Monday morning muddle

My boss and I saw that today was family day in canada and were wondering how such a day came about. It sounds so nice. We would never have a holiday here that was strictly dedicated to family day unless it was associated with something else like christmas and so forth. Just curious!

I cancelled the appt, they said nearly every client they had today already cancelled before me. She sounded disgusted she had to go in to work for nothing and I can hardly blame her. I won't be able to reschedule until probably may now since I don't think we get another day off work until then. Oh well. I expected the doc to say "keep doing what you're doing" and pay $135 plus $50 in gas anyway so I guess I'm saving money in the long run ;p

The plow went by already. Guess its time to power up the snow blower!

Family Day is a pretty new holiday for us - we've only been "celebrating" it for 4 years now.  I have no idea why Family Day came about.....perhaps something to do with February being a hard month for many people and wanting to give them a break?  LOL - no idea.  I do know that some people are kind of mad that Rembrance Day wasn't made the statutory holiday instead.  I get that, but welcome any holidays the government wants to give us!

Our cleaning has been put on hold, we are taking the dogs hiking instead, it was DH's idea and I am thrilled - who WANTS to clean their bathroom anyway right?  I am just trying to find somewhere we haven't been before that will be suitable for winter hiking.

    Good Morning all

I have been out of pocket since Thurs.  I'm not sure I have caught up yet.

    Those that are facing the ice and snow...yet again...{{hugs}}

It was 62 at 5:00 this morning here but now it is already down to 40.  We are supposed to get cold tonight but only rain today no snow.  It stayed warm all weekend here but very very windy so I did some pre-spring cleaning.  Not my favorite thing but somebody has got to do it and I dont have a maid, lol!

I am very curious about the Timmy visit this weekend?  How was the sweet Rottie puppy?  I dont know how you could stand not bringing it home, lol!

ETA: Went back to Sunday chat and found out that you had a great time with the Rottie's.

I made it home yesterday less than a half hour before the freezing rain and snow started, but awoke with a headache and chills, so did not go to work this morning.

The wedding was fun, food was good, nice to see everyone again.  My only complaint was the music was too loud and mostly hip-hop/rap that really made my head hurt.  The bride was beautiful, my clothes were acceptable, and my friend and I were probably in the minority of guests who did not wake up with a hangover on Sunday.  I lost one of my pearl earrings, but managed not to spill food down the front of my dress.

Super Angry to all of you off work today....

I had to drive in. It was HORRIBLE out. Got a LOT of snow yesterday. I had to drive home from Toledo and it was only raining there... They said we got up to 10 inches.... I believe it. Good grief enough already. More on the way tonight.

Nothing like having to call in sick on a day the rest of the world gets off *sigh*

I went to the other doctor and I"m back on the big-guns expensive antibiotic.  Nothing went away over the weekend and last night I started with a nasty cough so I had to ramp it up a bit.  At 7:00 last night my temp was 99.8, at 10 it was 105.6, at 1 it was 102.9, = I NEVER get a fever!  But by 3:30 a.m. it spiked at 105.9 so I took some Tylenol to get that down (I was literally sweating so hard it dripped off me as I walked).  I don't think I've *ever* had a fever like that -- and it scared me.  But it was back down to 99 this morning

Dr visits all morning -- just in the door at 2 (with my drugs ahhhh)

He doesn't want me to go back to work til Wed - I must be heinously contagious.

Callie, you definitely need to rest! Fevers that high are dangerous. I'm all too prone to them when I get sick. They've been so bad, I've gotten delirious and hallucinated. I hope you feel better soon!

Today is a whopping 20 degrees out (feels like 5 with the windchill). But, it's really sunny outside, so I'm pretending it's warmer than it is. My clothes dryer just went off and disturbed her royal highness (aka Ari) and she grumbled at it, rolled over on the couch and fell back asleep. Hard life. Well, back to earning the kibble. Few more phone calls to make. At least my voice is finally back! I slept pretty much all weekend and that really helped me kick the last bit of whatever bug it was I caught.

