How many

    How many

How many dogs do you have right now?  How many do you think is too many for you?

right now we have 3...and have had as many as five. Five is probably too many. Three is about right BUT two of my three are under 20lbs...the other one is over 100lbs. Two 100lbs dogs will probably feel like a lot more, cost a lot more, and BE a lot more than even 3-4 Toy dogs. It is all relative to the needs of each dog really. For example if one of my dogs were sickly or a senior needing a lot of care...I would probably find 2 dogs PLENTY.

eta: I would never own a single dog because I find the interaction between more than one to be far too entertaining :) I don't always want or need to be the sole focus of my dogs universe so I like them to have another being to seek for play, consolation, or companionship from time to time.

We've got four dogs which is one too many. lol  I've always had multiple dogs.

I am still living with my ex-boyfriend, so I have Marley and he has his dog. When I move back in with my mom in a few months, it will be Marley and Pugsley (my brothers dog). When we move to Michigan, there will be a total of 4 dogs living together. When I finally get a place of my own up there, I am definitely going to get at least ONE more boxer.

I would love to have a small pack of 3-4 dogs. I was thinking maybe 2 boxers and a BT, but would love to see 4 big boxers running around Smile I know several people that have 4 or more and couldnt be happier.

DH and I have two dogs right now. While I enjoy the antics between them, I actually preferred just having one dog. I find things were simpler/easier with just one dog. I'm not ruling out two dogs again in the future for certain, but I can say that we will never have more than two. We have far to many other hobbies and animals we keep to really have time for more than one/two dogs.

I have 3 right now but ideally i would have 2. I have had 5 with fosters and that was impossible to meet all of their needs (training and exercise). I am doing fine with 3 but it is a challenge for a lot of reasons. 3 turns into a pack and gives the dogs a sense of security to charge in to situations they nornally wouldnt. Its hard to fit 3 crates in the car especially if you want to fit other things in there. 3 is def expensive, more training, more flea and tick stuff, more vet bills, more grooming. Its hard to find a dog sitter that wont break the bank. Its hard to take all the dogs to family gatherings and whatnot. Its hard to keep up on individual training. And its really hard to exercise all 3 unless you can take all 3 off leash somewhere (not to a dog park because of the pack thing).

Anymore than 3 dogs and my grass dies and i refuse to pick up that much poop. 1 dog isnt enough because they need doggy companionship imo. So, 2 is my ideal number.

Right now, living in my house is one dog that I own. I also have foster dogs/puppies that come and go.

One dog of my own is a good number for me right now because of the foster dogs I bring home. Rummy is still a puppy so he takes a lot of time and training. Most of my fosters that I care for usually have behavior or helth issues so they also take a lot of my time but the shelter covers their expenses. For my lifestyle, two is a good number to live with. I can give each the attention it needs. Maybe when Rummy is a little older I will consider adding another family member to my home.

I have two other dogs who don't live with me but I buy food for and pay for medical and care expenses, they live with my parents in another state. So cost wise, I own three dogs and that is fine for me, especially since one of them is a Great Pyr.

We have 3 dogs and 1 puppy.

It has its up and down and for me thats the limit.

I think its up to the individual house hold how manys to many ( then again when does it turn into hording ). I personally cant imagine more.

I also have other animals, But my husband helps.

We have four right now.  Ideally I would like to only have two.  Two would be much more manageable cost wise, training wise, and attention wise...  I just have impulse control.  These four are the four I will have until we are down to two.  I'll probably always have 2-3 dogs at a time.  I don't think i ever want only one.  As Gina said, watching two dogs interact is quite entertaining.

I have 3 right now and it's a good fit for me. Granted one of the dogs is 17 and a temporary dog, I will be getting a puppy next summer so this was a good test to see if my house could handle 3. I don't think I'll ever own more then 3 unless the BF gets his companion dog. My guys are working dogs so it's no biggie.

Now if you include cats, I have a total of 6 animals in my house... Plus 6 people.. LOL!

We lost our Thor back in February, so now we "only" have five dogs.  The only time 5 is too many is when DH goes to work super early and I have to do the shepherd shuffle alone.  I suppose, ideally, 2-3, but like others, I can't imagine having just one...kind of like Pringles....once you pop you can't stop!

I have 8 dogs living with me right now.  Seven are mine, the other boy is a foster.  I've had eight dogs in the past, & we did well.  I would happily take on eight dogs again if I knew that I was adding the right dog.  I enjoy the work that having a large pack requires.

We have 6. We can handle six, but four is probably a good number. Because of our enjoyment of pairs, I can't see us ever having less than 4 at a time. I could never have a single dog

I have two dogs. Two fits well with my family and our lifestyle and anymore than that right now would be too many for us :)

Currently I have 5 BUT 3 are Shih Tzus and together they don't weigh as much as my largest (& most recent) dog, Caesar. That's my justification anyway!! I was happy with 4; then I saw Caesars picture & the rest is history, as they say. I haven't had just 1 since my college days.
