    Fashion/clothing gurus: Pics added p 2

I am going to my guy friend's sister's wedding next month.  I have gathered that the ceremony is at 5:00p w/reception following immediately.  I have no clue what to wear.  The only dress I own is a black tea-length scarf-hem sleeveless cocktail dress that has a long-sleeved matching sheer jacket.  Would this be appropriate?  I've only worn the dress once, 5 years ago, and I got it on clearance.  It is an Evan Picone.  I don't have much money to spend.  And my other problem is shoes.  I have EE width feet.  The shoes I wore with this dress are a black dress sandal with 3" heels (not spike, but not wedge either).  So I have to pretty much wear something I can wear these shoes with.  Any ideas or comments would be appreciated.  I'm pretty sure going in my favorite sweats is out of the question. LOL

Personally I think that would be perfect.  I have worn black cocktail dress to a wedding and thought omg I will be the only one in black.  I was not!..  If you wanted to add some color, you could by a shoulder wrap or shaw with some sparkle or color.  Lucky for you that you can still wear it.  I cant wear anything in my closet from 5 years ago.  Seems like ever since I turned 52 I cant wear anything that is in my closet.

Since it's an evening wedding/reception, I think it'd be totally fine too. I wore something similar to the last evening wedding I went too.

It sounds like it would be a good fit!

Whew!  Thanks ladies!  I really wasn't sure if black was appropriate.  Accessories are much easier to change than buying a whole new outfit.

Tina, I saw a pic of you before and I'm sure whatever you where you'll still shine!!!  :)

You know I'm no fashion maven but I agree that the black dress will be fine.  Sandals in February in MI??????  Are you crazy?  lol   I'd be wearing them with black wool socks. Stick out tongue

Sandals w/ black socks, hmm...I might upstage the bride in that get-up.

PS:  Jackie, here we put boots on then change when we get to our destination. Wink

ROTF!!!  Jackie I was thinking the same thing, talk about cold feet.  Who would have guessed!  I actually have my snow boots in the van in case I get stuck somewhere and have to walk.  That has happened to me before in a quick moving snow storm that surprised this area...never again will I go thru a winter without my "emergency kit" in the van.

Tina, I Googled this extensively before my friend's wedding a few weeks ago - apparently it is no longer taboo to wear black to a wedding, ESPECIALLY not if it's dressed up with colorful accessories. So some colorful jewelry or a scarf or something would probably do the trick. Apparently it's even a new trend to have "little black dresses" as bridesmaid dresses - who knew!

The dress sounds darling and very appropriate.

But my feet would be freezing inside with those on!  LOL  Me, I'd be wearing one of my boot length skirts,a blouse and boots.  Smile

I think what you have sounds great!  The last three weddings I was at...my own included....a LOT of people wore black.  It didn't seem odd or out of place at all.  Heck, my best man wore a black cardigan and dark dress pants.  LOL.

The last evening wedding I attended I wore a a black dress. I accessorized it with a red clutch and red shoes.

I went to a summer wedding for a young couple (my nephew) and I was the only one NOT wearing black.

That's fine, Tina.  I've worn a black dress to my last three weddings.  They have the most adorable printed tights now to go with them and I wore a long necklace to perk it up a bit.
