I was using the computer this afternoon when I heard the loudest, wildest barking coming from outside. It was SO loud that I thought it was coming from another part of town or that a dog fight erupted. I looked out the window and saw Mika out on the street. Mika NEVER barks, so I flew downstairs like a maniac to see what was wrong.
Turns out that the neighbor's Rottie got loose and ran into the street, right up to Mika. My housekeeper (who brought Mika out early for her walk) is a dog lover but is afraid of large, confident dogs, so she pulled Mika away. I guess Mika sensed my housekeeper's fear, and that's what caused the frenzied barking. I opened the door to the house, and poor Mika bolted right in. We waited a few minutes before we could walk her.
I learned that the poor Rottie NEVER gets walked and stays in his cage 24/7. [

] He is "too strong" for my neighbors, which is a pity because he seems very smart and friendly. They had accidentally left his cage unlocked, so he seized the chance to jump out and socialize with the other dogs outside.
