Stopping in for a quick rant.
Most of my clients have about 2 weeks off from school, then go back in for a few weeks in the summer. For one of my clients, we use this time to make up hours cancelled earlier in the year (we have January-June, then we go back and ask for more, and do the same thing in December). He needs to be kept busy pretty much or he sits around doing nothing, and I love him, but being a nuisance and getting into trouble (nothing too bad, mostly knocking stuff over). So anyway, his dad asked me first what hours I could take during the weeks. I basically took 3 hours mid day every weekday. Apparently, one of the other people complained, as she was cancelling more hours, that I took all the time. Ummm... I took 3 hours a day, and her regular time is after school. Nothing I did conflicted with her regularly scheduled hours. I also left mine somewhat flexible, and said I could move mine earlier. But, the biggest kicker, is that this person who complained has cancelled about half her hours, if not more, this month, including twice this week. I think she had some sort of surgery, but I don't really know. Honestly, if your surgery was going to keep you from showing up regularly for a month or more, you should have taken a leave. Technically, since we are contractors, we don't have to be allowed this, but in general, the person running the company does her best to accommodate someone who may need this during tough times. Just the same, we have a team of 3 people working here, and in the past, when someone has needed it, we have come together to cover their hours. Except for her. She took someone's hours and didn't give them all back. The other two of us, if we cover someone's time, we give back those hours. Can you tell this girl pisses me off?
Speedy delivery vibes for Sarah, and good luck Leslie.
