    STBC BANK CORP LTD,
    ABIDJAN-COTE D'IVOIRE
    (IVOARY COAST)
    TEL:+22508513340.

    Dear Sir,

I am Mr.Jeff DOUGLAS, I work with the STBC BANK CORP LTD Bank Abidjan
Cote d'ivoire as an account officer in the Treasury/Credit Control
Unit. I came to know you in private search for a reliable and reputable
person to handle this confidential transaction, which involve the transfer
of a huge sum of money into a foriegn account requiring maximum
    confidence.

    THE NATURE OF THE PROPOSITION/TRANSACTION:

A foreigner by name Engineer Phillip Rayford who is a marine engineer
byprofession, until his death some times ago, does his and banking
transaction with us at Standard Credit Union Bank, and had a closing balance
as at the end of January 2003,which worth $4,000,000.00 ( Four million
Dollars). I was his personal account officer and since he deposited
this money with us in the year 2003, a single paying or withdrawal was
never made by him. We where instructed by my late client that the money be
kept and secured in a security and finance firm because it was less
expensive to keep and secure the funds in the security. This was done for
    him accordingto his instructions.

Surprisingly, for Two years since this money was kept in the security
and finance firm nothing has being heard from him, not until I was
informed about his death with evidence when I decided to call to the number
he once gave to me, of which several attempts has been made earlier but
all was in vain. Our bank now expected his Next of Kin to come forward
as a sole beneficiary to his assets with the bank. As his personal
account officer valuable efforts has being made by me for more than one
year to get in touch with any of my late client family or relatives
    without any success.

It is because of the percieved impossibility of being able to locate
any of my late client Next of Kin(He had no wife, Children or Relative
that is known to me ).Based on this, I secretly seek advice from a fellow
colleague who has being in banking for about 14 years now about this
issue of my late client , he made me understand that things like this do
happen and at the end of the day the chairman and board of directors of
the bank will declare the funds as ''Unclaimed'' and subsequently
divert it for thier personal use. In order to avert this negetive
development,I now seek your permission to have you stand as the Next of Kin to my
late client, so that the funds will be released and paid into your
account as the beneficiary's Next of Kin.

As soon as I recieve an acknowledgement of your acceptance, I will
furnish you with the necessary modalities of the transaction. I assure you
that this transcaction is 100% risk free, as far as the hole
arrangement on this transfer has been made ,the money will be shared 50-50 basics

I look forward to your response.

    Regards.
    Mr.Jeff DOUGLAS

Ohh forgot to post my question, is there a way to not let our emails get out or is this just a freak thing where someone got lucky on guessing my personal email?  I thought I had it so that could get PM'd but not sure.  I'm not trying to get anyone in trouble, but just wanted to let you know that I got this.

Thanks for the help and info, Terri

I have to wonder how they got that far without a log-in name and a password.  Before I got my problems with the new forum straightened out (big thanks to Jaime) I couldn't get onto any profile - my own or anyone elses - I just kept getting the *not an authorized user* stuff.

I just did a search in the members list and there is a snoppy doggy dog who just joined today.  Terry, it does look like that email was sent through the board, but even so - I believe that the email addresses are kept hidden.
    • Gold Top Dog
If you want them hidden, they are hidden. I don't hide mine. The sort of email you got though, my server deletes before I even get it.

Fuzzy Dogs, I had the same problem when I was having trouble with my connection, frustratring, but ok with me thinking that it provided some security.

Minimom, I thought that the emails addresses were hidden, when you log onto my profile, can you see my personal email address?  This letter was sent directly to my email address, not to the forum or through a PM.

Thanks for the help, and keep an eye out for yourselves, these people are crafty!!
    • Gold Top Dog
To message anyone on here like he did you have to be a member. He has just been banned.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention so we could handle it.

Your e-mail can be public or hidden. I suggest you do a hidden e-mail and then only members can contact you through the forum. If you find someone is abusing the forum please let me know

Thanks Jaime, I discovered that I had not checked the box to make my email hidden, totally my fault, I fixed that I think.  I appreciate you helping to keep those kind of creeps out of here.  Sorry for the trouble!

When I look at someone's profile who has not hidden their email, all I can see is "send email to...", but I can't actually see the address  However, I did figure out that if someone sends you an email through the board and cc's themself, then they do see the your address in the cc copy that comes back to them.

Anyway, I did a test email to myself and the layout of the "from" address looked exactly like the layout on the from address that you posted, so even though it went directly to your email, I'm pretty sure that the email was sent through the board.  I hope that makes sense...

I had this same email, I too opened it up, but then realized it was a hoax and deleted it.  It is scary how people try to take advantage of others that are innocent or naive.

I just checked my email, and I noticed that I got it too. I didn't realize it earlier because I changed my email to go to my school address. That also means I can't delete it. It just sits there until the box gets full or something, and then it will disappear.

I got it too this morning, it went directly into my spam, but I usually check out whats in there. Ididn't realize it had anything to do with Dog.com because I have had these same hoaxes many times before. Although this one did have dog someplace in it because I was suprised that it was one of these hoaxes.
I was into Clark Howard website last week and he has it in there..said that many people are really falling for this kind of hoax and loosing money over it.

I feel badly for those people that don't realize it's a scam.  I am also that person who get's the "Send this out to 10 people and you get the gift certificate" email from friends and sends back the link that shows it's a hoax.
    • Gold Top Dog
I look everything up in hoaxbusters but I didn't look this up because I knew it was a scam and it had been going around for a long time,,,so I just ignored it!
