Need your prayers for Skipper

Skipper, the 6 month old Tzu has to go in for surgery in the morning on his left eye. The pupil has separated from the rest of his eye and as to be tucked back in. The vet has done about half a dozen of these with a great sucess rate.
And they will also cortirize the eyelashes that are growing inward which have been causing him eye infections of late. Endless battle.
The dogtor said the eye itself will be flat for about 3 to 4 months before an eye patch can come off of him and hopefully it will heal and mend correctly, otherwise he will be blind in that eye or may have to have it removed.
I am a nervous wreck and sitting on pins and needles over this, so I thought you guys could send calming vibes my way and healing vibes for Skipper doodle.

Just out of curiosity are you going up to Gainesville to have it done or someone near you? Will be thinking and praying about Skipper (and you) in the morning -- is it a long drive for you? (knowing that's a problem for you).

To answer your question Callie, my veterinarian is doing the surgery. He has done this type of surgery several times and is very maticulous over what he does and how he does it or I would be searching else where for someone to do this type of surgery.

Skipper is hanging in there. I keep putting numbing drops in his eyes to ease the pain of it all as well as cold compress's too. His eyes are swollen and go from norm to swollen in less than two minutes.

I think I will give him a waterless bath tonight as he isn't feeling that well and don't want to get him cold.

My heart breaks for this little guy.

Thanks for the support guys. I will be sleepless again tonight soothing my little one instead.

That's GREAT that your vet has this sort of experience -- it's awesome when someone we trust has exactly the experience we need.

You and I have GOTTA meet for a picnic or something later this year after it cools off. David and I would be glad to come up there - it would just be a fun day 'out'.

I'll be thinking of Skipper all day tomorrow. and you too!

Poor little Skipper! Get lots of comforting hugs tonight and soon you'll be under the care of someone who will make things feel better. I'd have a sleepness night, too, Angel. I think it's worse to be facing a pet's surgery than one's own surgery, because you can't explain to the pet why he's hurting and how he's going to have something done to help him get better.

Extra hugs for both of you, and sending good thoughts your way. Send an update when you can.
