Sooo the vet spelled my dog's name

wrong on her rabies tag and vaccination certificate. That's not a huge deal right? Do I need to get it fixed? Or can I just wait until next year?

I'd gve them a call. It shouldn't be a big deal to re-issue a new one with the correct name.

Agreed. When I took Sadie (now Trinity) and LT (now Solo) in for their rabies and health certs, the girl at the front desk had LT listed as ALTIE.  I corrected her then, and as I was paying the bill, danged if it wasn't Altie on both papers.  Told her it was wrong and I expected it to be corrected....I had to get unpleasant since she tried to CHARGE me more for HER mistake.  Took getting the vet into that disagreement!

Not to hijack your thread, but I have a cute story about name spelling.
When I took Lucy in to have her rabies shot, the vet spelled her name wrong, but I never noticed it.
I took her to another vet a few months later for diarrhea, and handed the woman at the desk her rabies ccertificate as proof of vaccination.
The woman said, "You spell her name L-O-O-S-E-Y??"
I told her not usually, but it seemed appropriate that day!

The vet got my pup's breed wrong on his certificate, which was annoying (had him down as CARDIGAN Welsh Corgi)... I swear, you'd think at Alameda East they could get it right, but I guess the desk people aren't as knowledgable... >X.x;<

I would call and get them to fix the name otherwise it makes a mess of your paperwork.  I had to get them to fix my rabies certificate from a one year to a three year (their mistake).

Me personally I would require them to fix the mistake. Not sure how much of a problem it would cause if you don't do it but when you are paying for care for your animal everything should be done correctly same way as if it was being done to you. G'luck:)

Yeah, I was hoping I could get away with not having to correct them, especially since it's already been over a week. But I could have sworn they spelled her name right on her information sheet (they had asked me to verify it).

The vet got our dogs' breeds mixed up on their records/rabies vaccinations .They were both mixed breeds actually, but they had our old dog( I say 'old dog' because she's dead now [X(]) listed as a Border Collie X and she was a Blue Heeler/Australian Shepherd mix. And the dog we got from a shelter ( neither of these are the dogs I have now), who was a mutt, as  a Labrador Retriever cross, but it's obvious now there was no Lab in her! She was a pit bull mix I think. I made sure they got Cassidy and Mirelle's right [:)]

Not to hijack either, but my vet made out a health certificate for my pup and put the wrong color - called her a blue merle instead of a red merle. [8|]

These stories are a good reminder to check everything the vets do and to question anything that doesn't seem right.  I've had vets make some serious mistakes and even some that would be life threatening if I hadn't caught the error.
