I know I'm kind of late, but I just watched it last night.

I didn't really think it was all that great... I guess the comment about malamutes being "all braun and no brain" really peeved me and got the movie (IMO) off to a very bad start... it just plays on the fallacy that malamutes are stupid... and it shows quite a few people did very little homework.

I also found myself thinking, a lot of the time, "yeah right" when it came to the dogs... [&:]. They acted less like dogs and more like humans (I guess I shouldn't expect much from Disney anyway).... finally, I thought it was more about Jerry and Kate (if their names are wrong, sorry, I watched it late last night) than the dogs...

    Anyway, I was disapointed [sm=sad.gif].

My kids and I love the movie. My son and I were crying. This is the best movie I've seen in a while.

You need to get out more.  [:D]

I would love to see the movie, but I think it would be way too hard when the dogs are left behind. I'd never stop crying.

Yes, I will say it's quite a sad movie...

We went to see it in the theaters, and then bought the DVD a few days after it came out. I love the movie!! Unfortunatley, just like any other "breed" movies, there are probably going to be people who wil buy Huskies just because of this movie. And that's not a good thing. ( I thought that Golden Retriever was awful cute too [;)])

But I loved the movie![:D] Almost everyone ( my friends, etc) say that this is a  sad movie, but I say that it's a good movie that has sad parts in it, I wouldn't describe it as a sad movie. Yes, I tear up at those sad parts, [:(] but the ending also makes me tear up; it's a happy ending. Since we've got the DVD I watched the extra stuff, where they talked about training the dogs and everthing. If I'm correct, I think they said that they got some of those dogs from a shelter/rescue and trained them, they had to have a lot of them. I like that they spent that long training with the dogs and working with them, and it all paid off with everything they got the dogs to do. Of course I was also impressed with the way Paul Walker was attatched to the dogs off screen as well as in the movie....just like Viggo Mortensen in LOTR spent a lot of time with the horses in the movie to get to know them....just an example.

While I didn't think it was the greatest movie I've seen in a while...It made my cry like a lil baby...especially when the prop plane was taking off leaving all those dogs behind...Oh my...might start crying again. [:D] That KILLED me. I can't deal with dogs being hurt in any way. And anyone who's like me, I wouldn't recommend seeing this movie.

I saw this movie when it came out. I enjoyed it very much, for what is was. It's wasn't a "great" movie, but I loved watching the dogs. It was very sad for me to watch the dogs being alone and being left behind. I had tears. However, there was a lady next to us in the theatre that was bawling the entire time. Even within the first 5 minutes, when there was nothing to cry about, she got her kleenex out and started crying. It really bothered my mom. My mom couldn't enjoy it because this lady was sobbing the whole way through. Not just crying and tears, I mean SOBBING. It's probably how I will cry when I watch it at home. [:)]

We're about to face the opposite with the Border collies.  The movie based on Jon Katz 's book Bedlam Farm [edited - it's A Dog Year that's coming out soon] will hit the theaters soon, with no sign that Mr. Katz will suddenly change his ways and use his bully pulpit responsibly for the breed he's chosen to focus on.

Ugh!! How awful for BC's...[:@]  Is the border collie community prepping to do anything to combat the effect it's going to have?

I loved the movie.  I couldn't imagine having to leave Sally behind like that....

That was the hardest part of the movie for me. Everything else, I could expect. Dogs pass away for whatever reason. But having to leave the dogs behind, that was tough.

Hehehehehe, was she seating next to me? [;)] I am so sorry.  No I watched it in the privacy of my home, where I could cry my heart out.  I mean I cry with Bambi, for goodness sake.

Yeah, but I got to watch my favorite breed doing what they do best, pulling hard and running fast. And yes, it is a Disney movie. There will be some poetic license taken. It happens in most any movie, even ones based on a true story.

For my grandmother, "Gone with the Wind" was a great movie. For me, "It's a Wonderful Life" is a great movie. There will always be some technical inaaccuracies in any movie, like I posted about "G. I. Jane." There is a major faux pas in "Tears of the Sun", another special forces movie. Sorry, I just happen to have a familiarity with military and special forces training and tactics. But it doesn't stop the enjoyment of the movie or from people liking it.

Most sled dogs are not trained to do tricks and off-leash obedience like they did in "8 Below." Who cares? It was a neat movie anyway, with a chance to show the character and nobility of the breed.

Lol! I wanted to bawl like this woman was so I'm sure I will when I watch it at home. My mom said it slightly ruined the movie for her! .  I also cry with Bambi! And Old Yeller . .  and Where the Red Fern Grows . . . and The Lion King . . . .
