I am so annoyed today.  I swear, we have some of the rudest taxpayers.  We have been hounding them, some for months, for info to finish their returns.  Here we are a few days from the deadline and they still haven't gotten it to us.  It puts us in such a bad position bc we have others that we just can't get done any earlier because of tax forms they don't get until last month and there are so many of them and such big returns, they are always the last few we have.  These inconsiderate ones are easy ones that should be done...and now we have to waste valuable time printing and dealing with them.  OK, rant over!

Steph, that sucks about the IRS letter but I am glad that it may not be as bad as you originally thought.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!  I am hoping to have a family outing to a local farm here that has a pumpkin patch and lots of other fun stuff!

I guess you and DH won't be going out for date night tonight? lol  He's got a date with his new love, I mean phone. lol

Oh please it hasn't arrived yet and he is as keyed up as Bugsy waiting for a car ride.............well without the spinning

He announced yesterday that we would not be going to the oyster bar this evening if it hadn't arrived in time, whatever hahahaha

Stephanie I had to stop in Walmart and that bag of crunchy cheetos called out to me and oh it was worth it LOL

Sarah sorry you are having a bad day :(  But I bet when you get home to your gorgeous kids it will all be alright!

Johnny, that video is hilarious!  Thanks for the huge laugh.  You know I'll be requesting those idog vibes when it's time for surgery and I know better than most how well they work.

Sarah, it's too bad you can't charge an aggravation fee to the procrastinators.  I'd be tempted to tell them, tough luck about your return but we couldn't get it done due to your foot dragging nonsense.  I'm sorry it's causing you so much stress and trouble.  Here's the 2 x 4 if you think that will help. :)

Called his office line when I got back to work.  His main concern was why he didn't get my call and I had to give him a light virtual slap to get him to listen to my surgery info.

Oh man, do I understand how that feels! I'm glad you've set a date for the surgery Jackie. I'm sure I'm going to need it in the next few years and you can cheer me on then.

My great Friday has gone down the toilet. I got back from the gym and DH had left me a msg. Get this. He's supposed to take the engineer's exam next Friday. It's only given every 2 yrs and you have to have 5 yrs on with the city to even test. This will be the 1st time DH was eligible and it's been his dream since he joined the dept. He's studied daily for many months now, taken classes. etc. It's only open to city employees and he did the application online weeks ago. I even looked it over for him. He'd been asking at work if he should've heard something and everyone told him not to worry. One Capt even said he thought he'd seen DH's name on the list. Well, the last couple days it's been bugging DH, so he called to check. Guess what? His application was rejected because he didn't mark a box that said "yes" to "are you a city employee?". When DH asked why he hadn't been notified, the guy said there'd been a glitch in the system and forwarded the email he should've gotten weeks ago. So, there's an appeals process but fat chance that could be done by next Friday. DH is beside himself and when he gets like this, he's not very receptive to suggestions. I told him to call his union rep, he said "I don't know who it is" Really? Isn't now a good time to find out? I said I'd tell everyone you talk to that you will be showing up on Friday to take the test and they can figure out what went wrong later but you're not missing it. He said "they won't let me". He might be right but we are so different in how we react to this kind of stuff. I'm more the *gone postal* type and he's more the *bridge jumper* type. Yeesh-I could really use one of Deb's drinks right now Super Angry

I'm with you Cathy.  No way would I accept this as final.  I hope you can get him to talk to some people and get this stupid glitch fixed so he can take the exam.

    • Gold Top Dog
wow Cathy that BLOWS! I would SO be calling EVERYBODY if I were your hubs...I hope he can get it all sorted!

I'd head for the Tiki bar, but I'm dragging errr, hiney, so bad that I'm getting floor burns on it.  Now to put away all the crap I needed to pick up today.

I am really just annoyed.  The only reason it stresses me at all is because my boss bends over backwards to get it done for them even though they are like this.  We usually charge these type of people a higher rate, but the few this year are all people I know she won't do that to.  She works till 1 AM many nights to try to get it all done.  Granted, she does tons of personal stuff during the day when we are all working on taxes, but she's the boss so it makes no difference to me.  I just know how hard it is for her to finish this stuff when we aren't hovering over her to keep her on task.  I personally hate the job of hand holding and so does the guy who has to do most of it now, but it's the only way my boss gets it done.  I don't feel too bad,  I have put my time in for at least 8 years before he started doing it.

Cathy, I hate that for your husband.  I am of the same opinion you are, he needs to tell anyone that will listen that he is going to take the test, and if they reject it later, fine, but this was their screw up, not his that he wasn't notified.  Do you have a copy of the form?  Did he in fact not check that box?  I have found out from my own personal experience that if you make a big enough stink and talk to the right people, things can get done pretty fast, even in an environment where it doesn't seem that it could.  And yes, he needs to call his Union Rep who can give him more names to contact and maybe make some calls for him.  Years ago, I had to contact my husband's union rep on his behalf for something and he was more than helpful in telling me who to call and what his rights where and what to expect and how to handle it all.  I hope it doesn't ruin your entire weekend.  :(

Jackie, I am totally laughing about your husband.  What a typical man.  :)  Mine is totally obsessed with his phone too and takes it to the bathroom with him to "read" even.  I am getting him a Kindle Fire just so he will have something a little bigger and easier on the eyes.  lol!

Mmmmmm, I could totally use some crunchy cheetos right now...and I can hardly wait to have a margarita later!

Our youngest employee just gave his notice. Crying  He's been here for four years.  We hired him with no experience and trained him. Pretty typical in our trade. He's going to work for a school district and I'm sure they can offer much better benefits than our small company. I am happy for him personally but sad to see him leave our little work family.  Hiring someone new is going to be a challenge and I dread it.

Do you have a copy of the form?

Unfortunately we don't. It was an online app and he did it on the laptop but didn't print it out. I wish we had but I'm betting the city is correct in that there was probably some box somewhere on the form that wasn't checked. Now, the rest of the application would've listed his current employer, of that I'm sure, so I'm betting their system has a filter and if said box isn't checked, the application is rejected. Had he gotten that rejection notification right away, this would've been cleared up by now. It's just such BS and I'm so frustrated for him. Fortunately, he works this weekend. I say fortunately not just because he's going to be unbearable to live with but because I'm 100% sure the folks at work will be better able to point him in the right direction.

OOOH SNAP! props to Costco.com AND Citi for catching a fraudulent charge on our card! $700 computer shipping to LOUSIANA! Yeah...right. Anyhow it was stopped by the guy at Costco who called me to verify the charge....and then I called the bank to cancel it. No harm done looks like given the charges behind it are all legit. *whew*!! Given how much we use it, I am surprised it hasn't happened more often!

eta" Cathy even the most BASIC sumbit form online has that whole "Ooops! you forgot to fill in a field" thing. I am suprised this one didn't! If it doesn't maybe they need to talk to their computer people, not your husband!
