i used to watch a lot of foreign films, but the wife doesnt like to read subtitles so i dont watch them so much any more. most good foreign films, you dont necessarily need to read the subtitles as you can pick up on what is happening just by the actor's reactions and inflection in their voice. at least this is true of the dramas. not much is happening other than the characters interaction with each other.

then of course their are films like "un chien andalou" by salvador dali and luis bunuel, where almost everything is visual and speech really means nothing.

The type of movie I like is Horror, Not the horror gory movie (with bloods and stuff), but the one where you jump off your seat.

Me too!!! as of matter of fact my friends thinks I am a snob about it, but not so, just mainstream movies don't always hold my interest.  Although I did like Spiderman I and II and I am looking forward to III.

One of my favorite movies by Almodovar is Talk to Her, I went to see it by myself 5 times, and have the dvd and watch it all the time.

I also love Korean, Chinese and Japanses movies.  I love the cinematography and how well developed the subcharacters and substories are, I swear I sometimes feel like I speak the language, the movies are so beautiful I don't even read the subtitles ( sometimes) to get it.  Some of my favorites are:  In the Mood for Love, Shall We Dance (the original version which is Japanese) Farewell My Concumbie, Raise the Red Lantern, Old Boy, Tampopo, Happy Times, Spring Summer Fall Winter, Blind Samurai, Hero, just to name a few.

I'd have to say that my favorite movies are about dogs, or horses. I also like some of the family movies, with good stories....and some action/adventure movies, but nothing too violent or anything like that. Some of my favorite of those kind are Pirates of the Caribbean ( 2 is coming out on Friday!![:D]) and Lord of the Rings, I also like Miss Congeniality. And Hidalgo...those are about as 'scary' as I get. [;)] Eight Below is one of my new favorites too.

I'd have to say my favorite movie is Hildago.  I don't usually like horse movies, specifacally Black Beauty, but Hildago was heart warming.  Plus, as a mustang, Hildago was the mutt of horses and I just love mutts.  Not doodles, just mutts.

I like anything that brings out a strong emotion in me.  Horror of the thriller type.  Nothing like Saw where I spend most of my time choking back regurgitated popcorn.  The ones that make you anticipate what is coming next.  I like movies that make me ball my eyes out, like The Notebook and The War.  And movies that have my stomach doing somersaults all the way through.  And movies that leave you with an expectancy at the end.  But only when you know they are making a sequal, like Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter.  I like these last ones because they are so well done to match the books too.
