LOL that is what I was telling myself while I waited but I am sure rocked again

Karen -- well now you have the perfect threat for DH -- "I am gonna staple **your** butt!!" -- I mean, I know they use staples all the time but the words "staple" and "butt" -- just kinda makes you cringe, ya know??

This is where I always say I "learn" so much from my dog.  I mean, here is the world freaking out -- and Bugsy is cruizing thru the living room, squeaking the tar out of ... what WAS that ... a fuzzy Wubba Wabbit ... er Rabbit?? squeak squeakkkkkkkkkkk squweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek.

the dog has his priorities right Karen -- when life hands you lemons ... ahhh, just go get a squeaky toy and make IT cry ... LOTS.

Hang in there, Karen ((((hugs)))). Sending lots of good thoughts your way. Bugsy, you area a riot! Good your suture area isn't infected.

Just got back from a swim--the water is perfect (not warm but not freezing either). Stay safe everyone--it is soo nasty with the heat index here. I keep checking on my folks--no one here has AC, so it's close the blinds, run fans and just take it easy. Ugh! The humidity is what's the nightmare today--just oppressive. We do have a bit of a breeze right now, so that's a good thing! And, the fine folks in our town office thought today would be the right day to deliver tax bills. Thank you so much.

Hugs for all who need them. I wore pink again today for Hannah's family. My heart just breaks for them. I hope they are able to find a rehab facility they feel really good about for the little guy.

    Ditto! lol.

I sure hope that all the ills and icks going on today get better for everyone.  DH and I are going to be starting our move into our rental house tonight. I am both nervous and excited!

On another note, my vacation really refreshed me and I'm trying to have a more positive attitude these days and it apparently shows. DH commented on it last night while at the park so I must be doing a good job. It's not always easy, that's for sure.

Second followup with the nuerosurgeon was basically, there is nothing we can do. Bone scan came back normal and she thinks my pain is from the one dessicated disk that isn't doing it's share of the work. And that some sensory type things (real technical there eh?) along the edge of the disk and bone are what is causing me so much pain in the middle of my back. The good news is that it seems to keep getting a tiny bit better and I'm just about to where I was pre-"hike that killed me".  So good news.  And now I'm going to screw myself badly by moving a 10' by 20' storage unit tonight and tomorrow.  I *am* looking forward to putting stuff away and decorating the new space.  I  might see if Tracy (tacran) wants to hang out a bit on Sunday and keep me company. :)

Thank you and I am doing the same. I saw the news video of the funeral service and some pictures from yesterday and my BFF is in both of them. That gave me a huge smile but made me realize how much I miss her.

I have a much needed hair appt at noon. Fortunately, I've managed to get mostly caught up, so being gone a couple hours won't matter. I wish I could just go home afterwards though.

*grin* that's why I didn't say he *took* them -- he just cruized off in the other direction with his toy!!  Lemons just aren't very interesting you know??

Man -- most of you don't follow the IMHA stuff but dang ... it's "that" time of year again (there are about 3 times of the year it's super active but I'm convinced the heat is making it worse).  And on another topic - just thinking of all the dogs left outside just at the mercy of the heat just breaks my heart.

Callie, I was thinking about the IMHA spike just this morning, knowing it was that time of year again. Sigh. Extra hugs for all the IMHA dogs and their families. I do miss my Frisby so much--we're coming up on a year since she died. But, a bit later we're coming up on Sinbad's gotcha day 1st anniversary (not til late Sept., but I like to plan ahead :-), so there's a silver lining.

It is soooooo hot and humid today. Might need another swim. Or two :-)

Just got an email from the local SPCA -- they need dogfood for their "Seniors on Wheels" program to help provide seniors with food for their 4-footed friends.

I'm thinking of how freaking hot it is here and so many seniors actually try to live without air-conditioning to save money and even using fans drives up electricity this time of year.  *sigh*  So I emailed David to see if we can make a run down to the SPCA tomorrow.  Our local SPCA really does try to be *very* good.

Excellent reminder, Callie! Our Meals on Wheels program up also helps provide/deliver food for seniors' pets in addition to delivering meals for the seniors. (Learned this at a recent presentation at our Food Bank.) The program is called We All Love Our Pets and it looks like it's a national program with Meals on Wheels. Thank goodness someone finally gets that pets are in need, too, and that those very pets are often what keep the seniors going! Found this link about RI's participation:

I made a thread cos I haven't a clue -- I haven't fed kibble at all in about 11 years or more so I have not even one clue what's even half-decent any more.

Current temp 102, heat index 110. Earlier when I was driving around, over closer by Cita's way, the heat index was 118. Just plain yuck. Luke has class tonight, and that place gets hot. It only has window units that I know of. Not looking forward to it.

I just LOVE the title of today's chat!!!  So appropriate...good thinking!

I went on a road trip with a neighbor this morning.  She had been wanting to learn how to get to IKEA without going on the freeway so I took her, not knowing that that particular road (which is doG's plenty long enough under the best of conditions) is closed for repair with traffic diverted. The detour was a long, lovely scenic trail through fields, under freeway overpasses and across the river. It always surprises me how many people don't know that you can get from Davis to Sacramento and back - without going on the freeway. Big Smile

Callie, if you have (or know someone who does have) a Costco membership, their own brand of dog food (Kirkland) is pretty decent and really reasonable for a pretty big bag.

The news  report on the weather earlier said that something like 34 people have died in this heat wave.  Maybe fall will come early.  We can only hope.
