Cathy, how did you get Monday off?  Is Valentine's Day a state holiday in CA?  Good that you scheduled your squish-o-gram.  I'd rather do that than the gyn annual, but either way, both need to be performed.  And, don't you have Horse 101 tomorrow?  That'll be interesting.

We get this Monday off for Lincoln's BD and the next Monday off for Presidents Day. We also get Cesar Chavez day off next month. You all should really slap me when I complain about my job Stick out tongue

Yes - tomorrow is Horse 101. I'm super excited and a little nervous. I love horses but I also had a healthy respect for how big they are and that makes me a little skittish. I'm hoping that some training will at least give me enough nerve to be able to help out there more. I mean, at the orientation they were showing us how to clean the horses hooves with this pick thingy and I'm thinking "there is no way I'm going to grab a horse's hoof and dig dirt out of it". Not that I have any problem getting dirty but the horse didn't exactly look like he wanted to cooperate. The Horse 102 class is next month, and I'm taking that too.

President's Day.  I thought that was a holiday everywhere. No?

You don't have to make an appointment for a mammo at Kaiser anymore.  They're done on a walk-in basis.  I guess that pretty much eliminates the last excuse for putting it off.

Still sunny and chilly, but we're supposed to go back to windy and rainy sometime next week.  It was  nice while it lasted.

I'm pretty certain that the 21st is President's Day.

Deb, glad you were able to confirm!

Wahooooo!!  We've got 22 degrees now and I was finally able to lose the jacket over the legs AND the hoodie!  It's ridiculous that they have us stuck so close to the door that is constantly opening.  Yeah, it's a high traffic area, but it's also a COLD area.

As for dressing for strip poker....hmmmm, guess it depends on who else is involved in the game.

    • Gold Top Dog

Glenda, it could be worse.  Your table could be set up by the restrooms which is another high traffic area but without the fresh air.  Ick!

I cannot seem to get motivated to do anything.  I finally managed to get a few things in the mail and a few other little things done but I need to get busy and really catch up here in the office.  Maybe next week I'll get something accomplished.

Great to hear that Mubarak is finally gone.  Lets hope things improve in Egypt and some extremist group doesn't take power and send them even farther into the dark ages.  As I've been watching the stories on the news I kept thinking of a House Hunters Int'l show I saw a while back about an Egyptian man and his American family moving back to Egypt with their kids.  Silly, I know, but I was worrying about them .

I feel just well enough to be miserable :)  I slept reasonably well, and dramatically lowered my dependence on narcotics.  I still can't move my face much (tape and plaster in the way) which makes eating difficult, not to mention that I can't taste all too much (zero sense of smell).  So I can be annoyed at all the doohickeys up my nose and on my face, and the little bit of pain and discomfort esp in my teeth, and the blood clots I keep knocking loose.

Happy Friday ya'll. I think it's pretty cold here, but since I haven't really been outside since Tuesday I'm not quite sure anymore.  It's plenty sunny, that's for sure.

I hope all is well with Susan, I have been watching for an update.  Good thoughts to everyone else who needs them,

LMBO!!  Jackie I AM right beside the bathrooms!

When you walk in the door to the right is customer service, then stacks of coke and pepsi, then me, then the bathrooms, then Subway.  So the bathrooms are conveniently located between my kiosk and lunch! Ick!

It has warmed up so nicely that I really can't fuss now.  I even took off one pair of the wool socks!

I guess it's a toss up over which is worse, the cold coming in every time the door opens or the sight of the males coming out of the bathroom making "adjustments". lol  Although I wouldn't mind watching some men adust themselves, for the most part it makes me cringe. lol   I should be used to it by now the way all the young guys walk around clutching at their privates as though they might be stolen.

Nicole, sorry you're so miserable.  (((hugs)))

    • Gold Top Dog

Fortunately, my back is to the mens room door so I don't have to see said adjustments!  You know it's cold tho when clients complain about how freezing they are.  THEY aren't here all that long.  Oh well, its a job, it's fun for the most part and it's decent income.  I just need to figure out how to layer even more for cold mornings so that I don't look like an eskimo, and how to stratigically (sp) remove layers as the temp rises.

