    Tuesday Chat

Good morning!  It's chilly here but warming to the 60's later.  Really nice weather and the mud pit has dried up in the backyard. :)

I posted last week about the cashier at the grocery store who was sick and coughing all over my food.  I contacted the store's corporate office about it and heard from the store director yesterday.  He was very good at reassuring me that they do have a policy in place for this type of situation.  He apologized and said they had dropped the ball.  I assured him that I understood how it can happen and also that I wasn't unsympathetic to an employee not wanting to miss work and pay.  He assured me that their policy is to provide work for an employee in a position that doesn't require them to handle food.   I was left feeling very good about the store. :)  I'll send a follow up email to corporate HQ complimenting this manager's response to my complaint. :)

I didn't sleep very well last night and no thanks to miss Belle.  Her crate door must not have been latched properly and she decided to get out and see how high I would jump if she bumped me in the face. :(   I couldn't get back to sleep for some reason and tossed and turned for the next two hours.

32 degrees here, high maybe of 40 for today, including rain & snow.  I knew it would come.

Glad you got a reply from the grocery store, Jackie.  I am sorry Belle was such a brat.

DS came home last night, left the front door wide open with his keys still in the lock.  I'm so glad the cats didn't decide to push on the storm door, which he didn't pull shut either, and escape into the neighborhood.  I'm not so happy about heating the outdoors part of the night.

I'm also happy to see a regular title on this thread.  The grumpy titles get old.  Life is good - let's be more positive!

Excellent response from the store, Jackie

HEAVY rain and wind all night - still raining currently

Stayed up too late watching the Giants embarrass themselves - let's just call me a glutton for punishment

I have several meetings today so he who must be exercised is going to need a walk - rain or not.

    welcome back Deb!

Lies, good vibes for your friend.

    Goodness Jackie!  Not good.

This is the oddest weather, but I'm sure not complaining.  Supposed to be 60 today!  In New England.  At the tail end of November.  Wow.  Rain coming in later and tomorrow won't be as warm, but, I'm sure enjoying not having to wear so many clothes!

It was so very nice to actually do a return yesterday.  Granted it was a 2009 and the guy owes a LOT of money, but he knew that he would and wasn't unduly upset about it.  And I convinced him that the best thing he can do is file quarterly (pay the money) and not have the stress at the end of the year.  He says he'll be back in January to take care of 2011.  I certainly hope he does so....will make his life so much easier.  But, I got to do a return, got to advise, and also got to gaze at his beautiful baby boy.......

AND, I called corporate and got the software issue resolved very quickly.  Gotta love tech support!  I'll call later today and get my access from home restored too.  I found an absolute treasure trove of new courses I need to do!  I know.  I'm sick.  But, gosh, I really love the learning.  I see many happy hours in front of the computer this week!

We're buying a car Party!!! c'mon, sing with me!  LOL

I called a couple other dealerships yesterday just to see -- since Costco only gave me the one choice but I thought others might also participate or at least match invoice.  Got a dealership to give me a price that's something around $700 cheaper for almost the same exact car (the first one had a remote starter which we don't need but this one had extra rubber mats for the cargo).  And the salesman was quite nice and helpful.  The first one wasn't too bad but I liked this guy a lot better.  They have to get it traded from another dealership though so keep your fingers crossed the other dealership is willing to trade  :)  I'm pleasantly happy with the price and experience so far, knock on wood.

Jackie, glad the grocery store got back to you.  I've worked in a couple grocery stores and we had no such policy for cashiers or others.  I wish they had.

Another crazy day at work.  I have to go get blood work drawn for another baby screen sometime in the next week or so but it's not super convenient to get there and it's raining today.  I also have a regular appt this week as well.  I've put on a few more lbs than I probably should have at this point and it's all right in front like a ball under my shirt.  I'm just soooo hungry, constantly.  I eat reasonably healthy stuff but when you're eating every two hours it's rather easy to eat more than you need to!

Oh Belle! Let your mama sleep. I know the feeling of being woken up and then tossing and turning the rest of the night. Sleep

Rolled-up newspaper smack for Tina's DS!

    Welcome back, Deb!

The weather has been odd here, too. It hasn't been super warm, but warm enough for the precip to be rain and not snow. We got a couple of storms earlier, but it's all gone now. Usually we have like a foot of snow by now. I sure hope we get a few good dumpings before Christmas.

Nicole, I have to giggle at all your hungry posts. I was the same way. I swear I didn't stop eating for nine months. No, make that one year and nine months. Breastfeeding makes you hungry too! nom nom nom nom nom...

Congrats on the car!!!  Party!!!  Dealer trades are pretty standard, so that shouldn't be a problem.

When I got pregnant with my first all those centuries ago, I had been eating to stay under 100 lbs, so, not much.  My ex was a maniupulative fish poop and thot that 100 pounds was just too much on my 5'4" frame.  Sigh.  So, I started eating like a normal person and I gained and gained and gained!  68 pounds and my son was only 5 lbs, 5 1/2 oz!  But, it sounds like you are just getting a baby belly where I just got, well, rotund!  LOL.  With my second I only gained 27 lbs, but I was a healthier weight when I got pregnant with him.

Obviously docs don't want to see a pregnant woman do what I did with the first...all that extra weight increases the risk of diabetes, high blood pressure, etc......but I honestly think its silly the way some women obsess about not gaining more than 15 or 16 lbs.  You're "blooming" right now, and I bet you are absolutely glowing and beautiful!  Enjoy this time and don't sweat the small stuff.

Nicole:  I gained 9 lbs. my first month pregnant, which I thought was great.  The doc had to explain to me that 9 x 9 is 81 lbs. and not a good idea !!  I feel ya - I was ravenous !!

Lies, good vibes for your friend.

Thank you Glenda (and the others from yesterday).  I met with my friend and two other friends who understand the situation.  The discussion went well, not as emotional as I thought.  She has made the decision that I and the two other friends feel is best, now we just have to make sure she follows through.  Her dog is going to have to be re-homed due to no fault of his own but my friend realizes that she cannot be consistent with the type of management he needs. Our training director thought of a good person and she is in agreement but I am leery about this arrangement because it is someone we know, someone we will see around.  I feel it is better for the dog to go farther away to someone she doesn't know.  She understands that re-homing him means cutting all ties, but saying you agree to that and actually feeling that way are two different things.  She is very emotionally invested in the situation and the dog would undoubtedly be raised and treated completely different than he is now, which is what he needs, but this would be hard for her to see and understand.  I've offered to take him in two weeks when I am off work for the holidays and if we (my training director and I) have something else lined up, then I can make the transfer of the dog and all my friend has to see is him going to my house for a while where she knows he is safe and cared for.

    Welcome back Deb!

Good thoughts for your friend Lies.

I put on 5 lbs before my first doc's appt so to them I haven't gained much... but little do they know :)  I've been wearing maternity pants since about 7- 8 weeks and some of my shirts are getting short - I'm only 16.5 weeks!  I'd rather gain weight than sit here starving 24/7 though. At least my ability to be in the same room as garlic has been coming back, that would have been torture for the next 5 months.

Dealer #1 called back, they want to try to beat Dealer #2's price.  I guess the Costco program only really got us a lower starting price for negotiations since we're already now below invoice.  I was looking forward to this being simple but the thought of hundreds of dollars cheaper is keeping me playing their games at this point. Either way, we're still buying a car!
