Let's send our prayers to those in the Northeast!

Let's send our prayers to those in the Northeast!  For those in Penn, NJ and NY.  Hopefully I am not leaving any states out.  Out west and south of where I live there has been a lot of flooding in NY.  They even had to close part of the NYS Thruway and 2 Truckers died out by Unadilla when the bridge washed out.  I hope those who are in the flooded areas are safe and their pets, too!

Our area got a ton of rain, the town about 15 minutes away was hit pretty hard as they are on the river. The rivers around here are over-flowing. Luckily our house is in town and on high ground, about two miles from the river. We have a bit of water in the basement but not too bad. We bought a sub-pump and it is keeping the water under control. I have seen on the news other homes where the basement is completely under water. I consider myself lucky to only have less than an inch.

My prayers go out to others in the area who have not been so lucky.

We'll be thinking about you guys.  Too bad there isn't some way of moving some of that water from where it isn't needed to the western states that are on fire.

Wow the flooding is so widespread and awful. I really had no idea it was that bad. My thoughts and prayers are with you all up there. We have a nice dry guest bedroom with a double size futon if anyone wants to get away. You just have to deal with the possibility of a hurricane while you're here. [;)]

Don't forget about us in Northern Virginia...we got (in some cases) 8-9 inches of rain in 36 hours.  Highways and byways were washed out and houses were flooded.

Hi Micksmom - looks like you guys got a ton of rain as well. I see you live in NJ? You must mean you live near Easton, NJ (not sure if there is such a place)? I am in Easton, MD [:)]

The beltway was insane!! I saw pictures of the mudslide, I was so thankful I was not driving to N.VA that day as I sometimes do for work, what a mess!!

    Xerxes,]
I was driving home from VA Sunday night through 15/29 back to PA when the storms started...let me just say I was SCARED TO DEATH!!!! Dustin and I were talking about how bad it was raining and that if there were flood warnings we wouldn't even know it because all we had was radio...the weather really reminded us of Twister...we joked about it to keep each other going saying fun things like "there's a cow" when we passed a field with cows in it but then Dustin got a little serious saying if he saw hail we were in trouble!
I said could you imagine the two of us in a ditch trying to get Markie and his daughter to lay down along with our frenchie pup and the Boston who was with us this weekend..not a pretty site!

We live on a mountain so we're not affected at our home but the bridge into town was shut down, the other side of our mountain a road washed out and neighbors and friends basements have flooded but we were spared and blessed.

My thoughts are with the rest...Joel and Greg live in Bloomsburg, its flooded and the water is off until Friday at the earliest. They did not have any flooding in their homes so that is a blessing as well

Don't think I've ever heard of Easton, PA... I can understand not you not knowing there was an Easton, MD, its a tiny spec of a town. [;)] (But I love it!)

What, how could you not have heard of Easton, PA? Haven't you ever had Crayola crayons?

    And back to seriousness
It doesn't really flood where I live, unless you count the water on the playground at the end of the block being almost deep enough for Max to swim in, but it doesn't come in to the houses here. It does nearby though. I haven't really been more than about 5 minutes from home, so I haven't seen anything really seen anything, but I imagine the holes on the bridge/dam at the park that Max likes to run under and peek out the other side of are covered.
Also, I bet my friend's family is glad they're moving. They lived in one of the towns that really gets flooded, and a few of the streets near there are closed. I think they left today, and they're going to California (now they can have earthquakes instead). They haven't been in the house all week because it's been being packed up. They made great timing on getting out of there.

the thing bothering me is all these people driving through these "lakes"in the road...ought to know better.

I'm originally from Binghamton, NY area - keep seeing familiar sites underwater on CNN.  I was a kid when Hurricane Agnes caused devastating flooding on the Susquehanna and Chenango Rivers - my folks (still there) say this is much worse.
