Tuesday talk

    Tuesday talk

morning all!  I have a feeling that today is not going to be pleasant weather wise.  It's kind of "misting" snow already when it isn't supposed to start until much later in the day.  Not looking forward to what is to come snow wise!

I called the vet I used here for Thunder yesterday.  Theo I had already started treating, but felt like it would be better to get a mega droncit from the vet.  Nope, not gonna happen.  They want EACH dog to come in.  Not just their poop, because I couldn't possibly keep poop from that many dogs straight, and no, you don't need to treat all when you treat one......and the dogs really need to have a complete checkup before they will do anything......Check up, blood work that goes with it??  $150 EACH, maybe a little more???   WTH??  So, if anyone knows a good source for droncit, let me know please?  Or if you have any laying around unused.......the wormer from Tractor Supply is outrageous and they don't keep much in stock.

Never did get the boy out in the woods yesterday, but it WILL happen this morning before things get too ugly with the weather.

Have a great day everyone.  Stay warm and safe!

    ditto

we missed the snow and got ice instead Tongue Tied

Nothing like watching your orthopedically challenged dog navigate ice - at HIS speed, shakes head.  Complete with attempted zoomies post poop.  Now that my heart has settled i need to tuck into some work

doesn't look like much melting today, bah humbug, sure wish I had those old metal golf spikes I used to wear LOL

    Good boy Clive!

Hope GabbyG is behaving and recovering well - good luck Goose with your spay

Ice = no fun for anyone, unless you skate.  Bugsy, no zoomies, m'kay?  I don't want your mom to have a coronary event.

Good luck Meg!  Glad Wendy is okay.

    Easy spay vibes for Goose.

Tiffy, no clear pics of the orange swirled kitty.  Our shelter's website has tons of face shots, though.

I do my very best to stay detached from the dogs at our shelter.  I care about them and what happens, but don't let myself get attached because it's the only way I can do what I do.  However, there is one girl there now who has stolen my heart.  She's been there since the end of November.  I would love to take her home, but financially it is impossible right now.   I'm just finding it really hard not to think about her.

Here is the link to our page; she is the 3rd dog from the bottom in the center column and her name is Magnolia.  That's me, in the red jacket, holding her.  http://www.midmichiganadopt-a-pet.com/id15.html

I stayed home from work this morning because my sinuses hate me. Its hard to keep my eyes open but I am watching some show on dino's. Interesting stuff! Its crazy to think of what life was like way back then.

Neiko does not want to accept that I don't want to snuggle right now. Any time I slightly move, he tries to crawl up on me for snuggles and attention. I'm so not in the mood to have a 50 lb dog laying on me! Spoiled dog.

Tina:  you always manage to find the dogs with THE most soulful eyes.

On another note, the lines at the liquor store is going to be really long.

Glenda, good luck with the droncit.  I don't have any laying around or I'd send it to you.

Tina, Magnolia looks like a sweetheart and I can understand why she's gotten to you.  I hope she finds a home soon.

Karen, stay safe and good luck keeping the beast from slipping and injuring himself.

Julie, sending you hugs and hoping this will all be better in a few weeks.

Good vibes to the Goose today.

I saw on FB that Megan passed her test.  Those lucky underwear must have worked. :)

Deb, how much did it cost you to pay all those people to stand in line for you at the liquor store?  Wink

It's cold and windy here but not like some places farther north.  Rex and Belle were having a blast racing around the back yard this morning.  Twister, not so much.  Gabby is feeling completely recovered and now it's getting to be a challenge to keep her activity level low.  I am lucky that she will settle in her crate even when she's at her wildest.  It takes a while for her to calm down sometimes but she's very good at keeping herself entertained with toys in her crate.

When I took Twister out one last time before I left for work, I was standing in the corner of the yard trying to stay out of the wind.  I had a black coat on and it was still pretty dark out.  Twister was sniffing around looking for a good spot to poop when a huge owl swooped down over the yard.  It was maybe 15' above Twister as it silently flew over.  Yikes!

Holy cow, Jackie!  You think Twister was being eyed for breakfast?

Karen, I know nothing about Justice; I didn't get a chance to meet him Sunday.

    Yay Meg!

I agree about ice - definitely no fun unless you are skating.

Twister....I am sure glad the owl didn't eat you!

Tina - Magnolia is adorable. It's easy to see how you've fallen for her. Do tell me about Jenny and Esme - they look like major cuties too! I find working at shelters incredibly hard. I fall for them too easily. The one I volunteered at out west, I fell in love with a sweetheart of a staffy mix. If I had of been in the position of being able to get a dog - I would have taken her in a heartbeat. I used to take her out to the beach to swim in the lake and everything, she was a fabulous dog. She ended up being adopted out once, then returned a week later. I never heard the excuse for bringing her back. Two days after she was brought back, I moved back home so I never heard what happened to her from there.

DH and I cooked a giant ham and made scalloped potatoes last night. We didn't get to eat until 9:00 - but it sure was good when we did eat! Tonight we have friends coming over for perogies!

    That's what I'm thinking!

Tina...awwwww she is so sweet looking.  I admire all of you that work in the shelters, I am afraid I would want to take them all home.

Hope everyone is ready for the deep freeze.  It is very cold here, missed most of the snow.  We got a little and the roads were actually worse today than yesterday.  Wind chill this morning was -4.  For us that is very cold.  Supposed to be around 0 by tomorrow a.m. and that is not the wind chill, buuurrrr.

Everybody that has called today is cranky!  It's gonna get better cause it is "shut off" day and they are starting the shutoffs as I am typing, yea wont that be fun!

    Have a good day all!

Yay, I did pass my test!!! Thanks guys!

I'm thinking I'll get my stuffed shells ready to go for tonight, and then I deserve a nap :)

    • Gold Top Dog

WTG Meg!!!  Mmmm stuffed shells. I might make those myself this week. I haven't made those in awhile!

I admire anyone able to work at a shelter. I'm afraid it would break my heart and I'd want to scoop them all up. I still would love to get a second dog, but I know right now is not a good time. My Mom is bummed she can't adopt a dog right now, but finances won't allow it. I hope they will soon. Her future dog will end up in a fantastic home and my Mom would have a furry companion again.

I really need a better computer/office chair. The one I have wasn't cheap, but it's just not right. I need something with a lot more lower back support. Considering my fat butt is parked in it for hours, I deserve something that's comfy and won't leave me with lower back and neck pain! I realize my terrible posture is a contributing factor though, so I need something that will encourage me to sit up straight (not all hunched up and slouched over).

     Yay Megan!

I'm feeling rather domestic this morning. So far I made eggplant lasagna, which I hope will be good. I never did that before, but I alternated eggplant and noodles on the noodle layer. I fried the rest of the eggplant=yum. We made turkey legs, and there is a chicken baking, and I will make chicken noodle soup later.
