w/out finding another antibiotic that works, the infection will go into her blood and she will die from that.  She said "good, that's what I want".  We've got "weeks not months" if that happens.

I'm exhausted.  I hate Christmas time for a lot of reasons, but this is just sealing it up.

OK, I cried.  I'll be thinking about "Ben"....

Oh my.  I had to meet a client at the office at 10 and am finally sitting down and relaxing for the first time all day.  The guy THOT that the IRS had sent him notices (and of course, well, gee, just ignore them) but once they seized his bank account he called.  Well, 90 minutes on the phone with the IRS and THEY DIDN'T SEND THE NOTICES.  Lovely.  So apparently it was the state.  He was going to run home, pick up the notices that I asked him to bring when I spoke with him last night, and the turd NEVER came back.  So three hours of my day wasted.   Much as I hate to disparage a veggie, this guy must have had the IQ of a turnip.  Oye!

Then we had the fun filled shopping/errand day.  Wanted to get everything out of the way today so that DH can take the car tomorrow...Christmas party is tomorrow nite.  Four grocery stores, drug store, big lots, wally world, gas station, dunkin donuts, the booze store for wine, etc, etc, etc.  Wearing a boot with a three inch heal is NOT a good idea for power shopping.  But, I only had a 10 minute wait at the post office and my packages are gone, Christmas shopping done and the freezer replenished.

    I'm hitting the bottle now.....

Paige, sorry to hear about your grandmother.

Yay for Ginger's grand daughter, and all the other troops who are coming home! I'm also very glad a good friend of mine who recently joined the Air Force (pretty sure the Air Force) will  not be headed into war when he's done his training here.

My goldfish has now died. I went out to work, he was still hanging on. I came back home to grab Luke to go out and buy him some meds, and he was dead.

So today, the school district came out to see one of the kids I work with, basically to determine whether they want to pay to continue the service I provide (they really, really should, not just because I want to continue to be paid and continue with this kid, but because this kid has come such a long way in a few months, but still is not where he should be. It makes sense for lots of reasons, the biggest being that if we continue, he's  got a better chance of catching up, not becoming further behind,  and hopefully being able to go to Kindergarten without needing lots of assistance). So anyway, the evaluators showed up a half hour or so after they said they would, and the kid did great (which was not what we needed). Apparently he did great when they went to see him at his preschool, and he did great when they did their testing. I so hope  (I can get another client fairly easily, if the school chooses not to pay, it will either cost his parents a lot of money to pay for it, or he probably will not make as much progress as he might otherwise) that this observation was more just a formality, because watching for an hour couldn't have given them enough to base any decision on. I would really like to know though if I am continuing to work with this kid, just so I know what hours I have open.

Beautiful story about generous people. It helps to counter all the sad, negative news.

I got a ton of stuff done today. Baked 3 different kinds of cookies, 3 loads of laundry, cleaned and then made fajitas for dinner. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this day off.

Paige, I'm really sorry about your grandmother's bad news.  I'm hoping that whatever happens with her is peaceful and pain free.  (((hugs)))

I baked some cookies and made lasagna for DH to take to his potluck tomorrow.  I haven't sat down since I got home from work till a few minutes ago.  I'm ready for bed. lol

Paige, I love that story. That would be so FUN to do! I've always imagined it would be fun to win the lotto, and be able to go up to some drained parent with a loaded shopping cart in the grocery store and just pay for it. Or see someone walking their dog and stop and hand them a big wad of cash and say thanks for walking your dog! Just random stuff like that.

You guys all know that you can sign up with the USPS (the post office) and if you can figure a weight for a package (step on your own home scale? then on again with the package) you can plug in all the data with the post office and charge the postage to PayPal or your credit card, then print the postage (it's just a pre-paid shipping label) and you can even ask them to PICK UP the package from your home or business?

I'm no huge post office fan, but THIS is nice.  Sometimes the software is wonky but most of the time it works slick.
