Julie - if you want to move to NH, we can have a civil union and pool our resources.  lol  Although, wait, I don't want to take on your school debts. lol  I hate what my income has been over the past 3 years - it's ridiculous.  That's what I get for dumping my entire work life for a MAN who had the gall to call me a slacker because I wasn't making as much money when I moved across country to live with him.  He's got a new woman moving in with him now - good luck to them!  I'd rather be broke without him, than married to him and miserable!

January is shaping up to be aother BUSY month.  It's already half over, but the fun is loaded up ALL month!  Whew!

I haven't read the whole thread, and breezed through most of it...something about a party that Deb is throwing to help us forget about our finances where Glenda will be pole dancing with her special boot while having a drink.  I'm in!  Big Smile

Been a busy week getting the new boss prepared for her Asia trip the next two weeks.  Whew...the trip is fully baked now.  Travel arrangements for 4 cities: check; Customer meetings: check; Employee events: check.  Inevitably, we'll have tweaks to make, but that's expected.  I'm sure I've said it before, but this a fast paced role and I am having so much fun!

Today, Rick and I have been married 33 years!  We've literally grown up together.  Now, I suppose I can start saying we are growing old together.  Big Smile  We are going to go out tonight and have a nice steak dinner; then come home and snuggle.   That last part is my expectations...we'll see what happens.  lol

    Hugs to all!

    Happy anniversery!!

Paige, what a loser that guy sounds like! Glad you are not still with him. And no, I can't imagine anyone would want to take on my school debt lol. Heck I don't even want it!

It was reported today that our new govenor has given raises to all the lead people he appointed (they make $170k to $250k). This comes while he has promised to cut public worker wages. Wth is wrong with people?! Oh and UofM officials gave themselves all 18 to 20% pay raises (they make $500k to 750k and that's not the sport heads). This is a public university for cryin out loud! Ok you can all see how I feel about this, I'm sure ;p

On to better news, work was crazy busy all week. This is a great thing because the week felt like 1 day.

And I am feeling a tiny bit better after starting the new meds. Yay. I can almost breathe entirely through my nose and the pain is not as bad. Still no sense of smell what so ever but it will probably come back. I hope ;p

Wow - congratulations to both of you and you've definitely earned yourself a snuggle this evening :)

Julie - I'm so glad you're starting to feel better and hopefully the sense of smell will return.

I had to review and edit a 134 page document today and my eyes and brain are fried. It was in pretty good shape but there were a ton inconsistencies (my pet peeve). If you're going to capitalize something, even if it's wrong, do it all the time.

I'm so looking forward to a laid back weekend. DH's bike is in the Easy Rider show this weekend and I think that should earn him free tickets in but only for the 2 guys who have the booth apparently. It's $18 per day or $25 for the weekend. That seems ridiculous, especially since we're really not that into the whole thing, so I doubt we'll even go. DH is a nervous wreck about something happening to the bike while it's being transported or at the show, so I hope it all goes smoothly.

It was so nice to get up this morning to blue skies and sunshine!  It's supposed to be mid to high 60's for the next few days so I'm looking forward to that.

Tina, did your DS have a pro do his taxes?  If he owes a bundle, they can help him get the forms to make payments instead of doing a big lump sum.  He'll pay in penalties for doing that, but sometimes it's the easier choice.

Lisa, a lot of those people who look like they have this big cushion are really living way above their means, and at some point it will all come crashing down on them.

They've been talking again about *the big one* hitting CA, and come to find out they're not talking about an earthquake but a torrential storm coming from the Pacific.  They had a pic in todays paper showing the governor taking a rowboat down a Sacramento street to his innauguration in 1862. True, that was almost 150 years ago but still ... it makes you think.

DS has come around to my reasoning re: pay the IRS now, before it gets out of control.

My TMJ is really bothering me today.

I'm up to my eyeballs in work, so off I go.

ETA: I learned this morning that there is a Yankee Doodle Road in Eagan, MN.  I think that's darn near the funniest street name I've seen in a while.

If he's really gotten in over his head, you can often settle with the IRS and get a plan to pay it off. My dad is a retired agent, and actually his current business is help people with tax problems. Though, his clients are probably in way more trouble than your son.

I am so tired, and it is way too early to be this tired. Well, I guess I am just super uncool though, and that's what I have to deal with.

Saw Black Swan tonight... um, wow. I thought I was prepared for it, but I really wasn't. If you're interested in seeing it and haven't yet, don't read any spoilers beforehand.

Meh, I just made him better for the next girl, and he made me stronger for the next relationship.  I won't diminish myself for anyone else.

That's jacked up.  I thought the point of investing in education had to do with the students!  If they needed higher salaries to afford better teachers, fine, I think I'm ok with that.  But if there are just general 20% increases in pay and not an equivalent output of quality student education...

PS, hope you sense of smell comes back...

And depending on how much money it is and how long he thinks it will take him to pay it off, we often tell our clients to just pay what they can, and when they get more money or another notice, pay more again until they get it paid off.  The IRS will charge you outrageous penalties and interest no matter what you do...we avoid the extra paperwork when we can and just let the 30 day cycle keep taking place and let them keep sending notices until it's paid off.  I can't remember what the drawback is to applying to get on their payment plan, but it seems like they charge you something or other in addition to it and as long as they are consistently getting money from you, for the most part, they will just keep sending you letters telling you what your balance is.

I'm intruiged by the black swan movie. The advertisements don't give much away, just enough to make you think hmmm, that's probably good!

    It was awful.

I've heard all sorts of mixed reviews on that movie....I said I was going to rent it when it comes out in the redbox, but my friend said to see it in the theater... that watching it at home wont have the same effect. Hmm....I dunno if I can convince BF to see that with me or not...

Just got back home from a nice few days of vacation with the BF. We were over in Meg and Callie's neck of the woods.... unfortunately - by the time I put two and two together... we were driving back home. :( But we had a blast - it was a Firefighters Hockey Tournament - all sorts of teams from Canada and all over the US - met a lot of really nice people, overall - great time!

I realize it's a psychologically dark movie, from the reviews - I've seen people call it "disturbing".  I haven't seen it yet.  I heard it got 12 nominations for Critics Choice awards?

I think it's a very well done move, and definitely psychologically dark and also disturbing. The best description I can come up with is Memento-ish. Basically, it's about the psychological destruction of a neurotic young(ish) ballerina. Themes of good vs. evil, inner struggle against your own nature, growing up and loss of innocence, etc.