And *I* never get high fevers -- 101 is about it for me ---- I knew I was in trouble when I got "COLD" (I never get cold -- it's jsut not in me unless I'm sick)

But I knew when the temp got to over 103 I was in trouble.  But what I did kicked it thankfully.

But yeah, high fevers can cause seizures, and all sorts of bad stuff.

A little family reunion with Hootie, I saw!!  I've been interested in Bridget Carlsen seminars - I'll be interested to hear what you thought of it.

I'll come back in to read the whole thread, but I felt the need to vent quickly before I blow up on someone.  WHY OH WHY does a person ask you a question, you answer it, and they repeat your answer back to you like they're incredulous and don't believe you??

For instance: "Have you gone to lunch yet?"  No.  "No?!"  No, I haven't.  "You haven't gone to lunch yet?!?!"  NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!!!!!!  How many times, how many ways, how many languages would you like the response?  The answer is still the same!  Cripes sakes, it's something that REALLY sets my blood on fire.

Wow 10" of snow with ice underneath. 10"!!! They were only calling for 1". Yep, they were a little off.

We have the opposite! They were saying 6-10" for us; we got 1". I think I might start charging people to come and ice skate in our driveway.

Willa did great at daycare again today. Not one tear. The teacher says she plays wonderfully with all the other kids, never throws a fit or gets frustrated, behaves nicely, etc. I wonder why she can't do that at home? *sigh*

I brought Sonja to baby story time at the library this morning. She fell asleep on the way home - for like five minutes. Now she won't nap. Crying Mommeh needs mommeh time!

A few months ago I bought tickets to a comedy show at the local college. Plus there's a Spay-ghetti and No (Meat) Balls dinner that is a fundraiser for spay/neutering that I wanted to go to before the show. DH just found out that they mandated work for that day (Saturday.) It's the first time in like two years that they have mandated work on a Saturday. He's going to try to get out of it... somehow. We haven't had a date night in like... 3 years. :/

My mom does this ^^^^^^   For example:  Mom: If you can't get your nose wet how do you shower? Me:  I can't  Mom: you can't SHOWER?  I understand.

We got the best salsa ever at Costco last weekend - I think it's called Jack's, it's in the refrigerator section near where the cheeses and meats are.  It's "natural"  but it's the best consistency ever - not too chunky, not too juicy.  It's amazing :)

I was just entering some debit card receipts in my checkbook, and I realized that when I went grocery shopping yesterday, the lady gave me the senior discount! Saved me $7! I know I have a few grey hairs, but I don't think I look like I was born in 1940. Big Smile Heck, for $7 you can say I'm 100.

I hope your DH can get the day off for the show.  And Congrats to Willa for being such a good girl (at least at daycare!)

    me three LOL

My neighbor's golden is THE most laid back dog I have ever met.  He's now 9 but he has always been flat out lazy - in the best way. This guy is longer than Bugs and just about as tall and weighs about 105-108lbs.  My other neighbor's two girls (ages 6 & 9 I think) really want a dog so they are practicing walking the above golden around the cul-de-sac and he just has his usual super golden smile. It is so adorable and Cody is just the sweetest dog ever.

My day has been eh.  Several months ago my cable modem went on the fritz, I swapped it out and they only give refurbs.  Today I had to drive over there and swap it again.  This is ridiculous.

Had a nice walk this morning and did field work again - gosh I wish I were smarter when Bugsy was younger - the field work is his thing and he is genuinely tired afterward, amazing.

Saw some daffodils in full bloom Big Smile Did a bit more raking and general tidying of the yard. And checked quite a few things off my to do list.  My desk doesn't look much better though................

place an ad on CraigsList for the motorcycle

If only I had the money, you wouldn't need the ad. I think you showed a pic of it once. But alas, I am barely pulling out of the pit the last 3 years have left me in.
