Mindless Hump Day

Glass Tessy's feeling better!  Karen -- I think Bugsy's doing you proud!  workmen can be such a stress.  Deb - you make me remember why I don't gamble.  I'm too bad at it!

Tina & Glenda -- seriously -- any health store -- Sabadil (Boiron's allergy formula) REALLY helps.  You have to take it frequently but it really does help.

Ok -- time to laugh -- how do you know when you've been married .... er .... quite a while???

Shortened background - - we're training Luna & Tink at a nursing home now and our current wagon is just TOO big.  but they need the wagon to get them "up" high enough for someone 'sitting' to pet them so they don't jump up/scratch someone.  Elderly skin is frail.

David and I *both* did a ton of research last weekend -- found a little wagon by "Morgan" that was far smaller, metal, looked decent (and we both came to the same conclusion independantly) and ordered it.  It came yesterday.  David spent ... 3-4 hours putting it together.  His comment?  "Thank Heavens we ordered the one described as 'Most easily put together' ....  NOT!"

He wasn't quite done with it before *my* bedtime but we did a bit of training to get ther girls used to it.  (Thanks Julie - those tiny "star" treats DO come in handy at times)

    EXCEPT.  (hear Tink's voice"

"It's making NOISES at ME -- and it MOVES ... I am NOT jumpin in THAT thing!"

Luna (who is easily far longer than this 24" wagon) really had not a problem at all with it.  And she's usually Ms. Scardey of new things.  But nope.  Tink flat out HATED it.  metal = it 'rings' a bit when something hits it -- and I think the echo on my carpetless floors wigged her a bit.  We made some progress but wow -- that is NOT gonna be a match made in heaven or anywhere ELSE in Altamonte Springs!!

I sat here today thinking that we've only got til Saturday and how really BADLY Tinker hated that wagon.  She can be stubborn -- and I don't know that I'm gonna give up but I've only got so many hours between here and Saturday when we go back to the nursing home with Miss Tinker with us this time.

So ... I decided to email the husband and mildly suggest ... er ... a different wagon?  Ordered on Amazon with Prime we'd have it Friday (and *scuffing toe in dirt* husband would need to take Friday night to PUT together??) but ...

So ... I opened my email and there's an email from Davey with the heading "Wagon".

"I think that wagon is too small and too flimsey -- if we order one today with Amazon Prime we'll get it Friday and I can get it put together in time for us to go to the nursing home on Saturday.  Whaddya think?"

    ++++++++++++++

*chortle*  I do love this man.  He decided on another metal one which I tend to think is a problem, but it will be sturdier and easier to put a nice thick non-clicky-for-toenails-non-skid surface in it to satisfy Ms. Tinker's delicate sensibilities.

Now ... I just have to find someone to give a cute little 24" wagon to!  LOL

But you would have laughed yourself into hysterics last night seeing David on the floor trying in VAIN to help the pug decide she could "touch" that clicky metal thingamy.  Luna had no problem at all folding her 30" length (and that's just between feets folks) into the itty bitty wagon.  Probably because Luna decided last weekend that 30 sets of grammas and grampas and TONS of treats made for one danged fine afternoon!!!

so tell me -- if we 'read' each other this way after 14+ years, what'll we be like in another 30?  Will we even need to talk?? LOL

My problem is with my skin and eyes - itching and redness - and not with my sinuses.  I really can't take any type of anti-histimine at all, even a natural one, because of the drug interaction.

    • Gold Top Dog

It's not an anti-histamine Tina -- it's a homeopathic.  And it's *for* allergies, not sinuses.  It will help the redness and itching.

As far as specific eye stuff -- find Similisan's "Pink Eye" formula.  It's also a homeopathic, but I tell you, it will make your eyes SO much less painful!!  I was skeptical that a homeopathic could really help, but it *does*.  It's amazing.

Homeopathics won't clash with pharmaceutical drugs.  And both of those will bring you a TON of relief.

A real health store should have both of them.  But in the Similisan eye drops -- get the Pink Eye formula if your eyes are sore and red, rather than just the allergy formuila in that.  I suffer with the same thing that those WORK.

You gotta be carefull what you stick in them eyes!!!  hehe

Just kiddin....I read on a site not long ago that cammomile tea bags (wet & warm) are good for these things.  Warm pressing the bag right onthe eye.  Can't hurt to try right and you get a good cup O Tea in the process.

