    Wintry Wednesday Chat

Not much time to talk - got to get dressed and out side helping to shovel.  SNOW!!  Happy Wednesday all!

The snow is coming down at a good clip here. Should be interesting having our Wednesday meeting via conference call. Conference calls to me are always awkward.

I really need a haircut. I WAS going to let it grow out, but I can never get past the long awkward phase (my hair is usually kept very very short). So, I think I'm going to just hack it off again lol. I've been debating piercing my eyebrow again, but I've done it twice to the same brow (both times a little over a year after piercing it, I got a weird infection and it had to come out, even though I washed it regularly, including the barbell). I don't think work has any policy over piercings lol (not that has stopped me in the past)! Maybe I'm getting too old for it though lol.

Snowed here yesterday more than expected, that kind of wet snow that sometimes felt like rain, then froze just enough to make the roads crappy.

Glenda, holy crap!  Did they sew the toe back on?  .

Sharon, if you think you are too old for a pierced eyebrow, then you probably are.

Much work to do, so I'd best get to it.

we only got about 6" but you'd think it was 6' from the way people are acting and driving.

I need to make a baby blanket for a baby whose gender will remain unknown.  I'm thinking of doing it in UW colors, purple and gold, but I might make it double sided and can't think of colors for the other side.  Maybe Steelers black and gold since they have lived in Pittsburgh for a number of years and are soon moving back to Seattle, but those aren't very good baby colors.  I still need to find a pattern that I like, though.  I'm also thinking of learning to knit socks. Now that classes are over, I need something to occupy my time :)

    Have a good day everyone!

ETA good golly Glenda!  Hope your toes are still doing OK this morning!

Holy Hannah!  16 inches of snow out there already and it's coming down at the rate of 2-4 inches per hour...supposed to slow down to 1-2 per hour shortly. Total accumulation is supposed to be 20-30 inches!!  The guys had to shovel out the back door so the dogs could go out, and then the mountain that the plow put at the end of the driveway.  Our car is staying in the garage today.  DS can get through the snow ok since his wheelbase is high enough, so he'll just have to run Todd into work.  I feel like such a schumk not being able to help with the shoveling.  For once, I didn't even try to figure out a way that I could help.  No way to keep dry with that much snow.  Thankfully it's light and fluffy.

Little bit sore today......I'll live, but I'm still ticked about my boots and good wool socks.

Glenda!  What the hell!!!  GAAAAAH I do hope you are not going to go out and cut the wood yourself anymore, your DS should do that from now on!  I hope you heal up nicely!!

I got to sleep in on this snow day. How sad though that sleeping in meant sleeping until 7 AM. Then Luke got up to go out, so I stayed out and shoveled. Once again, my mom was gone, so I had to shovel out her space, along with my car, and the walk ways.

The weather reports were ridiculously wrong.  They said an inch or two by sunrise, then from 6am on it would be falling at a rate of 1-1.5 inches per hour.  I got out there at 7:30  expecting to find 4 or 5 inches, and there was already 8-9 and the snow is steadily falling.  I would have gotten up earlier if I'd thought we'd have 5 inches before sunrise!

Very thankful for the cafeteria staff who made it in and cooked some breakfast sandwiches and made coffee.  I can function, I think, with this fuel in mah bellay!

My thoughts exactly!  I hope your toe heals up quickly.

Cold here this morning but not as cold as predicted by our weather forecasters.  They desperately want some weather news that's exciting and dramatic but they're in the wrong market for that. lol  I did fall for their dramatic forecasting yesterday and covered my Meyer lemon trees.  That was a waste of time and I didn't realize till I got to work that I forgot to take the covering off this morning before I left.

I had a frustrating conversation with a friend and then another one with my sis in Dallas yesterday.  I spent most of the evening trying to figure out how to deal with what they told me and finally concluded that it's not my place to deal their issues.

