funny but then again not so funny - I imagine if Bugsy were close he'd be first in line

That was my first and only belly laugh of the day.  I won't take it seriously!

I just got THE nicest surprise!  An online friend from way in western Canada (from my other little board - have known her online for like 10 years but she's actually been down here cruising and David and I have met her a couple of times) surprised me with a gift basket of goodies!!  (early birthday)

What an absolutely WONDERFUL surprise!!  She knows how hot it is here so it's all stuff like peanut crunch, dips, cookies, etc.  Perfect surprise!!

That was my first thought as well, when I read it I giggled.

Old rockers never die.  They buy tickets to see Peter Frampton and are contemplating tickets to see Dylan with Leon Russell opening.   lol

Barb and Ginger, I'm shocked.  Not.  Big Smile

Yay, for the a/c getting installed, Karen.

I'm surprised Deb missed that when she posted.  It must be the heat.  Or the vodka soaked melon pieces.

Another hot one here been keeping inside with the AC on full blast only go out in the afternoon for ball time for Jazz. Going to straighten up the place, get my grocery list ready for tomorrow, and do some training with Jazz.

Karen - YAAAAY for AC!   I really, really hope you sleep better tonight.  Give Bugsy some extra snuggles from me.

Melinda, I'm diggin' your new siggie!  I need to get a new siggie...

    Meanwhile,

My new obession:  freeze chunks of honeydew melon.  When frozen, throw them into a nice tall glass.  Fill glass 3/4 of the way with Vodka.  Top off with diet lemon-lime soda.  Drink with a straw.  When all the liquid is gone, eat the vodka infused melon.  Repeat as needed.

I don't even like melon, but that sounds DELISH!

When we step outside of the office building, it's like stepping into a sauna.  Quite an odd experience - still not as bad as Louisiana was.. and certainly not as bad as Iraq/Afghanistan... a friend posted because she was about to complain about the heat until she read this on another friend's page.  I'll share it here:

"1.) It isn't 109 degrees; 2.) I'm not 5,700 miles from home; 3.) I'm not dressed in a full BDU uniform and helmet and carrying 70+ lbs.; and 4.) There is very little chance that anyone will shoot at me or that I might drive over a bomb in the road today! Thanks to all who serve !!!"

Ugh.  I hear you guys on heat and humidity.  I was downstairs painting -- yes, still painting in the basement -- and noticed wet spots on the drop ceiling DH just installed last weekend :(  It's so incredibly humid that the vents were dripping.

The AC had kicked on and run over 3 hours straight from the time we got home (any probably before) and it was still only 79 inside.  I turned it up a little to give it a little break for a bit but I might just have to keep it closer to 78-80 the next few days.  Apparently 76 is too much for it, sigh.

So true and it's always important to keep things in perspective. I have very little to complain about compared to so many people. We watched the national news and they had a story about the famine in the horn of Africa. Now that is heartbreaking.

We got  back from IL yesterday. The dogs are happy to be home (4 were  boarded, two had a petsitter here) and so are we. We'd forgotten about humidity..horrors!  Poor Clive spent the week sweating and even had to drink water (he'd get full of formula, but was still sweaty enough that he needed extra fluids) The family member whose house we stayed at did have central air, but it wasn't working as great as I thought it should...at one point the thermostat read 84 insideIndifferent So, the poor kid was sweaty inside as well.

On the upside, he slept for most of the plane ride both ways.