Long, soul sucking day here. I'm at my company's office today (like every Wednesday). Had our team meeting, individual meeting with my manager, team lunch (that was nice actually), webinar training session that was far too long and stupid people asking too many stupid questions.

The significant other and I talked about getting our legal stuff in order last night. We're an unmarried couple, so we both want to make sure we're each covered should something happen to either of us. Honestly, we really should have taken care of this by now (we've been together just over 7 years, living together for 6 of those years - fully committed to each other). We even joked about just simplifying things and going to town hall to get legally hitched. We'll see which makes more legal and financial sense (yes we're an odd couple lol).

Tina, he's absolutely right -- chamomile is an excellent anti-inflammatory.

And -- if your skin overall is extremely itchy -- you can get some old timey Boric Acid at a drug store -- and add like a tablespoon to your bathwater -- it's amazing how well it soothes itchy skin.

In the eyes of many states you ARE married.  "common law" -- now you'd probably have to co-habit for 7 years to satisfy the technical definition.  But honestly?  Nothing beats a will -- and frankly just talking to an attorney to tell you how the state DOES view your long-term relationship will likely make a difference.

Tina - I've used chamomile tea bags for itchy eyes and it does help.

Callie - I'll have to try boric acid in my bathwater. I have a skin issue that unfortunately causes itching and I'm willing to give anything a go to relieve it even temporarily!

New Hampshire recognizes common law inheritance (nifty thing we learned last night!). After 3 years living together, if he should or I should pass away, the state recognizes my right to inherit his belongings and the like. There's no common law marriage recognized here. I want to draft a will AND a living will for myself in particular (I have some VERY strong desires on how I want my care to be should I be unable to make my own decisions - the SO is already aware but I want to designate him as the ONLY one legally able to make medical decisions on my behalf). I've given myself until the end of the month to have those drawn up. I figure if I give myself a firm deadline, I'm more apt to get this done.

Callie, I appreciate the advice.  I hesitate to add anything without consulting my doctor since the wrong combo can result in seizures.

I've been doing salt water compresses on my eyes since I seldom drink tea and don't have any at home right now.

As for the skin, I shower daily but seldom take a bath, but I will keep the boric acid in mind.

Smart on all fronts -- that's one of the things my attorney does (not big estate planning just small stuff) but it is ALL **VERY** state-specific.  So contact an attorney (not a paralegal) and have it done.  Don't use online forms.  But do holler if I can help you.  It even varies from state to state what the docs are called -- NY combines a power of attorney and a sort of medical power of atty and Florida does completely different stuff.  But I can at least help you with jargon and "how do I ask??" type of stuff.

I use boric acid every day of my life.  It is SO helpful to soothe itchy skin.  Email me or we can talk on the phone.  I use all sorts of coping mechanisms - I have MEGA psoriasis and yet I can't take steroids which leaves me largely SOL as far as treatment.  But I stay sane!!  So email me and we'll put our heads together.

I'm getting ready to paint some trim for our house.  DH has got tons of advice for me but I assured him that I can indeed paint this trim without a ten page instruction booklet.  sigh

Sending good thoughts to everyone!!! I hear ya on the allergies. I can barely swallow today!

Johnny, so glad Tessy is doing a little better today. You guys are in our thoughts.

In the interest of spreading sunshine, I have had a really awesome day so far. Had 3 separate coworkers share their expertise on 3 very different areas, which helped me do some awesome work stuff. Got a scary letter from an attorney in the mail... that included an unexpected inheritance check! Took Rascal to the vet for annual titers... and they didn't charge us an exam fee! Took Rascal into the office and on to main street... and he didn't bark or growl at a single person! Got home and checked messages and... a friend might have found a horse for me to lease! Looked at my phone and... I got an invitation to play board games tonight with a girl I have been wanting to make friends with! And to top it all off, BF is flying in to visit me tonight! I have an overabundance of warm fuzzies and would like to share them with everyone :) Warm, warm, warm, fuzzy, fuzzy, fuzzy. Hope you guys are feeling those!

Callie - can you put carpet in the wagon? You could probably get a small scrap piece for free from a carpet store.

We're all sick. Bleh. Super sore throat, runny noses, and Willa just started saying her ear hurts. Sad