Everyone with bad weather stay safe.  We're short handed at work today and have a bunch of service calls to run.  It will be a day of cold and unhappy customers and I can't really blame them but there's not much I can do about it other than tell them we'll get there asap.  I do always wonder if people don't get that it will eventually get cold here and  therefore they should get their heaters checked and serviced before it actually gets cold.  I have to bite my tongue quite often some days.

hmmm...a day off.  Two in fact !  Didn't get out of bed until 8 am  Smile  My bladder insisted.

Yesterday afternoon the snow here stopped.  We had 40 consecutive hours of very light snowfall resulting in 4-5".   It was more annoying than anything.  I would rather have had 30".

Glenda, stay put!  Let that little piggy heal up.  You can help the snow shoveling men with warm beverages and yummy food.

Tina, no.  It was just the tip of the toe and a bit of the nail.  What came off was pretty danged groady from the socks and the boot and sawdust.  They just closed the toe and the one next to it.  A ton of tiny little sutures....think the ER doc must have been a frustrated plastic surgeon!  It's toes for goodness sakes.  They are ugly before you cut into them with a skill saw!

Now, guys, if I had a chain saw this wouldn't have happened.  It's when I have to "make do" because DH is afraid I'd chop off a body part with a chain saw that accidents happen.  I suspect that now if I went out and bought one, DH wouldn't fuss more than he normally does with the safety lectures.......

At 7 AM we had 16 inches of snow and it was coming down at the rate of about 3 inches an hour, so heaven knows how much is out there now.  The guys shoveled a path and area for the dogs, and then just at the top of the driveway where the plow had gone.  The wheelbase on DH's truck is high enough to get through what we've got.  when it's done, we'll have the guy across the road plow.

It's danged inconvenient having all this mess.  I wanted nothing more than a nice long soak last nite but had to sit in the tub backwards with my foot sticking out.  Sigh.  And having a smoke??  Geeze.  Getting down the stairs so I can go to the garage and smoke makes it not so worth while!

Could someone pass the cheese to go along with my whine please?  I HATE being slowed down by anything.

Holy jeepers, Glenda, glad you're (more or less) okay.

Hope everyone is dealing with the snow okay. I read today that every single state except for Florida - yes, even Hawaii - has snow right now. Nuts! We got about a foot of fluffy light stuff here, and I'm pretty happy about it since I don't have to go anywhere (except on foot). And this weather is when I really, really love my Uggs :)

Jackie, even we northerners, who run our furnaces at least 5-6 months of the year, can be lax in having them looked at before we actually use them.  It's that 3 months of summer that sends us into denial, I think.

OMG Glenda...had to go back to yesterday to figure out what happened to your toe.  You sound so like me...I will be more aware of that circular saw and sawzaw in the future.   I did however get a good laugh out of Meg's comments about the " tough old broad panties".  Dear sweet Meg, those panties come at a very high cost and many years of character building, lol!

It was 2 this morning at my house fortunately no snow.  It will be below 0 tonight.  That is not the wind chill and I dont even want to know what that was.

I feel your pain Jackie.  I had one of those days at work yesterday.  Everyone was gripey, got chewed out a few times turning service off for non pay.....excuse me "I" didnt turn you off, maybe you should have paid the bill???? well anyway that's what I wanted to say, lol.  I love being in customer service but there are those days and I do find in my "old broad" years I tend to want to just say what I am thinking. :)

Hope everyone has a good day, stay safe and warm.

I have been wanting to make this one ever since I saw it on a blog I read.  It looks pretty easy too! http://www.creationsbykara.com/2010/01/baby-rag-quilt-tutorial.html

Glenda, I can't believe you chopped off the end of your toe.  I am glad it wasn't worse!

I didn't have a chance to read through all the MC's but I saw Nicole's post so I had to respond!  But good thoughts for those who need them, job vibes and any other positive vibes needed are being sent to my fellow idoggers!

Super busy here at work!  Happy Hump Day everyone!
