    Finding a reputable behaviorist

    Hi,

I don't post that often but I'm having some behavioral issues with my dog that I can't seem to be able to change on my own, and I think they are getting worse - so I think I need to contact a behaviorist.

I know people have listed them before, but I can't seem to find them - could someone list the websites to help me find a reputable behaviorist in my area (I'm in Seattle)?  The only place I know of offhand is barkbusters but I'm not sure if they are a good idea.

    Thanks so much.

I would search out training programs in universities.  Look for the ones closest to you.  You may be able to find some possible practices via their placement offices or alumni links.  I would ask local vets and check with training classes.  Although that may not be what you need (training classes) dog folk usually know who is available and where.  The APDT list may also offer some options.

Kathy Sdao (Bright Spot Dog Training) is in Tacoma, and she's one of the best.  If you aren't close enough, maybe you could call her for a recommendation in your area.
