Last Tuesday of May chat

Sorry your weekend was a bummer, Tina.  Hopefully you got a little fun in anyway. Cathy, I agree about the weather.  Nobody wants 110, but really .... would high 70s to low to mid 80s be that unreasonable?  Tomorrow is the first day of June and I'd like to be able to go outside without a sweatshirt, except that it's supposed to rain again. Sad I'd also like to get my lounge chair cushions out of the dining room and back in the patio where they belong.

Owie.  4 1/2 hours in the sun left my shoulders looking like a fire truck.  I looked for a light weight shirt to put on to cover my shoulders, but couldn't find anything of my own and didn't want to borrow someone elses when I get so groady in the garden.  But, the clearing is ALMOST done...maybe another 2 square feet and hopefully when the sun mov3es down a bit DS will go out and finish it up for me.

Off to get cleaned up so I can eat something.......I'm just yucky right now!

Are we sister's????  LOL!  I tease my hubby all the time about how beautiful I look not to mention smell after I have been in the garden all day!  I have my "special" garden garb.  Some of those shirts are getting thread bare so it's time to make some more old stuff garden clothes.

The nice thing about getting so YUCKY is that it makes a nice shower so much nicer!  Good thing my little Rocky doesnt mind cause he is my garden buddy.

Oh boy ... if you guys are relying on David and I for pics of Meg's wedding I'm in trubble.  I'll see if David will do that.  Actually we need to get the girls in to the kennel cos it will be WAY too long to leave them otherwise.

    Feel better Tina.

Sunburns are not fun -- which is why I haven't had a tan since I moved to Floor-daa!!

This October is our 10th anniversary and I thought an Alaskan cruise would be really fun. I checked online though and it seems like the best months are May - Sept. Does anyone know much about Alaska and if October/November would just be all around bad timing? DH has to put in for vacation a year in advance, so he's already got the time off but we could wait until a year from now too.

Just came back from the gym and it's 66 degrees outside and looking like rain is on the way...again. DH has had a 10 day break and although he doesn't mind the weather, I'd be super bummed if this was my vacation time.

I haven't been sleeping well since Friday night so I'm tired. Still another hot one here it wouldn't be that bad if it wasn't for the humidity. Had to give Blue a quick bath at my mom's yesterday he rolled in poop.

Cathy, I haven't a clue, but I wonder if you pm'd or emailed Jeano if she could tell you.  I know I see her pop in here once in a blue moon, so maybe her account is still active.

I also don't know about Alaska but Jean is active on FB if you wanted to ask her and she's not around here.

Just a correction, I hope you mean you wish you hadn't GOTTEN UP... because, please, I would like you to continue to keep waking up.

I am having a hell day myself.  Bug in my eye yesterday has either scratched something in my eye or I don't know what - my eyeball has been a bloodshot mess all day.  I've tried really really hard not to rub it, I've taken so much saline eyewash to it that it isn't funny - the fact that I feel a sting in my eye just over saline (whaa huh?  why??) makes me curious that this is likely not some foreign thing in my eye, but fairly likely a scratch or something.  ACK it is not fun.

Add on that I've been focused on intense spreadsheet and project reconcilliation all day that has seriously strained my eyesight and patience.  So on top of something irritating my eye, I have a headache and sinus pressure and I just want to stick my head in a bucket of water.  Ok, really I should quit whining.  Sorry.

Paige -- pretty please go to the doctor.  Seriously -- if you have a laceration on the cornea it is NOT good and you can get an eye infection that can cost you your sight way too easily.  Even a walk-in clinic -- and typically it's just cheap eye-vaselline type antibiotics that really aren't expensive.  It takes a while to heal but whatever scratched it can really spread some nasty bacteria.

If it's as bad tomorrow, then I will.  I feel like maybe a cold compress and more eye flushing (at home where I don't care what I look like so I can get all messy) might be worthwhile before I have a doctor do the same thing in his/her office for $80.  Stupid mayflies.... I don't care what their purpose is in the chain of life cycles, they ought to die right along w/mosquitos and ticks.  Thank you!  Little devil bastards.

Going to go catch up in a minute.

Great thing happened to me today...

I lost a contract for jokingly saying, "it sucks to be you."

Yeah, that's right, because I jokingly said it sucks to be you.

Why is that so great.... this company sucks, and I only haven't left because I love my clients. Good, they severed the ties for me, and because of the way they did this, now they look bad. They routinely take 6+ months to find staffing. It works out very well for me because one of my clients, if I am reading her tone and questions correctly it correctly, will probably end up paying me cash directly. My other client, I will lose, and I hate that. However, it looks like I may replace those hours, with working half the number of hours at double the pay, thus ending up break even with some free time.  If not, I'm not all too worried, I'll go back to one of the companies I worked with in the past but have no active clients with, and tell them I have time. Like I said, clients routinely sit for 6+ months waiting for staff to work with them.

    Good luck Poppet.

Meg, my friend us flasks last year when we were in her wedding. Just saying.

    Glenda, it's called sunblock.

    • Gold Top Dog

Well yes.  But, I don't normally burn.  And for crying out loud I live in the MOUNTAINS in the NORTH!

I hereby vow to stay out of the garden tomorrow.

    • Gold Top Dog

Glenda, it doesn't matter if you don't burn, you should still wear sunblock.

So, the whole situation about not being able to contract with that agency... I'm cracking up about it. I mean, there was some context to my saying that. The whole thing I find to be a big joke. They were probably looking for a reason.... and I did love one of the people who supervised me calling them back and going at them for their dumb decision, and telling them I was one of the best staff she had worked with, and that it was their loss to do that(rather than just yelling at me, or telling her to yell at me for it).

Enjoying my day off. Tried to run errands, but Clive got fussy and the little to go packs of formula were apparently not enough to end his hunger. The lad is rearranging his classroom, so can't watch the child. Thus, errands remain undone. Of course, the minute I headed home, the wee one fell asleep in his car sear, where he still remains.

Tried to acquire about two rats that Petco had on their adoption table. One of my rats passed on recently and I thought her sister might like friends (though she doesn't seem too sad). These weren't babies, so I thought they might not be as rambunctious as very young rats would be (Yersinia has a lasting head tilt). I waited 15 minutes while the employee texted on her phone. And yes, she did see me.  I was so annoyed that I walked all the way to the back of the store to put back the cat litter I was going to buy .
