Birds pooping in my dogs water

Can anyone give me any suggestions on how to keep the birds out of
my dogs water.  Someone told me to put their water bowl under a table or something and the birds would'nt bother it, but they did.
I have to change their water three or four times a day.   HELP !

I change my dogs outside water several times a day to keep it fresh and clean AND keep a wading pool for them that is changed every morning and more often if they get it dirty.  I want them to ALWAYS have access to fresh water.  The inside water goes so fast the it's just a matter of refilling THAT one......

Birds aren't too comfy coming into the yard with 6 gsds so I don't have an issue with bird poop in the water.

Max is an indoor dog, so I've never kept water outside for him.  If he's outside and he wants a drink he just goes inside and gets it. My house is right in the flight path of geese/ducks going back and forth from the West Davis ponds to the North Davis ponds and I've had the *pleasure* of scraping piles of bird poop of the patio cushions & umbrella that were big enough to make you think dogs & cats had started to fly. [:D]

I have a little bird bath outside and have the same problem. It's a little too tall for my dog to drink out of it so I don't worries t much about it but I still have to change the water at least once a day. Sounds like the birds just love your dogs water the same way they love to jump in my bird bath. All I can really think of is not to leave it out in the open where they can get to it. Maybe even put a special water bowl outside just for the bird to destract them from your dogs water.

I keep my dogs water inside and ouside she has a kiddie pool thats a little to deep for the bird to bath in.
