Finally frivolous Friday!!

Good thoughts to Leslie, and to Sarah for speed and smoothness!

I'm meeting with my school's career counseling office soon. BF really wants me to talk to them to get ideas about what a dual-academic career search would look like. He's really pushing for me to find out more info soon, even though we won't be on the job market for at least 3 more years. Eeep. I'm thinking there might be a big question in our near future...??

Good thots to Leslie *and* to Sarah's delivery.

Cita -- i'm not quite sure WHAT to think good about for you?? *smile*

Karen -- last night I was going thru a back neighborhood on my way to the dr. and there by the side of the road was a Bugsy look-alike.  About the same size, but not nearly as well cared for -- a bit smaller white patch.  Not leashed -- just killing time snoozing at the edge of the property.  I rolled down my window (and this works a *LOT* down here for some reason) and I said "Hey ... you need to go HOME and get in the house.  Dogcatcher is gonna find you! Go HOME!"

He looked at me like I was insane as much as to say "You stupid HOOMAN ... this **IS** home, and it's NOT yours!"

I laughed and said "Well, ok -- but you DO look like Bugsy -- you look a LOT like Bugsy!"

I got this look that said "Must be a handsome dog then huh, lady?"

I think he figgered he was big enough to do whatever the heck HE wanted to.  He *looked* like Bugsy, but I don't think this dog knows what "zoom" means.

Luna was with me -- and trust me, she *knows* Bugsy's name.  If it was Bugsy she wanted to go play ...

"Hope the new med works" vibes coming for Leslie and "smooth delivery" vibes coming for Sarah.  I'll second what Jan said about the c-sections.  They're really not all that bad, especially if they know ahead of time they're going to do it and you don't spend 24 hrs. in labor first.

I hope this glorious weather holds for a good long while before the next heat wave hits, and when it does, I hope it's as short as the last one. We're all going out for pizza tonight for DGS's 18th. birthday.  Where does the time go? There should be nine of us plus a 9 mo. old, so it should be a rollicking fun time.

Sarah - I'm super excited for you and will be praying that you have a smooth delivery. I can't wait to see pictures of your new little man.

I agree about the gorgeous weather we're having and it looks like it'll continue thru next week. Those 2 days of 100+ temps really made me appreciate high 80s.

I just got home from Grace and as always, had a wonderful time. I mainly go out there to spend time with the horses but everytime I leave, I've made a new friend. Very cool!

I was/am ticked at my SIL & BIL though. They made the big deal about wanting to meet me out at there at 9. I even worried that I'd be late, so I got there early and hung around waiting for them and then went on with helping with the horses. Another woman and I were out in a pasture working with my sponsor horse, Jessie and Bullseye and I hear my SIL yell for me. It was after 10 and she said they slept in. I took them for a tour of the ranch and then said I needed to get back to work. She kept trying to talk me in to meeting them afterwards for lunch but since I knew I'd be filthy and I also didn't trust that they'd be on time, I gave a stern "no thanks". From now on, my time out there isn't open to visitations or tours Stick out tongue

Sassy is in major shed mode and there isn't a speck of space that doesn't have dog hair on it. Time for me to get busy with some cleaning but I really want to take a nap Sleep

Have fun tonight, Joyce!  Hope your weather stays nice.

Paige, congrats to you and Gracie.  Good job, considering the horse distractions were so close to you.

Almost time to go home and I can't wait to get out of here.  The days fly by because we're so busy but by Friday afternoons, I feel tired and stressed enough to cry.  Please pass the cheese and crackers. lol

Stopping in for a quick rant.

Most of my clients have about 2 weeks off from school, then go back in for a few weeks in the summer. For one of my clients, we use this time to make up hours cancelled earlier in the year (we have January-June, then we go back and ask for more, and do the same thing in December). He needs to be kept busy pretty much or he sits around doing nothing, and I love him, but being a nuisance and getting into trouble (nothing too bad, mostly knocking stuff over). So anyway, his dad asked me first what hours I could take during the weeks. I basically took 3 hours mid day every weekday. Apparently, one of the other people complained, as she was cancelling more hours, that I took all the time. Ummm... I took 3 hours a day, and her regular time is after school. Nothing I did conflicted with her regularly scheduled hours. I also left mine somewhat flexible, and said I could move mine earlier. But, the biggest kicker, is that this person who complained has cancelled about half her hours, if not more, this month, including twice this week. I think she had some sort of surgery, but I don't really know. Honestly, if your surgery was going to keep you from showing up regularly for  a month or more, you should have taken a leave. Technically, since we are contractors, we don't have to be allowed this, but in general, the person running the company does her best to accommodate someone who may need this during tough times. Just the same, we have a team of 3 people working here, and in the past, when someone has needed it, we have come together to cover their hours. Except for her. She took someone's hours and didn't give them all back. The other two of us, if we cover someone's time, we give back those hours. Can you tell this girl pisses me off?

Speedy delivery vibes for Sarah, and good luck Leslie.

Cathy, I think you handled your in laws well.  Shame they couldn't just visit and see what a special place Grace is.  It's really their loss. I love how much you're enjoying the time you spend there.  You've got a heart of gold.

The hot, tired and not happy sounding DH is on his way home.  Oh joy.

    Good luck Sarah.

Mom had her knee replacement surgery today and it went stellar and boy was her doc a hottie.  Whoo Hoo.  She should be coming home on Monday which is completely shocking to me, but that's the normal timing.

Gloomy around here today that's for sure.  Its supposed to be nice Sat and Sun so here's hoping to that.

Hope everyone has a great weekend and Karen, I love the name Dogzilla!

Good luck with the delivery sarah! Keep us up to date on how youre feeling this weekend and up till tues!

    Its cold here today!

I almost made it thru the day w/o pain killers! This is an improvement. However, the pain plus having to deal with brilliant phone help desk people made the day very difficult and my brain is now mush. Tgif.

What is it with all this shedding???  Max has longish hairs in two places - his upper back legs near his butt and around his neck and shoulders and I can literally remove huge chunks of hair.  There's so much hair right now around each of the dining room table legs it looks like there's a litter of pups under there ... and it really shows on the oak floors ... much more so than on the carpet. Tongue Tied

Callie I sure hope the look a like has a home :) Luna I am sure Bugsy would love to play with you.

Cathy you handled your 'visitors' better than I would have.

I love the dogzilla moniker, I mean seriously at times the 60lb lab was lost behind him. I forget how big he is at times lol

just been out trying to save some plants by watering and noticed that the deer have nearly completely eaten one of the hibiscus

Lisa, so sorry that I forgot to TELL you I was sending good vibes!  When Mom was in the hospital and it got closer to Christmas, her main Doc just quit showing up...the hospital doc was drop dead gorgeous!!  And a really nice man.  I'd get Mom giggling everytime I'd mention him, she'd ask which one he was, I'd say "the cute one" and she'd giggle up a storm!  There is a good deal to be said for humor in healing....

Congrats to Paige and Gracie.  Great job.

My make shift tomato cages work even better than the premade ones!  Score!

My parents are coming over tomorrow. My dad is gonna hang some curtains for me, yeah and my mom is just visiting. I just cleaned the crap outta this place. Oh, my aching back! The curtain hanging should be comical with Lemon Boy, curious doesn't begin to describe him.
