    Thursday Thoughts

Not much here...just thought I'd get the chat going. We're supposed to get a bit of snow later today. I hope everyone in the South is safe from the latest round of storms and tornadoes.

Deb, set me up with a pitcher of whatever STAT.  The 2x4 is optional.

     Caramel Apple Pie Martini

    Directions:

    1. Combine vodka, amaretto, and the 2 schnapps in a cocktail shaker with ice; shake until cold and blended.
    2. Combine cinnamon, sugar, and cracker crumbs on a small plate.
    3. Pour vanilla on another small plate and dip rims of two martini glasses.
    4. Dip wet rims into the sugar mixture.
    5. Pour the cold cocktail mixture into the glasses.
    6. Garnish with an apple slice and a pinch of the leftover sugar mixture.
    7. Alternatively instead of rimming the glasses, you can just mix the sugar and cinnamon together, and add a bit to each glass after pouring the drinks.

I am so beyond belief aggravated this morning.  I need to calm down before I have a stroke.  I think I'll start drinking soon.

15 freakin' degrees this morning.  No snow yet.  Baily is loving the low temps !  Me, not so much.

I am trying to keep all my work frustrations in check.  Decided yesterday that I need to spend a good chunk of every evening alone, in a quiet room reading or knitting or something.  I have to find a way back to my mellow self.

My new Kindle Touch has also shipped !  Excited about that.  I have a great Kindle with the leather lighted case for sale if anyone is interested   Big Smile

    Tina:  OMG !!!!

The Lemon Drop Kid's daughter, Lemon Drop on Top, is running at Aqueduct today.  In the same race is Lemons to Lemonade.  Is that an exacta made in heaven or what ????  You know I'll be at OTB before 4pm because after last night and this morning, the gods have to be smiling on me.

Has anybody ever sold anything on eBay before? I listed a box of baby clothes. It sold on Monday. I just received an email now saying she paid. But I checked PayPal and it says it's an e-check and it won't clear until like Tuesday. Do I wait until it clears to send the box? I don't want to get screwed, but I also don't want to send the box out over a week after it sold. Confused

Yowza!  I think I'll go to the track at lunch.  I had one of those nights, too.

ETA: Janice, I'd personally wait until the e-check clears.

Not a stellar morning here either -- I found a fully embedded tick on Tinkerbell just as I was walking out the door.  Spray alcohol got it to let loose so I got it out head and all but dang ... that's what started Billy's IMHA, and so now the "worry clock" is ticking.  ugh.

Do I wait until it clears to send the box?

absolutely!! I used to sell a bunch of stuff on eBay - echecks are a nightmare. Just let her know that it is boxed and ready and will be shipped upon the check clearing.

OK who thinks my DH needs more sleep?  New washer was delivered about an hour earlier than the stated window - I wasn't home. DH had them install it etc BUT didn't put the new hoses on (sigh). So he was changing the hoses and shouted to me in a panic saying the hot water wouldn't turn off.  I ran upstairs to find he was turning the cold water off Tongue Tied I reached over to the correct doohickey and turned off the hot water. And then wanted to cry because now I had a flooded full laundry room. Crying

    Lovely Karen.

I'm rather PO'd at the friend I work with sometimes.  I worked with her two days on the same job, then she called me last night wanting me to work with her today.  Would pick me up at 8.  OK, fine.  I'm up, dressed and waiting at 5 of.  Started calling her a bit before 9 and she wasn't answering.  Finally calls back around 9:30 all laughing because she COOKING FORGOT ME!!  Ummmm, I've been sitting in the cold garage with the door open so I can see her drive in for an hour and a half and SHE FORGOT ME????  Maybe I'll "forget" next time she needs help.  Angry  Can anyone tell that I'm just a tiny PO'd??  And she still owes me for the 10 hours I already worked with her.  Grrrrrrr.

So yeah, cold and dreary here yet again.  Supposed to get rain mixed with snow.  Yehawww!  Not.

Maybe I should order a couple pitchers of whatever Tina is having.....

Sorry for those who haven't had a good start to their day.  Hugs and drinks all around.

I had a call from my coworker a little while ago.  He and his brother are driving back from a hunting trip in New Mexico.  His truck is acting up and he wanted me to find the closest dealer to his location.  He's out in West Texas which is sparsely populated with miles of nothing everywhere around.  I found a dealer about 60 miles from him but before I could tell him where, the cell phone signal dropped.  Not many towers out in the middle of nowhere.  Why he didn't pull over while he had a signal, I don't know.  He tried two more times but signal dropped before we could communicate.  Finally he called again and I was giving him the name, address and phone number of the nearest dealer.  He said he had nothing to write with.  Surprise   How many women would ever be in that position? lol   He did find the place in his Garmin so they'll find it if the truck can make it that far.  Oh and he said both of them had low batteries on their cell phones and neither had their car chargers with them.  Sheesh.  I guarantee they had every single possible piece of hunting and camping equipment known to man in that truck. lol

    No kidding.

Glenda, instead of waiting outside for so long, use the 10 minute rule.  Then go back inside and stay warm.  If she didn't see you out front, she'd call.

I would also wait until the check clears, although I *thought* paypal/ebay have some sort of guarantee?  I could be making that up, and it wouldn't be the first nor last time.  I totally forget all about ebay for buying things... maybe a good place to shop for maternity clothes.

Baby is a genius already ;)  Got the best score possible on the tri 18 genetic test - 1:99,000 chance of a problem.  LOL.  We did the first tri screening only for the ultrasound, because screenings are not very accurate, but it was good to hear anyway.  Down's chances were something like 1:45,000.  I wouldn't have based much off of a high-risk result anyway since the test is something like only 80% specific with a 20% false positive rate - and it only gives you a risk estimate (ie 1:500) not yes or no.

Callie, good vibes streaming out to Tink that the tick bite turns out to be harmless.  I know how the worry bug can strike.  HUGS for you!

    Tina...drinks AND a 2X4?  That can't be good!

Karen, sorry but I had to chuckle over the hot water story!  Hope the flooding isn't too serious.  I had the same problem last year....soaked EVERYTHING in the laundryroom!  Soak it all up and get the dehumidifier out.

Glenda...that's one of my biggest peeves!  People being late!  hate hate hate it.  It seems to happen all the time to me and it fouls my mood  for the whole day.  Hope the day turned out better than the morning.

I've got nothing planned today.  Was supposed to have tomorrow off but the boss called and asked if I wanted to work tomorrow!  OF COURSE I DO!  I'm a workaholic and if possible would work 24/8.

I'm trying to figure out what to make for supper tonight.  Any ideas?  The only thing that comes to mind is poutine.

Well, hugs and vibes to those in need.
