Johnny, grats on the new possibility - will keep my fingers tightly crossed for you!!!!

I checked out "chimney starter" on wikipedia, and I gotta say, looks pretty nifty. I think we may have found a father's day present for BF's dad. Thanks, Jackie!

Im excited for your yellowstone trip and jealous too!

Good luck with getting the new job!

Because im a stupid dog mom, i was outside last night at 11pm hosing 3 dogs off and trying to blow dry them while they fought with each other over who got to stand in the air stream of the doggy dryer. Im sure my neighbors loved me. The dogs still reak too.

    Another gorgeous weather day here.

I think i got out of my old job just in time. Some bad news hit them and today a few people were venting to me asking if we were hiring at my new place. I think the pain is only beginning for them too unfortunately.

Johnny - good luck on getting the new, full-time job. As for Tessy...(((Hugs))) and I know how you feel and have been in the same place.

We have both a Weber charcoal and gas grill and use the chimney starter for the charcoal grilling. It does work great and you don't get that lingering taste of charcoal starter - blech.

It's supposed to be 93 today - woohoo!! On days like this, our morning's are absolutely gorgeous and still coolish. It makes it hard to come to work though.

We have a big graduation downtown tomorrow and normally I wouldn't go but I think the governor might speak at this one. Since this governor actually started the Calif Conservation Corps, it might be interesting to hear what he has to say.

GOOD NEWS IS...although I didn't get the previous job I was hoping for due reasons that severely PISS ME OFF, I think I just may have found another full time job!!!

John - that is awesome - that's been my mantra for you for months.

    Johnny&Tessy
BAD NEWS is that Tessy won't be able to get her next round of chemo treatments!  (due thursday)  Sad

You've got the herbs, and you'll do it when you can.

Good thoughts and hugs going out to Amanda and Boo

I sat and bawled last night about that -- I don't know what it is about old boxers but he's just plain my favorite of her dogs.  I like his spunk.

    EASIER QUESTION --

Anyone want to share somethng stupid they did for a parent for either Father's Day (Sun) or Mother's Day?

I just shipped my Pa 3 POUNDS of mincemeat.  My mother has a cookie recipe that is Pa's favorite.  She can't get the Nonesuch packages and I found a bunch on sale.  Now there's a card and some other junk, but howszat fur a mystery package? LOL  Knowing Pa, he'll be thrilled!!  I also sent him some Walker's ginger cookies so he'll be a happy boy.

For those of us who don't do FB, what is up with Brutus?

Courtney, thank you for the cheery morning report!

    • Gold Top Dog

Not dreary here either.  Its a really nice day and I have no motivation to actually work.

Johnny lots of good vibes for the job to be yours :)

Those on FB have probably already seen my griping, but since I'm still annoyed I'll share it here too.  I started going back to school @ University of Phoenix.  One of their requirements is that every class has team assignments.  I'm only in the 2nd class so far, but I can see this is going to be an area of constant stress and frustration.  The latest issue was that our assignment was due last night at midnight, MST.  One of the guys in the group didn't post his portion until 11:55 MST.  Now how the heck was anyone supposed to have time to add what he submitted to the rest of our outline and get it completely turned in on time?  Plus, what if he needed to make any changes?  We had an agreement at the beginning of class that everything would be submitted to the team 24hrs before the due date, to allow for such things.  But apparently that was just fluff since I'm the only one who actually did.  Group assignments suck Angry   /rant

Ok, well enough of that.  Hope everyone has a good day!!

    Cancer!

This is Amanda's post on FB

"Brutus has cancer. He has a large tumor involving his liver & spleen. He has another, smaller mass on his lung. Due to the size of the mass, we have opted not to pursue further diagnostics or treatment. For now, he's still my happy, kidney bean dancing, nub wagging fool. From here on out, every day will be "Boo Day."   "

The boy is pooped after a nice long walk...I'm off to run errands.

Good vibes Johnny all around....job and Tessy !

Callie, I bet your dad will love it.

For stupid father's day things... I was bad this year and didn't get my step-monster anything for mother's day. In my defense, she was traveling at the time and out of the country. I still should have sent a card. I was feeling guilty, so sent a nice big cheese assortment with a card saying that because of their busy travel schedule, this is a mother's day and father's day present that I want them to be able to share together. We'll see if she thinks that is nice, or if it backfires and she gets witchy about it.

My next door neighbor asked me to cat-sit him for a whole month, since he is going off to visit family in Italy. I said yes, because I am too nice, even though he didn't mention anything about payment. He called to let me know he arrived at the airport safely, and said, "Help yourself to anything in the fridge - there's a half a bottle of wine in there. Feel free to drink the wine. Well, that one - don't drink anything that's not open yet." Sigh. I know he didn't have bad intentions, and I don't drink wine anyway, but really? Stingy much!

Why doesn't Amanda spend much time on these forums anymore?

Good thoughts to everyone. Karen, hope those foxes are okay - I have a soft spot for foxes, especially red ones. Maybe because they look like dogs I've owned :-p Hate to see them end up badly, especially due to human stupidity.

Quick gripe. This morning a guy calls to make an appointment to measure the bathroom for tile. We agree he will come at 1, at 1:30 I call and say, well? "I'm on my way will be there in 15-20" I have clients this afternoon so yes it is a problem. Oddly I thought 1 meant 1.

Courtney my worry is that someone will call in a removal co or just shoot them if they become a nuisance. If the idiots hadn't fed them they would have kept to themselves like they were doing. But not taking cover when B was in full predator mode is not a good sign. His intentions move wildlife on their way pretty swiftly.

    • Gold Top Dog
Or the cry of "rabies" because the wild animals are "acting weird." Sure, they are, but only because they've been accustomed to thoughtless idiots feeding them and removing their natural/healthy fear of humans...

Hope your late loser shows up, Karen :-p stuff like that drives me nuts!

    • Gold Top Dog

Courtney, hand that bottle of wine to Karen or Steph.  Whoever doesn't get the booze might need the 2x4.

Mindy, thanks for posting that info about Brutus.  Will keep them in my thoughts.

so he calls at 1:52 (not that I noticed) saying 'he punched in the wrong address' and he's at that house. Great. He is now due to arrive at 5, this time I made sure he knew that when I said 5 I meant 5 not any time between 5 and 6. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

(I went back and put paragraphs in previous post - iPad doesn't put them in)

I'm really bothered by the fox thing - I thought it was wonderful that our neighborhood is such that wildlife can coexist - now I'd like to strangle the lame brained idiots that are feeding them.  Courtney I was told by wildlife commission that if they were rabid they would have attacked us and posted the info they gave me on the yahoo board. Our neighborhood has a lot of natural areas and with it bordering a huge lake, a large wildlife preserve and significant wide open farmland we do have plenty of wildlife...............and plenty of people that think nothing of shooting a pest. sad all the way around because I can see someone with children playing in their yard a bit concerned about foxes that are too close and unaffected by humans. Sad

Karen, I'd be leery of doing business with this person based on this alone.  If a person can't make an appointment, that is set up in advance and then gives such a lame excuse (wrong address my a$$) as to why he is so late, you can probably count on the entire job being a not so good experience.

The fox situation would have me fighting mad too.  People can be so ignorant about wildlife and the ramifications of feeding and habituating wild animals to humans.
