How many

One dog, this is the first dog I've had since I was a kid.  I'd love to have two but can't see having more than two since we love to spoil.  Hubby wants to stick with one and big time spoil, LOL.

We have 2 dogs right now.  Rocky is 55 lbs and Hot is 125 lbs.  We live in a small old farm house and the boys are part of our family.  They live with us furr and all lol.  We had 3 when the kids were home then we were down to one dog for quite awhile.  Since my hubby is disabled and home most of the time 2 is just right for us.  They get along great, they take care of hubby, the expense is affordable for us.  When we had Shadow, we talked about adding a 2nd dog but opted not to.  We lost Shadow when he was only 4yr old.  We really didnt intend to have 2 dogs but when Rocky was 3 months old we had a breeder ask us to give a loving home to an abused Bernese Mtn Dog.  Since BMD was on our someday wish list we jumped at the opportunity to give an older dog a home.  It has worked very well for us but more than 2 might be too many at our age and situation.  However; I have learned to never say never :)

I currently just have one, but would love to have a second one at some point in time.  My landlord will only allow one dog and so we can't get another until we move.

Though I do have the constant sort of worry/sadness lurking in the back of my mind about Dahlia not being the center of our universe and there being another dog there with her.  She's SO bonded to us.

I think we have too many right now. But 3 are fosters and the 2 puppies that are left are for sale. After those, it leaves 5 that are 'ours'. There is one I am trying to talk the DH into finding another home for. She's trouble. She's an escape artist and might teach the others her tricks. If she ever gets out and gets picked by animal control, there is a fine. We keep her inside for now, but as she is a German 'Shedder', that is going to have to change. Hair everywhere. She keeps jumping on the furniture and I don't allow that. DH has pampered her into thinking she is a lap dog. I just don't like sitting in dog hair. Go to work and find hair on my nice clothes. I pay a fortune in dry cleaning because of it. We are rural and have 2 separate large fenced in areas and large covered kennels for the little ones, so the dog have nice digs. They get tons of exercise as we go on group walks down trails through the woods, or across the fields. There are 4 dog houses in a row inside the fence and each one has a light bulb to supply heat during the winter. On coldest days, they are inside, be it the house or the shop, but we only have about 2 months of real winter. It might snow twice a year if at all.

I currently have 3 and it is working well BECAUSE... my 2 bichons are 12 and 10.  They spend 85% of their time sleeping and lounging.  I really only notice them at meal times.  Lexi won't go on walks anymore, Darby loves her walks still and comes along with dog #3, Echo, a Portuguese Water Dog who is very energetic.  Fortunately she's learned some manners and is quiet about 70% of the time indoors LOL

Lexi and Darby are getting up there, Lexi is on heart meds and Darby is on meds and supps for hip dysplasia :(

Ideally, after L and D pass away, I'd like to have another PWD, and then- that would be it. That's a lot of energy to handle as well as training commitments.

Hopefully I space dogs out a little better this time!  Gobie has been gone more than a year, but having 3 seniors at once has been a $$$ challenge!  Callie absolutely has it right.

ALthough, I see how much Echo loves to play with other dogs, especially other porties, and get the tinge to have another- but.. not quite yet!
