She's such a delicate looking beauty and what big, gorgeous green eyes!  Makes my heart happy that things look to be working out -what a good big brother you are being Shadow!

Yeah, she looks like a real sweet girl. Shy

Thank you and yes, he is. Last night, Shadow was laying on the couch with me. Jade jumped up and snuggled next to Shadow. Yes, I got pics. From the regular camera, so those will have to wait.

And thank you for the support. My biggest concern was how Shadow would take to her. If he accidently hurt her trying to play or was defensive, I didn't want others to be mad at him for being a dog. As our rescue friend pointed out, her chances were better with us than at the shelter, though I think anyone would be powerless to pass up a snowy ball of furr and purr like herr.

We can't save them all and I'm not going to try. As I said to Glenda regarding donating to her MS fund, I do what I can when I can. But I keep an eye on my budget. It wouldn't do any of us any good if we got over-extended. Cats are lower maintenance in that I don't have to walk her. Necessary vet care, food, and water, and of course, rubs and playing. Now, I've got to rig up another cat-fishing pole. Usually, a piece from one of my two-piece fishing rods with a shoestring tied on to it. And I'm contemplating a cat condo.

Amen to that. They've really hit it off well. I've got pics of them laying the bed together. Last night, I got pics of Jade snuggling up next to Shadow on the couch next to me.

She's starting to come out of her shell. After a few days, she is beginning to realize that this place with what humans call a/c is her place to live and by golly, we give her food and water and she knows how to use a litter box. She's gained a little weight that she needed and her energy is growing by leaps and bounds. This morning, I heard her meow for the first time. It was small and weak but she's finding her voice.

Ron, I am glad to read that she is doing so well, and that Shadow is being so caring towards her.  I guess he gets that from his human parents?

    Gosh.

What a cutie pie.  Ron, she looks like a keeper!
    • Gold Top Dog
Oh Ron!  She's a cutie!  Her eyes are to die for.  She definatly fell into it with you, your wife & Shadow.

Um, could I borrow Shadow?  Since he's such a gentleman with Jade, he might have some pointers for Grady.

She gorgeous!  Love the white fur and green eyes.

Ron -- somehow I missed your original post of a couple days ago.  My belated congratulations on your new "little furry bundle of joy!"  She is beautiful -- I've only seen 2 totally white cats in my life.  One was a huge, giant stray my aunt had when I was about 7 or 8 years old.  The other looks like your Jade - she's at the pet supply store where we used to get Tonka's food.  She hung out on the cash register, and if you pet her, she climbed onto your shoulders!  Her eyes were bright blue.  I wish I could see those jade-green eyes in person (I don't have the best monitor for true colors).

I think it's amazing that Shadow is so calm and cooperative!  Those pictures of them together are great.  It's a testament to you and your wife that he is such a calm, well socialized guy that he isn't knocking her out with too much exuberance.  Do you think it's because he can tell she has some special needs right now?  Perhaps if she came to you as a healthy, energetic, confident cat, he would've been more "pushy" with his welcome!

Anyway -- I can't wait to see more photos, so scan and post away!

Well, they had their first fight, last night. She jumped over him to get to DW's feet or lap and Shadow went after her, I don't know if it was from being protective or jealous. It could be that she was jumping over his head so he reacted on instinct. Jade got a few scratches but she seems okay. My wife was mad at Shadow and this is what I did not want to happen. If Shadow couldn't handle having another pet around all the time I didn't want people being mad at him. And I was initially against getting another pet. Some dogs do best in one pet homes. So the jury is still out. Everything seems okay this morning and they slept in the same house all night, though Jade is giving Shadow a wide berth. I think he got blindsided and it freaked him out.

Well, Shadow fought with her after she tried jumping over his head to get to DW and he scratched her a few times. My wife was right there. As soon as Shadow took a breath, she grabbed him and the cat hid out. I bribed him with a treat to get him outside for a while. After a while, I let him back in and things have been okay since then. He was reacting on instinct. Temperment-wise, Huskies can sometimes have a problem with smaller animals such as cats.

But we'll wait and see a little longer.
