Moaning on a Monday

My heart is pounding like a mad woman and I am praying I don't get a call before the school day is over.

Lisa -- let her know that this is the BEST time of the year to start school.  YOu get to do "fall" stuff and probably Halloween stuff and then Thanksgiving stuff and then all the Holiday stuff.  Lots of good stuff in the fall to keep her a bit more distracted and "look forward to".

Even the new clothes -- "look what you GET to wear *Just* for school".  I used to get so stoked about the things I got for school (and Mom wouldn't allow me to wear them anywhere else)

Talk to the teacher for a few minutes and see what special things she does, and you'll likely find a couple of things that Riley will think are very cool.  I probably would have gone to Kindergarten (they didn't HAVE pre-school back in cave-man days when I went) JUST to paint at the easel.  I didn't have one of those at home.  You'd have thot I was a budding Rembrandt or something.  All I had at home were fingerpaints LOL

Best of luck to you -- I hope it is an absolute breeze.  Just remember, it is NOT uncommon for children to hate being left.  Given what this teacher does, I'm betting she's a pro at the separation thing so take your cue from her.  Often the tears are more for Mom's benefit than you'd think and they dry up before Mom gets to the parking lot.  Not always -- but it's always a gut-wrenching time for a parent.  You aren't unusual.  It's pretty normal, in fact.

Neither of mine were clingy at all in school. They both just kinda left me at the door. LMBO! I had to go and get them to get my goodbye kiss! They were like "FINALLY...I get to get away from Mom and raise some cain!" LOL!

Setting things up with Cleo today and I am really starting to get palpitations at the cost and just...everything. I wish it was simple like with the hounds.

What are you setting up Gina?

T-minus one hour and she's running around the house with her underwear on her head!

Have a great time Riley!!! Keep breathing and be really confident and sure when you drop her off Lisa that will help her!

Jackie glad your dinner was wonderful - profiteroles (standard cream puff ones) aren't my thing but Deb those savory ones sound wonderful!!!

Just back from the state fair - oh my Indifferent I've been to the NY and the IN state fairs but not NC before today. It is literally a zillion fried food vendors, some crappy looking rides and games and the animals. I enjoyed seeing the animals especially the goats, I <3 goats, but the rest is like any little festival just more of it.  I went with a friend who always enters several recipe contests - today is was using NC apples.  She didn't win Sad  But I did have to tease her that how could she when the 3 winning recipes all used some form of pork (this IS North Carolina!) and she is a kosher vegetarian. I had her laughing hysterically and commenting that next year I would be a better adviser as her style of dress didn't match up to the winners either. Tomorrow she is entering a quiche - I recommended she get one of those pig snout dog chews for on top. Wink

alright I had best get focused - it was a really fun morning and I had a wonderful laugh

Home again.  Errands are run, unemployment applied for, etc.  Since I haven't generated any income in recent weeks, the boss really can't justify keeping the office open for the next couple of months.  Will still check messages and go in "as needed" but can also collect benefits 'til the end of the year.  And, maybe be just a tad bit lazy to boot.  The office is clean, organized, shredding shredded, painting done, table built for the gals to eat lunch (because, don't you know that at Walmart I eat in the executive dining room....the back desk and still in plain sight of the world) windows washed, carpets cleaned, you name it I've done it.  Until he's ready to bring in new folks to train, there really isn't much for me to do.  I'm actually surprised that he kept me this long.

Now, must do more cooking.  Am actually dreading starting yet again, but, will enjoy it once I get going.  I hope.

Anything not denim is dress up in my book.

Tina, in my book denim is *dress up* if you wear a prettier than average shirt and shoes that aren't athletic shoes.

Now that I know what a profiterole is, is it pronounced just the way it looks?  I need to know that in case I ever find it on a menu. And if I ever want to find it on a menu, I guess I'd better start eating at fancier places. Smile I don't think I'll find that at *Black Bear* or *Red Robin.*

When I left the house around 8:40 this morning, weather bug said 61 but the car temperature said 69.  I think the car was right.

Good luck Lisa & Riley! My sister said that she's gotten a bunch of calls home from school. Her oldest started kindergarten this year, and didn't do preschool last year. Mostly it's for talking while the teacher is talking, or not wanting to come in from recess. lol I guess they get three warnings, then they get a call home. The teacher is starting a rewards/sticker chart thing with him to help ease the transition.

Cleo's gonna be cooking up some baby leolets? Yay!

I'm really hoping the kids settle down and sleep soon. They've been playing and singing for about 20 minutes now... Sad

Well, it went great.  We were there for about 3 seconds and then she saw the kids and said "yeah!"  She made a friend in about 1 second and they were hugging and holding hands.  One of the aids said in my ear "I guess she's not here because of anti-social behavior".  LOL

She walked into the classroom with her teacher hung up her backpack and coat turned around and said "bye momma".  I cried a little bit on the way back to the car.  But my overwhelming happiness for her overshadows my sadness that my baby is getting big.

So that was it.  I pick her up in an hour and I can't wait.  I hope everything went well.  DH's big concern is/was if she would have a meltdown in class over something.  I keep telling him that's why she's in a special school.  It also helped that a little boy was having a meltdown when we were there.

I'm uploading some more pics.  But here's one from her walking in for those not on FB

I'll post more in a little bit.

Awesome, Lisa!  We all knew Riley would do well - you and DH have done a great job with her!

    PS: I think I am having a mid-life crisis - I want one of these:  http://editorial.autos.msn.com/blogs/autosblog.aspx?feat=5c3d929a-71f7-4170-b60e-cdc10255c9db&icid=autos_0966