Nicole, sorry you are feeling so rough, and Jackie, sorry that YOU caught a cold.  Better than the flu, but still.......

I've missed way too much to try to catch up - we are back -and most of the chores are done.  Bugsy apparently is a natural road warrior LOL, as long as we were on an interstate he was settled. Outside the vehicle is a whole different story but he was really wonderful the whole trip.  He did find a cat in a dumpster while we walked him around the hotel, and he did greet the person we were staying with by fixating on an egret and nearly taking off, and he did open the porch door when he heard DH's car pulling up and wound up down the road with no collar Surprise (fortunately DH drove by and thought wow that dog looks like Bugsy and picked him up) but he was very well-behaved overall and was superb when he met Bean and was beyond superb when dealing with the non-stop barking guardy doxie we stayed with.

We enjoyed our journey and our stay, the weather was just OK but warmer, we hit no traffic going down or coming home and I even wound up enjoying being offline for a few days.  Of course I could access some things via my phone but it wasn't practical to do much more so I checked emails and got on with my day.  This does mean that sifting through my emails has been fairly stressful but it's all good.

To those who are unwell I send get well vibes - and vibes for  anyone who needs them

Glenda -- suggestions that used to work for me:

    1.  got long johns??  They work.  But even longer men's shorts UNDER your slacks will keep your thighs warmer yet not sweat you later.

    2.  Try a man's undershirt (t-shirt) under your shirt (probably a long sleeved t-shirt type shirt?) and then a pull-over sweater over that -- then a button down sweater over that and THEN a jacket.  But if the t-shirts are all half decent looking you can strip down a layer at a time and not die -- mostly you don't have to wear any one layer that is super heavy -- as long as there is air between the layers it insulates you.

    3.  Accessories?  An old fashioned silk scarf folded in a triangle with the knot at the back of your neck (loose) will cover t-shirts under a regular shirt and it's a bit of warmth for your neck (or shoulder if you want to tilt it that way).

The ladies pashma's that they're using a lot now (sort of a scarf almost-but-not-quite a shawl??) are really nice for dressing up what might otherwise look too casual or just adding an easily removed layer of warmth.

Nicole and Jackie - feel better - I'm still chained to my desk.

It's chilly in Fl but I enjoy it. Woke up today with a big puddle of pee again I took the dogs out at 4am 5 hrs later I find that I think Daisy did it. It's not like either of them to do that in the house.  Last time Daisy did that in the house she had kidney stones.  So I'm not sure what to do, do I bring them all to the vet which will cost me an arm and a leg that I don't have.

Then my own health problems lately my hands have me turning red and feel like their burning, I'm gonna tell my doctor when I see him next week but I think I need a specialist because my doctor has even said he doesn't know what causing anything with me and that just isn't helping me out Sad Just seems like my life is just going down hill.

Hope everyone else is doing better than me.........

Oops!  My bad. Indifferent  Didn't we used to have two 3-day weekends in February for presidents birthdays? Did they take one away and cram both of them into one weekend? I never know what day it is anymore.

I'm going to tempt DS #2 with a trip to Chevy's tonight.  The "Buy one entree, get another one for $3.99" coupon is too good to pass up.

The temp isn't that low (low 60s) but my hands and feet have been freezing all day.  The old rice bag and microwave have been getting a real workout. If I can keep my hands and feet warm, I'm good.

I feel better than yesterday but still pretty icky.  I had to go to work today, but did leave a couple hours early.

No bowling for me tonight.  I'm going to sit home and cough up a lung.

I am sooooo thankful for the shift in the jet stream !  It is now 30* and dang if it doesn't feel great  :)  Hopefully the melting won't cause too many problems for folks.

I am raising a glass of adult hot chocolate to all of us not feeling well.
