When do you worry that he's too attached?

When do you worry that he's too attached?

So Buster will be turning 12 in September and he is mostly deaf (which is a recent occurence).  Lately, I have noticed that he seems to be extra clingy towards me.  My other two dogs follow me around too, but Buster seems to need to be right there with me.  If my fiance and I are watching a movie, he needs to sit next to me on the couch.  If I'm at the computer, he is right there next to me.  Lately, he seems to always be right there, I am never out of his sight (except for right now because I'm writing this [:D]).

Anyway, I don't really mind it, it's just that he is older now and I don't know if this behavior should worry me.  Is he trying to tell me something or is he just loving to be with me?  I am home more often (I'm a teacher so I am home during the summer)...this is new to him since I just finished school in April and started substitute teaching until June...now I'm home everyday.  Could it be him adjusting to that?  I have never had an older dog so I don't know if this type of behavior change is a warning or not.

So, I hope that all made sense, any ideas are appreciated.  Thanks.[:)]

He could be being "clingy" because he can't hear you as well.  He's always been able to know where you are because he could hear you.  Now he has no clue where you are.  Once Lucy lost her hearing she was more clingy.  Jus give him lots of love & understand that he's getting older.

That's kind of what I thought.  I guess he's also confused as to what is happening to him.  It is so sad to watch him losing his hearing.  It's hard for me to adjust too.  When I call him and he doesn't respond, I am reminded of his age and what is happening to him.  He does get lots of hugs and kisses though. [:)]

I may be wrong about his clinginess but it made sense to me.  It's so hard watching your buddy growing old.  Please give him some lovin' from me.  I just adore older dogs.

Does anyone else have any ideas?  Thanks.
